Master Mode Any%

Sub 25 was the goal and I managed to get it. Master mode runs rely a lot on rng drops so they're a bit difficult to optimize but I'm happy with this one. I know I could improve the time a lot but for now I'll leave it as is.

Master mode means that the normal mode weapon routing isn't viable due to enemies being leveled up (so sneakstrikes don't immediately kill them) and stunlock not working on calamity. Instead we use the lynel on plateau for weapons which is pretty cool, but also introduces quite a bit of rng. If you want to see more BotW runs stop by my twitch www.twitch.tv/player5

YT just suggested a previous Master Mode PB of yours: 11 Months ago you were at 42 minutes. I know it was a pretty meh run for your standards, but still to improve it by so much in such a short time is so impressive. Well done!

I may have spent a long time away from this game, but I don't think I _ever_ expected the time differential between this game's difficulties to go down to just barely a minute. By the end of 2020, Any% Master Mode was still 6+ minutes behind Normal. Normal Mode's progress since then has been wild, but seeing Master Mode progress in such a comparatively rapid pace has felt unreal. Watching you squash the Lynel (that, in 2018, killed so many of my Temple Rocket Launches) and using its bow to invalidate Master Mode Calamity Phase 2 was so cathartic.

Dang you’re insane. Botw is one of my favorite games. I wonder how totk speedrunning would look because of the seemingly many possible glitches, as well as the ultrahand ability. The possibilities are endless.

In all fairness, I have no idea who you are but I found your video specifically because I love watching speedruns and I’d prefer to see the world record over any attempts. In fact I subscribed because your world record on trial of the sword master mode was very entertaining, acknowledging your errors as not the end of the world, but “ehh that sucks, I’ll adapt” as well as your witty conversations with your stream “oh... umm... disclaimer: I don’t recommend eating your shirt if I PB”
With just the 3 videos I’ve seen of you all back to back, I only know you minimally, yet I can say with zero authority; your controller suffers as much as a competitive super smash brothers Fox main’s controller :P

At one point people were trying to reroute master mode and see if it could be faster but I don't remember how that turned out. The RNG involved would've been even worse since the lynel was killed after plateau to have a way of quickly moving the boulder to it. I don't think the current routing has any chance of being faster since my golds would have to be improved by over a minute, but there's definitely still quite a bit of room to improve them.

No, I think master mode can be quite a bit faster but more on the lines of 20 seconds than 1 minute. Also I'm probably done with master mode for a while.

I thought that the lynel bow was the only one in my inventory since in normal mode any% we drop the traveler's bow in castle. I was trying to unequip the lynel bow so that the bow of light would be auto equipped but instead ended up equipping the traveler's bow (in retrospect it wouldn't have mattered since menuing 1 to the right would've been the same as unequipping the bow). I use audio cues from the music to prefire the light arrows and any extra time spent menuing throws off the timing very slightly.
