Kevin is 100% why I bought one as my first RC. Heck I wouldn't have bought any RC without this channel. Traxxas owes him money. Only issues I've had are the inner wheel bearings immediately had all their seals pop off and of coarse, the rear of the body bending down and cracking.
And if you want to make it indestructible use RPM parts, I recommend leaving the stock hinge pins for the suspension arms on because if anything is going to break you want it to be them, very cheap to replace and can be changed in 30 seconds.
Hey well explained. I still run my original 6s Xmaxx and love it, still totally stock, only repairs have been the diff rings and pinions. Personally I dont think this truck has to be crazy fast to have fun, it doesn't need to win a race. It's all round handling and fun factor puts a bigger smile on my face than any of my other RC's.

A good tip I learned from Ryan Lutz about the grub screws on pinions, center drive couplers etc, is that the flatter the grub part of the screw the better lock it will provide. ie more force required to break it free from its torque. The manufacturing process' companies use on most grub screws leave a raised circular area around the outside of the screw like what can be seen on the rotor shaft in the video. Before instaling, put the grub screw on your hex driver and run the bottom of the screw across some sandpaper and give it a nice flat spot.

Tip: When you don't want to strip out a thread in plastic, then just turn a screw slowly anti clockwise until you feel the screw pop, because that's the point where the thread of the screw and the thread in the plastic align with each other, and then you wil feel how easy the screw is getting back in. And don't overtighten the screw because that could cause the plastic thread to strip anyways.
I just got my first proper RC truck, the Traxxas Maxx. The X-Maxx looked too intimidating as did the price tag since I had to buy batteries, a charger and a few other bits. My son is 10 and we're looking for something for him now in the 2s or 3s range. Love the videos, love the nonsense when racing.
I’ve had my Xmaxx for about a month now and literally last night I took out the stock spur to swap in the 46 tooth speed gear. I wanted to see if more wheel speed would equal easier back flips and wheelies. But after opening the packaging and reading the literature which says not for off road bashing , I put the 54t back in. And today I see Kev use that gear and bash the heck out of it.
I finally ran my 8s Kraton for the first time after sitting in the box since first shipment when I got it, then I ran my Xmaxx n Xmaxx is still my top dogg!!

Just gotta say something about the X-Maxx. I got mine almost a year ago already, and I never had an issue with it. I one tried To jump it a good 20 feet, it landed right on the tire and kept rolling until it hit a metal pole. I was so worried but the car took it like a champ and survived. The x Maxx is DEFINITELY my favorite. It's like a Timex watch. It takes a lickin and keeps on kickin. DEFINITELY DEFINITELY worth every bit off money you pay for it. I love your vids Kevin Talbot. I think it would be awesome to come over and hang out and bash with you and your buddy's.
I agree with this video. After many battery packs, the xmaxx 8s does break less than my other vehicles, including all my Arrma vehicles. I even got rid of all my 6s Arrma rigs because they break so easily on bad landings. The Outcast 8s is durable, but it breaks rear wing mounts and bolts after a few bad landings if you don't land perfectly. It also bends and breaks the bolts that hold the steering knuckles to the steering links. The Kraton 8s is even WORSE because it bends the driveshafts easily until they look like jump ropes. I don't even jump my 8s Arrmas more than 15ft into the air and I only land on grass and dirt. Any higher than that and my chassis would probably bend. I'm actually thinking about selling my K8S because of the driveshaft issues. The O8S does bend driveshafts too but not as bad as the K8S. I can jump the xmaxx as high as I want and even land on concrete with my X-Maxx without any worries. The xmaxx is not perfect, but it does take the abuse well. I have upgraded stuff on mine like rpm hinge pins, the ESC, and the body. I like the xmaxx so much that I bought one for my step-dad and I recently bought another one and went straight to the max 5 esc and 5687 1100kv motor combo and 1.5 gearing. It's a freaking BEAST with those electronics. I'm still testing it out, but it's amazing how fast it is. 50mph on grass with 25/35 gearing no problem. I will not jump it too high with the extra weight, so it should be fine. I usually don't go higher than 15ft
I used to have a little stampede which was freaking awesome. The perfect little basher for beginners imo. It’s pretty cheap and the parts are cheap too. Even upgrades! I freaking love Traxxas lol
When did they stop making these with gas engines? I had a TMaxx I think it was, but it was 15 years ago. But it was gas powered, that’s why I bought it. I saw one in a park and had to have one. Are gas powered RCs still a thing or did it kind of die out when better battery tech came along?
Hi kev i think we should put a little loctite on the grub Screw or în the hole of the pinion otherwise we will struggle to replace it when it s damage.. i tell you from my experience even with the pinion press îs hard to get it out without damage the motor. thank you!
Damn! I had no idea these were that big lol. I just got the rustler 4x4 vxl and i am absolutely loving it! Such a pricey hobby though. Now I’m like oh i want lights i want new shocks i need street tires…. It snowballs real quick
I looovvvee the 2-wheeling while turning...seriously impressive! Both the driving skills and the pure power/geometry of the vehicle. Although, to be fair, I'm not entirely sure if it is more about the skill or the technical capability of the vehicle...

Haha... I watch both of you. Anyone else here knows Manni?

Big boy toy 😂
Always wanted to have an RC car..but dont have money for it..ill just enjoy watching your videos..God bless
Cant wait to get one Kev! Thanks for the review! Fingers crossed that Santa brings me one this year. That is if i can save up the 1000$ to send him.
And they doesn’t include the $500 for the batteries 😅
The x Maxx is DEFINITELY my favorite. It's like a Timex watch. It takes a lickin and keeps on kickin. DEFINITELY DEFINITELY worth every bit off money you pay for it. I love your vids Kevin Talbot. I think it would be awesome to come over and hang out and bash with you and your buddy's.
think he need some money
i had 6 ads in 8 minutes
I had 2 ads on the video
3 ads
I saw 3 yellow bricks but only got 2 ads. He does not chose how much ads there are in, i think yt choose it self
How do you think he gets all of his RC cars?
I got no ads and I'm not premium
that water ride was ridiculous - woooowwwwww
I own 2 of them and looking to get a 3rd absolutely love them and my trx4
I have no good grounds to run a rig like the Xmaxx, but plenty for my new trx4. But yeah the Xmaxx looks awesome.
I’m in 7th grade and saved up for a trx4 and a 2wd rustler vxl, I love them both but can’t afford an xmaxx one day tho hopefully
@@slick1523 just buy a maxx
The only problem is THE PRICE
@Bippolas Beige I'll take the xmax all day lol at least it will run longer than a day unlike the caravan.
Getting my first xmaxx tomorrow can't wait 🤗
Funny that, was just saying to the missus that we could do with changing the car, think this one should do 😆.
Hey, i can dream
Change car and buy a longboard and a rope? Or little red wagon? Way more fun for the environment...or clean or whatever
I just bought the Hoss, and I'm glad I did, now I'm considering the maxx, can't go less. 😄
You forgot to say. "Can it run on water, yes! But a boat will probably do it better"
Are gas powered RCs still a thing or did it kind of die out when better battery tech came along?
cooles youtub, and super cool Kevin talking!
I argue that the summit is the best rc. If they made a 1/5 scale model.
I hope they make 1/5 scale summit
Kev: metal, plastic, hammer😈
Haha
Hi kev i think we should put a little loctite on the grub Screw or în the hole of the pinion otherwise we will struggle to replace it when it s damage.. i tell you from my experience even with the pinion press îs hard to get it out without damage the motor. thank you!
for like 900 dollars it should be the best rc car lmfao
Ikr
Truly the king of all RC cars x
My dream is to get a Traxxas x-maxx I will still surviving with a UDR
You over many videos have convinced me to save up for a Xmaxx rock n roll RTR. Thank you. Still hating on Traxxas though✔️😂🍻
Damn! I had no idea these were that big lol. I just got the rustler 4x4 vxl and i am absolutely loving it! Such a pricey hobby though. Now I’m like oh i want lights i want new shocks i need street tires…. It snowballs real quick
My new X-MAXX had a fun time on it's first run... It dunked itself in the ocean!!!
Wow that suspension seems so smooth lands so well!
I looovvvee the 2-wheeling while turning...seriously impressive! Both the driving skills and the pure power/geometry of the vehicle. Although, to be fair, I'm not entirely sure if it is more about the skill or the technical capability of the vehicle...
