My dad passed away in 2011 and he would have been 100 this year. He would have loved to have equipment like that. You cleared in 45 minutes what it took him days to clear by hand but he loved his land and he only had 3 1/2 acres but it kept him busy keeping it mowed and gardens taken care of. I love watching you.

My Dad would have had that junk of equipment like that, too back in the 70's & 80's. He passed in 2009, but in his heyday as a "State Highway Department" heavy equipment operator, he woulda had a ball with this.

Sharron Hill, What a blessing to have your dad for that many years. You are so right about keeping busy as we age. Still feeling useful is what drives many seniors, especially when it’s something we love to do. My old Ukraine great aunts lived 102 and 2 others into late 90’s. They farmed as long as possible into their late 80’s moved into town and had huge gardens. They are the salt of the earth. Thank you for sharing.🇨🇦👩‍🌾

Great video! I make my living running equipment like this. It looks like you've already figured it out, but here's a tip: You'll find that if you make the initial knockdown going forward, then tilt the front end down so it's just above the dirt and back drag it, you'll get a really nice finished product. Also keep in mind that if need be, it's perfectly okay to make a few passes in the same spot, back and forth, if you're trying to get to bare dirt. Have fun!

I think if I was young again I might consider getting into this line of work, especially with a forestry mulcher. I'm sure there's a fairly sizable up front cost for equipment, insurance, etc and quite a bit of maintenance expense on the equipment, but it seems like a service that would be in quite a bit of demand and something you could charge a pretty good rate for doing and make a decent income at.

We use machines like this in Australia to save time, money and jobs. As a horticulturalist, the first time I saw the results of these machines, I was horrified. We were taught, and know from experience that a clean cut ensures fewer problems like die back. The trees were just ripped to pieces, I was close to tears knowing the trees were so damaged that they would probably not be able to regenerate. We still use these machines, talk about rape and pillage. And it's false economy, as the trees, once dead from this treatment, have to be cut down and are rarely replanted with appropriate trees for our fire prone landscape. Sometimes I wonder at the brains behind these stupid decisions. They are getting paid well to do a bad job. Senseless.

Good that you are skilled enough to repair the ‘ooops’ (and you learned a lesson as to how to tie up the cables, hoses, etc.when going through thick brush). Nice spotting of the wrecked truck. Now the police can follow up on it.
