INGREDIENTS
Cookie dough:
110 g (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, softened
65 g (1/3 cup) granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
220 g (1 3/4 cups) all-purpose flour
30 g (1/4 cup) corn starch
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking powder
Royal Icing:
30 g (2 1/2 tbsp) pasteurized egg whites
150 g (1 1/4 cup) icing sugar
Edible paint:
Gel food colouring
Edible gold luster dust
Clear flavour extract or alcohol

This is really beautiful and a great alternative to piping decorations. As someone who is a traditional artist but has pretty much no piping experience I think I’m just gonna do this instead. Thanks for the great idea, they look beautiful!
Absolutely! It's also less fuss since you don't need to make different colour icings of different consistencies, use ton of piping bags or wait for it to dry down each time if you want to layer. Hope you have fun with them❤️

aww you're too kind! the cookie cutters were collected over the years but they're from either bulk barn, michaels, winners, or maybe a few other baking supply stores...

What brushes do you use??
Can the alchohol be replaced by other ingredients?
Can I mix the food coloring with water instead of alcohol?
no! the alcohol will evaporate almost immediately after being painted leaving only the colour, water will dissolve the royal icing since it takes a lot longer to dry. you might be able to get away with using very little water but it will still leave the final cookie really spotty...
