First, I really appreciate the time and effort you've put into this. That being said, the only thing I'd change about their original pattern is to not do the color change until slip stitching into the stitch where the beginning chain 3 will arise from to avoid the visible colored slip stitches.
Also.... Just sort of writing this as a reminder to myself to do just that when I get around to making this 😉.
Thank you again for the tutorials. I've been searching and hoping for knit and crochet items like these, ESPECIALLY cape style ever since Bernadette Banner came on the scene... It's just too bad I can't sew lol
Do we need to buy the pattern to find out how much yarn this uses? I'm not sure I have enough in stash. Thanks
@@laurawilliams7782 I have in it the video, jump to the 0:22 mark and you will see on screen yarn amounts
@@justvintagecrochet Thanks much i must have missed that!
I don't care if this type of shawl is not in style; I love it, and I would wear it! Looking through my stash now to see which yarn I will use to make this. ❤❤
no joke here, I so will too, it's so feminine !
I have some purple that I’m going to use! I love this shawl!
If enough of us start wearing this style shawl, which I love, then it will be back in style again 😊👍
@@kimberlyaustin6677 Yes! I thought so too! :)
This type of shawl should be a required article of women’s clothing! It stays on, it’s lovely, and so easy to work! Plus, it’s warm! But using wool makes it a year-round item.
I tried to crochet this when I was 12! I failed pretty badly, and that was over a decade ago. It's so cool to see it being made by someone else. It turned out lovely!
Im just impressed that you tried at 12 yrs old! 🥰🤗
Though I'm a guy, I feel like I could totally pull this off. It's a very beautiful piece and I can't wait to finish mine!!
I'm making this shawl with soft cream yarn. I'm so excited! I loved the older fashions and I wish we still dressed like this. Can't wait to finish and make more beautiful things! Thank you Just Vintage Crochet!
This is so beautiful I think we should start making more of these and wear them I don't like the fashions of today I'm going to start making clothes from that era and wear them along with the under garments and corsets Thank you so much for sharing these patterns with us God bless you and your family and of course you cute fur baby love y'all very much
I love this, it's beautiful! It would be perfect for the bride at a winter wedding.
This will be nice for the summer evening over a dress, I’ve knit for 53yrs and always wanted to learn to crochet but couldn’t find someone to teach me, but I have been watching on here and I’m trying to learn myself, starting with waste yarn to remember the basics stitches, thank you for all the tutorials
What a gorgeous little capelet! Even though it's lacy, folding it in half would make it nice and warm too. I think I'd make it several rounds longer - I love making long opulent shawls! Thank you for another excellent vintage tutorial. ❤
What a great idea!!
Beautiful pattern!! ❤sometimes I feel like I have as born in the wrong era! Thank you! Love your channel
oh, me too! lol :)
Yep, me too ! I was born in the wrong era also😅😂🤣🧶🧶
We all can make the right era here! :)
When the choice comes down to scrolling through screen after screen of online "stuff" or keeping hands busy doing this...? For me there's no question! And look what you have to show for it afterward! So pretty.
This is gorgeous! I really like how you do the picots. The only thing I would do differently is the color changes. I would slip stitch over to the chain 3, then change color. That way, there isn't the ridge of contrasting color carrying across the shell at the beginning of the color change round.
Great idea!
You probably won’t see the color changes amongst all the folds. Your instructions are very clear. Great instructor!
@@claraplum9593 thank you so much! 🤗
@Clara Plum you are probably right, and no one would notice. It's just a personal choice I would make as it would bother me, if no one else, 😂
I would slip stitch across the shell in the same color as well
Oh my I would LOVE to make this!! The only rel challenge for me would be the loose stitching: I crochet with a death grip and have for over 50 years 🤷♀️😅 I'm going to try anyway 😍
Totally love this beauty!
So pretty.
Thank you.❤

Hola! Gracias gracias!!! 🧶 ❤
Very beautiful.
So pretty! Thank you for your time & expertise 🌻
Thank you! 😊
I love history and I love that you are showing us how to bring a little bit of history to our craft. Thank you so much for sharing this. All the best to you.✌🏻💟😁🧶🇺🇸
Beautiful shawl
I have been looking for a pattern with this shawl shape. Thank you so very much ❤
Very pretty shawl.
I LOVE this. So beautiful. Thank you so kindly for sharing. ❤
Thank you so much!
You make it look so easy. God bless you and keep you safe.
Another took my breath away moment at the finished piece,I want to make one and I would wear it with a dress and with jeans and sassy heels, loving it❣
So cute and elegant. Perfect for our hot tropics slightly cooler season😅
I love your channel and the projects you do
I'm currently doing it and I absolutely love it
Just lovely! I could see myself wearing this on a chilly evening crocheting in the garden or in bed. The lace stitch would trap the warmth in round your shoulders. I like the spiral effect too. Thanks for sharing these gems. Kate x
Very pretty!! I really love the delicate lacy look of the shawl and I think the blue really adds to the look. Thank you 😊
Thank you! 😊
I love your channel I’m glad it was suggested to me please keep the videos coming 😊
Thank you! Will do!
Beautifull!!!!Thank you very much💋👋🌈
Beautiful
1:15pm this is so pretty!!!! Thank you ❤
I love your channel and vintage crochet. Just completed this pattern and it's so lovely. Thank you.
So pretty
OMG Corinna, this is just the most spectacular shawl. Great for spring and summer Sunday morning church or any other daytime event when a lady gets dressed up. Add a sparkly yarn and it turns into evening wear. Who cares if it’s not yet in vogue, as you said, with enough of us, we can bring it back into vogue! Just love all of your content and watching you has caused me to reach for my hooks again, so thank you! Cannot wait to see what your next lovely will be!
I'm just a beginner but I think that I can follow along and make this maybe a little longer in back and in black maybe with a dark red contrast. Very cool, gothic.
Wonderful! I will definitely crotchet one
So pretty, thank you so much for the lesson and for sharing your talent. I subscribed to the channel.
It is a beautiful shawl. My grandmother used to make round shawls only in wool yarn. Thank you for sharing Corinna!!
Thanks for sharing ❤
That is such a beautiful shawl. Blue was definitely the right color to go with. It may not be in style but it would definitely be a conversation piece. I'd totally wear it.
My great grandma was born in 1902 and taught me when I was 12. One of the things she did was shawls and I never have gotten it right.😊
It's pretty I'll try it
Beautiful! My sister is expecting her first baby (first baby in the family since I was born), so I'm looking for patterns that'll be useful for the baby years, and also beyond them. This fits perfectly! My great grandmother was the last crocheter in the family, so all baby blankets since she died have been knitted. It'll be nice to have something to connect with her over!
Again, such a beautiful pattern that I can visualize my Grandma wearing!!@
Wonderful!
I have a large round doily that my great-grandmother made years ago using this stitch. I remember my mother starching it so it ruffled on the table. Thanks for showing us this stitch!
I made 2 of these shawls. One from baby alpaca in dark peacock colors, and the second from brown sheep’s 20% wool and 80% cotton in the colors cotton ball and salmon berry. Both came out beautifully. I did extend the length of each group of rows so that it would work for what I want to use them for.
- This is a great pattern!
I'm going to both make it and wear it! ❤❤❤
/Lisbeth from Sweden 🇸🇪
Wow that is gorgeous, and you really explained it so clearly. This is definately on my to do list. Thank you 🙂
Glad it was helpful! and Thank you :)
I frogged a dead Coboo project I had lying around and just completed the second color change and the project is already looking so pretty. Thank you so much for putting older patterns like this up! There's just something about the vintage patterns that looks so elegant and eye catching
Thank you so much for this video. I had a lot of fun crocheting this cape. I just used some colour changing yarn and it looks fabulous.
Such a cool channel! Glad I stumbled across it!
Awesome, thank you!
I bought the pattern immediately. I’ve been looking for this! Thank you!
Yay! Thank you :)
Lovely pattern! I started it last night and made it as far as completing the fishnet before breaking off and putting it to the side for now. Will definitely pick this up later and finish it! You're a great teacher and your videos are easy to follow. Thank you for the video!
So beautiful. Thank you for sharing this pattern. I know exactly who I want to make this for.
Me first! Then my daughter, sisters, nieces. And of course, some to sell!!! I have plans for this gorgeous pattern! Oh the colors I can use!
Yes, I waited for this kind of vintage crochet...I never made a capelet or colar or kind of but I think they have possebilities. I am soo glad I found your channel, even though it gives me hard work, I am stil trying to figur out the Waterlilly poncho and the 1970' poncho 😁
I really want to do your projects with you...they are so cute and simple...I'm a beginner..and you going step by step helps me out greatly
Beautiful! Thanks so much for inspiring me to crochet again. I would classify myself a beginner with just enough knowledge to get myself into trouble🙃 I am a very emotional crocheter. My tension reflects my mood. I am working on that. I decided to make a baby blanket/lap throw using some donated yarn. After much trail and error I settled on a shell stitch. It seems to be quite forgiving on the tension issue! Thanks again for sharing your talent. Your videos bring me much joy!
I love this shawl. Going to go through my stash to see what I can use.
Wonderful!
so pretty
I would wear this shawl in different colors today. Your picot technique is great. What a good tip!
Thank you! 🤗
This is too funny…I’m working a tablecloth while I watch you and your loose instruction landed in my work. This caplet is lovely. I can see a tree skirt with shiny macrame cord. Thank you for this hard work.
I like the heirloom baby blanket idea. What a gorgeous pattern. Love your work!
Thank you! 😊
Yes! N the tree skirt as well!
I love your dog! Appropriate barking!🐶
i can't believe how much this channel has blown up! so happy for you!!
I truly can't either, thank you :)
