    • @Clips_phrases
      @Clips_phrases 2 года назад +19

      Montage was super sweet, I was in awe. And then after I finished the video, I was in awe again at the sheer amount of work he did to showcase everything with precision, descriptive, informative. Taki is a true gem and I hope he can continue this hobby as long as he pleases.

    • @ekinteko
      @ekinteko 2 года назад +9

      Agreed.
      I also want to acknowledge how he listed the games together, and had them shown from the weakest to the highest graphical variant (eg Mario Kart).
      I was doubly impressed he did this for the video too. If you noticed, the emulators went from the weakest systems to the fastest systems. With the exception of PS2 which he saved for last.
      If anyone is curious how the hierarchy goes:
      Pong, Atari 2600, Coleco Vision, Sega Master, NES, GBC, TGf-16, Sega Megadrive, SNES, GBA, (DoS box), Sega Saturn, PS1, N64, DS, Dreamcast, PSP, PS2, 3DS, GameCube, Wii, Xbox, PS Vita, Xbox 360, PS3, WiiU, Switch, XB1, PS4, (Steam Deck), PS5, and lastly at the top is Windows Gaming PC*.
      (I've left out a few ones there which were more niche)

    Just a tip for anyone wanting to play Drastic on devices like this, such as the RP2+ etc, you can adjust the 2 screen landscape mode to have the main screen fill the screen of the device, then overlay the secondary screen at, say a quarter of the size, at the bottom right of the main screen.
    Then you can map screen swap to swap between just the main display, and the 2 screen landscape mode so it basically looks like at the press of a button that you're showing and hiding the bottom screen. Useful for games where you'll need to have both displays visible.

    • @Jack_80
      @Jack_80 2 года назад

      never knew that. i use drastic on my phone and it works perfectly, but making the unnecessary 2nd screen smaller and the main screen larger would be very nice. weird that i've gone through all of the settings multiple times and never noticed that.

    Thanks for this content Taki! Loving the production values of your last few vids. I'm definitely intrigued by Odin, but as I've got a Steamdeck reservation I'm going to hold out. Shipping an Odin Pro to the UK with a case and a couple of cheap accessories pushes this to £290 GBP, which still feels like a lot for an SD845 device, with the risk of added VAT/import duties in Europe. I have a Black Shark 3 Pro phone, so will keep using this with a modified Gamsir X-2 controller for now. That said, from the videos, this really looks like a complete product with decent UI and a lot of thought has gone into this. If it was a third cheaper, I'd be sorely tempted. I fear if they launch at retail with a price north of the IGG pre-order, it would be a hard device to sell. That would be a shame, as Odin looks very polished so could eventually have mainstream appeal, emulation aside.

My collection is probably less impressive than yours, but I digitized it, put it on 2 SSDs a few years back, and have not regretted it so far. Why 2? I bought the RG552 not too long ago, being aware of this coming out, but my greatest concern was the whole IGG thing - something I partially regret after seeing how well this emulates everything. My hope is that this product does amazingly and is flawless and has an ever better successor within the next few years that would be a nice upgrade from the RG552. For me, the RG552 does everything I need it to, but I know down the road it'll hit a wall from the limited processor. The Odin does look spectacular and I love the dock so I'll be rooting for its success and hopefully it's successor!

      Also once the odin is no longer on indiegogo and is at full retail the price will be a major issue. $325 with no case, so tack on an extra $10, and then shipping on top, which at least to the us is $28. Hey Taki, I haven't received my device yet because I just put an order in very recently, but when I was watching videos on the Odin I noticed that the built in menus have a lot of capitalization inconsistencies. It's an extremely minor gripe, but I think the UI would look a lot more polished if the menu titles and sentences were all capitalized correctly. The wording could also use some cleaning up.
    For example, in the "Performance Mode" settings they all repeat "Mode" at the end of each option when personally I think it would be better if it just said "Performance", "Standard", and "High Performance" Though honestly I think "Low", "Medium", and "High" would be better word choices for this part of the menu.
    I understand that AYN is a small company based in China, and maybe they aren't that great with English (which is understandable). But I think this would be a great addition to a future OTA update. I mean it's honestly not the biggest issue in the world, but I think for a premium product like this the grammar and wording decisions could be a bit better.
    Since you've already had direct contact with AYN and you're also based in China yourself (and have been sent test units in the past), do you think you could forward this type of suggestion to them? I think they would probably pay attention to you more vs a random stranger. You also might be able to explain it to them better.
