This pattern is really fun. I like this chain as you go thing too; I feel like it helps keep it from being monotonous. Also this is the first "lacey" thing I have ever attempted. I think this is going to turn out beautiful! 💚 Thank you for the clear and simple instructions! I love the way you set up the videos so you never repeat yourself; it is so easy to find any particular instructions that way. And thank you to the person who designed the pretty pattern too! 💚
Thank you so much! I dont think I would have got the joining right without watching this! It was really nice to be able to (almost) keep up with you as you did these squares so I didn't have to pause so often to catch up! Also thank you for the different colours - made it much easier when you turned it to keep it oriented in my head.... well done and thanks again!
This is so beautiful, your work is AMAZING!! I wasn't sure I'd be able to figure it out...but I am No QUITTER!! You're explanations are right on. Thank you so much for these tutorials! Can't wait till I finish this! God bless you
The join as you go method confused me so much! I started the shawl and just put it down for a while to get my brain in the game. I think my problem is that I don't work the shawl while sitting at a table. I love this tutorial and have watched the videos so many times. I am stuck and need some help. Is there an easier way to put the motifs together? Any advice or suggestions are welcome. Sounds like you have mastered this shawl. XOXO
I'm glad you like it slower too. When you think about it I think most people who watch these RUclips videos are trying to learn and the way this ladys' videos explain things they are A+++++++
Thank you so much for all your work on this project. This is my first attempt at anything like this. I have been working on my squares and I had already attached my corners on this 4th motif but didn't have time to watch the video steps on connecting the corners. What I did was slip-stitch into both connecting points so no crossover at all, basically the 4 corners join together this way, I was sure that was what you were going to do. I was very surprised to see that instead, you did this crossover at the corners. I think that connecting all meeting points is better, but don't know if it will be too bulky, maybe? It seems fine actually.
Do the motifs not slip around with the corners being joined like this? I’m making this shawl and it is very lovely. I’m just wondering how that works in the long run. Especially when wearing it.
realise this is old now but how would you go about stitching the motifs together if you wanted to make them individual. asking as I don't have space to lay the shawl out so joining as I go means I join the wrong part then spend more time undoing it than I do crocheting it so think it might be easier to sit and crochet all 79 motifs then stitch together. I'm thinking it will only be a stitch here and there to keep that lacy look.
Is there a link to download the written pattern? The only link here is to download the video, unless I've missed something. Love your videos and love the pattern!!
I have never attempted join-as-you-go motifs. Your instructions are so clear, I think I can do it. What Michael's or Hobby Lobby yarn matches Stylecraft? Aunt Lydia's #10 cotton or I Love This Cotton?
Hi can you please, tell me how many squares to make, so I don't have to stop and go back to the beginning, to stared another square ,, oh is the gypsy queen shawl ,, from 3 years ago thank you
I realize this is an older video so I hope you get this comment. What are we supposed to do with the chain 7 at the top right hand corner of the base square? You didn't connect it to anything?
U did the base square square one and two but skipped the attachment of square three and went straight to square four and now I dont know how to attach square three it looks like its attached to square one but it's like a whole part is missing?... I ended up figuring it out but I had to go back and rewatch the beginning of the video. :(
Please go back and watch the video again and listen to the direction that is given. I tell you how to attach the third motif, the same way you attach the first but on the opposite side.
I had already attached my corners on this 4th motif, but I didn't do a crossover, I slip-stitched into both connecting points so no crossover at all, basically the 4 corners all join together this way. I was very surprised to see that instead there was this crossover and it was opened. I think that this is better, but don't know if it will be too bulky, maybe? It seems fine actually.
Stephanie, crocheting along, and it is looking lovely in whirlette💕. Quick question - that I can't find an answer to in the videos or written pattern: do you leave the crossovers open or do you tack them together at the end? If you leave them loose, does the shawl gape or does the border pull it all tight? Not sure I am making sense, which isn't unusual!
I am following you, I attached squares 1, 2 and 3, then suddenly in the video I see you will going to attached square No. 4 but there are already four squares attached, 1 green, 1 yellow, 1 pink, 1 green again and when you said you will going to attach square No. 4 there are already 4 squares, it is why I am confused. Please would be so kind to explain why it is already the other green square because I am attaching one by one and I do not know how to continue. Thanks a lot.
The base square does not count as a square. You're counting the second green square as square four when it is square three. ruclips.net/video/k1XyeWsDK5M/видео.htmlm26s
MUCH too slow in non-crucial portions, and you rush through important bits such as breezily saying that the next square is the same as square number one while previously saying, several times, in previous instructions, that square number one is never repeated! I am also following the written instructions and perhaps can find some explanatory information there.
I think perhaps you may want to go back and rewatch the portion you are speaking of. I never said that square number one is not repeated anywhere, I said the base motif is not repeated in it's entirety. I walked through attaching several different squares so I am uncertain of what else could be shown that wouldn't be duplicating what was already worked through. I do hope that you manage to find your way through the project with the written pattern though since my videos are of no assistance to you.

I am so happy it was helpful for you Fiona!
Awesome
I love the way you explain step by step, you never hurry. I love shawls and this is beautiful and lacy. Thank you.
This is such a beautiful piece. I can't wait to give this to my mom on mother's day.
Stephanie, yes, your are a great teacher. Clear and concise! This shawl pattern is so beautiful! Thank you for your great effort.

I love this pattern. You make it so simple and easy thank you for that.
Excellent video!! Your photography is clear and close up and the explanations are clear and easy to follow. Thank you!
My pleasure Leslie. I am glad it was helpful for you!
This looks very much like a shawl I saw on a television show. Thanks to this video I won’t have to figure out the pattern. Beautiful design.
Hey I love the slow., I'm a beginner and I think she is doing a wonderful job!!!!!
I so love this pattern that I made a deep purple one, a pale aqua one and a powder blue. Gorgeous!! Thankyouthankyou!!

You're the best. Love the way you teach. I am a beginner and I am really glad you explain everything. xo
I am very glad that I was helpful!

You do a wonderful job explaining what you are doing. I am collecting goodies for my first theme journal.
I was so confused on where and how to do placements and connections. Until I watched this series on the GQS. Thank you for the help.
I am glad it helped but what does GQS stand for?
@@ItsCrochetOClock It means Gypsy Queen Shawl. 😃
I'm sorry. I just got the notification of the comment. Yes GQS does mean Gypsy Queen Shawl.
Oh for heaven's sake! For as smart as I like to think I am I sure can be dense at times! hahaha!
Wow! I AM making mine, right now! You're a great teacher, thank you so much!
Beautiful, just beautiful! Thank you for the videos.
Loving the tutorials 💙 Where can we download the pattern?

I followed the instructions created by the designer. As I haven’t done it your way I cannot answer how it will come out.
❤️ Thank You ❤️

Not a huge fan of Motifs, but I'm thinking I might not be able to resist this. It's gorgeous! Thank you for making a tutorial! 😊

I am not happy with the “open” crossover. So to make the finished work more stable I am alternating under and over crossover on each line.
I had already attached my corners on this 4th motif, but I didn't do a crossover, I slip-stitched into both connecting points so no crossover at all, basically the 4 corners all join together this way. No tacking, they don't move too much once everything is all together!
TY! My OCD was twitching 🙄
I have to get a printer left handed
Did you make all your squares first. Then go back and complete them as you attached? Or did you make one square at a time as you went along?
It is designed to be join as you go so that is how I worked it.
@@ItsCrochetOClock Thank You!
