Note to everyone on this project: 1) BUY THE WRITTEN PATTERN! The cost is so minimal and it's vital to have on hand, especially for reference. Bonnie's patterns, compared to so many others, are as succinct and well organized as her videos. I add my own notes and highlights to each row [think row counts, stitch counts, distinctions per row, et al]. 2) USE THE VIDEO as support. This is like having Bonnie personally teaching a class. Who says distance learning is awful? I travel and always have projects with me while away from home. The videos are like having a "Bonnie in my pocket." Remind me to tell you all the places Bonnie's been with me. 3) SWATCH USING YARNS you think you'd like for projects! Reference the video links for spectific stitch support. I've been crocheting and knitting all my life, thanks to my grandmothers, and am still climbing the learning curve at age 71. Bonnie's been my personal tutor via her videos for her beautiful designs. 4) SHARE your outcomes and insights with the rest of us! We all learn from commuity like this one.
I made this in acrylic in denim blue. I have learned new stiches. Took a lot of effort to learn something new . Thanks for giving me a chance to exercise my brain. 😂 It looks really nice and I get compliments when I wear it.
Oh Bonnie, you are amazing! Another beautiful item to add to my list. Maybe I'll do this one as soon as I'm done with your Celtic Blanket I'm working on. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful talent with us.
Thank you, Bonnie! I made this for my mom for Mother's Day and she loved it! Very clear instructions and beautiful cape. It ended up a tiny bit shorter than I'd hoped even after blocking, so I made a pair of gloves out of the same yarn to fit with the cape. Thank you very much for the help!
This is an absolutely incredible pattern-very, very well conceived, designed, and executed. Thank you for this beauty! My daughter-in-law loves fuchsia, copper, and deep blue tones-I see more than one in my future…I’m thinking of tan with black collar and bottom trim for myself!!! Thank you, Bonnie (I think🥴)…I just simply love this design❤
This cape is so awesome and beautiful .you're an artist.I'll try to realize it.Thanks for sharing.I'm new in your channel and I love what you do so much.
I'm lost of words to write, I never thought I could crochet but ever since I have watched your videos I got better and better thank you so much for my❤️ for taken your time to share your amazing talent
I finished this project today and it came out so lovely! It is the fanciest crochet garment I have made to date. I throughly enjoyed making it. Thank you so much for creating these designs and these tutorials for everyone, Bonnie!! 💛
Wow! Thats beautiful. I hope i can make something so pretty soon. I just started crocheting first week of September and made a velvet fringed scarf and am making a wool blend afghan. 😀👍🏻 love this project. Thanks, Bonnie.
This cape is so pretty. I’ll have to learn the weave and Celtic weave stitch. I’ve tried several times to learn the cable stitch but no luck, as well as the granny stitch. I have a few stitches to learn. I’ve seen your work and it’s beautiful!🤩
I've wanted to make this since I first saw it (and it must have been soon after it was released), but had only ever made granny squares and plushies. I had no idea what I was doing, then, but rewatching it now I think I'd definitely be able to (finally!!) make it. Time to put it on my to do list for real :)
Your tutorial is amazing I finished one by using acrylic yarn and it came out nicely... will try to make one with wool yarn. Thank you so much for this beautiful project you shared 😍😍😍
Wow! first time seeing your channel , You got a new follower , You have so much talent. You got my respect, and I've been crocheting for about 50 years . I love a challenge. Thank you for sharing!
Yes, early 70's, no tutorials , just your brain and a pattern. I always crocheted lacy doileys and knitted with yarn. I had to give up a few years ago when I started loosing my vision . I realised I could still crochet with yarn, things sure have changed.
This is just lovely. Not so long ago, I would not have made any attempt to craft anything so beautifully detailed as this cape. You, though your tutorials, have given me the confidence to crochet items I thought I never would. Thank you for that. Enjoy the day...
Same with me 😊 I've done about everything you can do with granny squares ! I am however stuck on row 10 ! (I'm only following the video & writing the stitches as I go) If I have followed everything correctly I finish row 9 with an increase stitch the end stitch being a SINGLE CROCHET stitch, Sooooo in all logic I should start row 10 with "CHAIN 2 & DOUBLE CROCHET" however in the video you start by a "SINGLE CROCHET" I've re read my notes & ré checked them with the video so far ..... it just does not line up (I've even got the correct amount of stitches - a major achivement for me because I USUALLY have undone my work à couple of time before ever getting so far 😀 ) I would be so happy if you BonnieBayCrochet or anyone else could help me out (if you can understand my message ) Thank you once again for such a beautifull cape and easy tutorial, keep up updating us with such fun projets 😉
Hi, I am battling with row six. Your video says chain two, then double crochet into the first stitch, then single into the next, then double and single into the next. My pattern followed along perfect and I ended row five on the same as you, but my row six only has to stitch spaces before the cable starts and I can't see on your video where the second double crochet and single crochet goes into? Is that in the first stitch of the cable?
Was frustrated in the beginning with back post treble cross. Ripped it out 5 times. Didn't give up, now I'm on the 26 and its all good. Thank you so much for this tutorial!
Bought the pattern from lovecraft after watching quite a bit of the vid, so I could take this to work and work on it on my breaks. Am using Drops Paris yarn, and it's so much fun to make. Did find a difference from your vid and your pattern. Row 39 says the increase is (sc,dc) while your vid (much to my happiness) says (dc,sc) with that = 16 stiches. Which is what I've got!!!! So glad I didn't panic and try to rip rows out trying to work out where I'd gone wrong. Making this for my mother-in-law for her birthday. I'm positive she'll love it. I've already got girls at work wanting me to make one for them. Thank you for sharing this pattern with us!!
Bonnie, this cape is gorgeous! I love the cables. I learned how to do them on BagoDay’s site. And loved doing them. Also love front and back post stitches. I’ll need to increase the size to at least a 3X. So I think a 5 weight yarn and a size K needle should work…. Your instructions are very clear. I’ve seen other caplets, but they are made with more open stitch like V stitches. This will be warmer and much more detailed. Thank you for doing this tutorial
I have the magazine that this is published in, and on the second row of the Celtic, the first two and the last two stitches are shown in the chart as BPdc.
So I am scrolling along and looking for a pocket shawl and see this beauty. Wow. This pattern is magnificent and I am now subscribed to your channel. I do have one questions. I would like to make this for my mother and she is a size XL or XXL. What would I need to do to increase this a bit? Thank you.
Got this in progress and am in love with it. Using a multi-tone mohair blend which slows me down -- I'm addicted to complications -- since the furry yarn doesn't frog easily. Post stitches in this yarn, especially the triples, is a "go very slowly and exactly" but I'm getting the hang of it. THANK YOU for this gorgeous pattern!!!
Sigh...ever rethink a yarn choice for a project? I was doing lots of frogging and realized this lovely yarn is too fine weight and would be better for knitting. I picked up some Lion Brand ReSpekt [originally thought to use for a bag] and worked up a sample. It's perfect!!! Most of all, THANK YOU, Bonnie, for this incredible video and your stunning design. Some day, I'll learn to be less whimsical about my yarn choices. The current yarn is giving great stitch definition, sufficient weight, and is soooo much easier to work.
@@ritariordan2664 Yes! I have to rework yarn all...the...time! It's the only way to learn - perhaps more than we wish! So glad this is working out for you. Another thought on yarn: often times for publications, designers are assigned which yarn to use and have little choice. This is one reason why I like self-publishing as much as I can. I get to make what I think is an excellent choice in yarn rather than catering to a specific brand. Guess I'm a free thinker!
Hi! I have crocheted this cape in XXL. I added 8x4 stitches on the starting row in order to match my size but now its finished and absolutely perfect!!! Thank you for the great tutorial! Greetings from Bavaria, Germany
