  • Learn how to make the Irish Emeralds Cape with Bonnie! This is an intermediate crochet design that features the Celtic Weave combined with crochet lace.
    The written pattern is available here: www.lovecrafts.com/en-us/p/ir...
    Yarn - approx. 800 yds of your choice of #2 yarn (I used 3 balls of Premier Yarn's Cotton Fair in video tutorial, 317 yd/290 m per ball.)
    Sizing: This is a one size fits most design (neck opening approx. 28", length from collar edge to bottom approx. 20.5").
    You can increase for larger sizes by adding multiples of 12 to the starting chain. (This will double the number of stitches overall at the bottom edge of the collar.)

    Bonnie...Thank you for such a succinct and easy tutorial for learning the Celtic Cable stitch! I have watched MANY and gave up trying to learn it. That is until this video popped up in my feed yesterday. I watched it halfway and then started it over while I had yarn and hook in hand. Very excited and grateful to learn this stitch! Again, thank you! 💖✨🧶

    LOVE the yarn and the pattern is scrumptious for summer! Athough the cotton in this yarn is fairly stable, it still has stretch. When I do this pattern, I'll probaby use 1 size smaller hook for the starting chain and the celtic weave stitches. Have a lovely week! My lilacs are in bloom and I'll pull my lounge chair close to those on the patio when I start this one.

    Thank you for the comprehensive pattern ! If I could start this project over again, I would certainly begin with eight chains LESS than instructed as I would prefer a tighter neck area and intend to add more rows to create a tighter neck area at the finish. At the end, I shall also create a final row of single crochet before adding beads for structure and weight. Additionally, as I take a close look at the finished piece and count the basketweave rows, It is unmistakable that the basket weave is continued for an additional two rows, becoming Rows 11 and 12.

    Absolutely gorgeous! I have an Irish friend I would like to make this for but she is a big lady. Her blouse size is an American plus size 26 and she has a big chest. Would I need to add extra rounds to allow it to be enlarged in the chest area or would I need to add more to that first round, adding more cables and lace or just more lace? Or is this truly a one size fits all? I will be using cotton for it, and as you day, with cotton it will stretch a little. But if I make it for her I want it to fit and for her not to just see it but be unable to wear it. Ideally I would like her to be surprised when she gets it rather than asking her to try it on every round or two to make sure it is going to fit. Thanks for any insight you can give me. The only other way I could think of to do something like this is instead of doing it in the round, to go back and forth and use a shawl pin to attach the capelette together. Thanks again!

    • @BonnieBayCrochet
      @BonnieBayCrochet  Год назад +1

      You can add multiples of 12 to the original starting chain on this one Shelley. Just keep in mind that the number of stitches in the collar will double from Round 1 to the last round (of Celtic Weave). So when you add 12 sts to the neckline, that will be 24 extra stitches in the upper arm area.

    Two things that are missing for this pattern on love crafts is the yardage needed and the sizing. I need to know if it will fit around me through the shoulders and the tummy. I also need to know if I already have enough yarn. Could you please let me know?

    • @BonnieBayCrochet
      @BonnieBayCrochet  Год назад +2

      This information is included in the written pattern. I'll post here for you Kelly: Yarn - approx. 800 yds of your choice of #2 yarn (I used 3 balls of Premier Yarn's Cotton Fair in video tutorial, 317 yd/290 m per ball.) This is a one size fits most design (neck opening approx. 28", length from collar edge to bottom approx. 20.5"). You can increase for larger sizes by adding multiples of 12 to the starting chain. (This will double the number of stitches overall at the bottom edge of the collar.)

      @@marthacastro9162 once you complete the Celtic Weave yoke, the lace uses far less yarn.

    please see this! How easy is this to make longer? Is it obvious?

      I have some merino with what I call crazy colors. Its finger weight. Lol I call most of those that change colors too crazy for me! I bought this from that place that sells that cliffs of mother yarn. You mentioned that yarn on a scarf I made. Yes lol I just had to give it a try! Its not totally soft. But enough! And omg its sturdy. Well I bought all of this yarn to make a queen blanket--weaving. I bought plenty of extra as I'm a newbie weaver. Well I went overboard! My niece will love this. But I'm told she would love this a lot longer. I only have about 3 weeks and I'm slow! Thanks so much! It will match "her" blanket!

      You can just continue the pattern extra rounds to make this longer. It should be obvious at that point.😊

    This shawl is beautiful but not fun to crochet. The reason I crochet is because it is fun and relaxing. I understand hard stitches and have worked them. This one is not fun to me.

      Then don't crochet it 😂 I like a challenge so I will but you don't need to feel forced to do it if you don't want to 😊

    Bonnie I am so sad to say the beautiful yarn I intended to make this cape is not going to work. There is so much halo I can't see the stitches clearly. It is supposed to be a 2, but I think it is more like a 1. I have some white, and I'm going to try that. So, I'm back to the beginning. I'm not giving up. The green I have will work better when I can work on spaces.

    Не нравится , когда титрами перекрывают вязание и без перевода. Не интересно смотреть и нет схемы.
