I'm a 42 yr old dad who just recently returned to the hobby with my autistic 14 yr old son. He runs a heavily modded 2wd Rustler, and my rig started life as a 3s Arrma Granite, but it's evolved into a 6s Typhon/Big Rock/Granite truggy sort of thing. We'd love to own an 8s Traxxas but with my son's special care/schooling the funds just aren't there. Anyway, we love your vids Kevin. My son especially loves the build sequences, as his mind is very "engineering" focused. Keep up the great work!

Same motor/ESC combo as my XRT but I kept eating diffs so fitted Vitavon ring and pinions gears and so far it's holding up. Great content as always Kev!

How much did the esc and motor cost you
@@alonzotorres6361 not sure without looking up, but bought through modelsport so the price on there minus VAT as I’m in the Channel Islands. Tbh the motor/esc is one of the cheaper parts in the big picture of a big can swap, with things like a decent set of packs, drivetrain mods, mounts etc costing just as much if not more
I find with Traxxas you can’t just throw in a big motor, you end up upgrading half the car for it to be somewhat reliable

I have a Big motor XRT. And I just love all the power it has. Its not a racer its not a drive around the back yard truck. its an out of control, wheels are always off the ground, way to much, and i just enjoy playing with this huge 20+ lbs RC. I think, I most enjoy... is pushing this car and learning to control the crazy amount of fun it has.

I was into rc cars back in the 90's had some battery and some nitro ones but life and family get in the way. Finding your vidoes has re ignited my love of them. Keep the videos coming lo e watching them.
Great videos Kevin! My son Pim, who turned 12 last Wednesday, also loves watching your videos, although the English is a bit difficult for him sometimes since we are from the Netherlands. He rides a Traxxas Rustler with his friends and watches your videos for inspiration and repair and upgrade tips as well. A XRT would definitely be next level for him and a great Birthday present 😃. It would be fun to make a front wing to see if you can keep the front end down during a speed run.
Found the best line IMO for belting tires when you make more power you should check out. Its Spider Wire 20lbs test fishing line. its braided line and almost impossible to pop the stuff. Just something to check out if you want to. Watching you has gotten my whole family into RC bashing now just seeing the nice community seems like a great place to take our daughter for good family fun. Much love from my family to yours, and keep up the amazing work.

Awesome build, it’s not the answer for the skate park, but if you want to put all that power to the ground proline bad lands are what you need…can get the glued ones or switch out the steel screws to aluminum screws on the bead locks to save weight

I would love to see you modify an old school Tamiya frog, hotshot or even the Road Wizard to be a beast.
Been running Tamiya since the 80's, and I wish we had some love for the classics.
Kev, you need to get into full-scale drag racing, next- a lot of the skills regarding chassis setup transfer over, too- you'll learn how to keep that front end down while giving it the beans!
Is nice! Time to pull the motor mount out of my Xmaxx and get it in my XRT. Then both will have Max5/800kv drivetrains. I bought the M2C mount for the Xmaxx so now the ESC will stop breaking off.
I watch your videos all the time I can't get enough of them teach me so much I built my own four-by-four Traxxas stampede I keep blowing drive shafts why need help 😢
I've got those kraton wheels on my rustler. Can almost drive when upside-down. But rocking on off throttle flips back over by itself

the best thing about the traxxas maxx is that the ESC has a mode that almost elliminated the wheelies even under full power, though it possible that it does so by heavily reducing the power of the motor so you really never are putting down full power and the only way to prevent wheelies under ful power is adding a lot of ballast to the front like perhaps a kilo.

You need to get the CofG forward Kev. Just for speed test purposes attach a couple of 12mm threaded bars through the front shocks (somehow!) pointing forwards ahead of the car. On these fix something small & heavy. Ugly? Yes. Dangerous? Very. Will it prove hundreds of pounds of mods actually make the car go faster? Possibly.

Bought one of the XRT in blue last saturday. What a fun car.
It probably been mentioned before but what if you install a wing on the front to create more downforce, avoiding it to wheel and get more traction, you would go faster... I think...

This power reminds me of when the E Revo first came out and people had it on 6s
I put the max 5 G2 and 1100kv G2 with WFO 35/30 gearing in my XRT... I'm on punch 4 It wheelies immediately.. I can wind the speed out a bit down the field but if I try to punch it it will wheelie again even at top speeds.. has the sledgehammer belted tires as well as the original ones were no match for that motor setup?

kev says he doesn't really know what hes doing half the time with RC cars, but he's got to be in the top 0.001% of RC car experts globally right? he's taking apart and upgrading all the stock rc cars he buys like its nothing, he's trying to break the freaking rc car speed record three different ways. what level of expert is he really?

I have basically the same system, max5 g2 5690, 1250kv in a basically stock xrt. Using 32/13 and honestly seems like I should go a bit taller.
god hearing the old team edge intro brought back memories. also something that might help with the wheelie problem at full power, put a front wing on it for down force at the front

Try that speed run again with the belted slicks, limited travel in the front and stiffening in the rear ❤
All that power reminds me of my race tuned tmaxx. It does about 90 mph and it's really hard to stop the front end lifting.👍💚💛❤️
Longer chassis or something all I can think of but you know what it’s not my car do what you want with it and I love the t maxx
@@Agera1of1 it's meant to have a wheelie bar and wheel on but hasn't. I've got another one in bits with aluminium parts instead of plastic but never get round to using any of my r/c things these days. Cheers 👍💚💛❤️
