Bought 2 Traxxas Slash 4x4vxl’s about 6 months ago as a start to the hobby for my son and I. Paid $425 each for them. With normal usage (ZERO huge jumps or skate parks ) I’m into both cars nearly $500 IN PARTS. Replaced everything on both cars except the speed controllers and servos. Not a cheap hobby. Just the other day I was pondering with a coworker wether or not if guys who buy a $1000 RC like this come out better OR did they buy a 1000 car & still wind up replacing everything like I did? Having 2 of them means every time we have a failure I go ahead and buy the upgrade for both cars. Adds up quick I tell you. Love your content Kevin 👋🏼
super late lol but. I have had my max for 6 months doing huge jumps skateparks beaches etc. a-arms drive shafts is the only thing I have to replace. Well the esc aswell but everyone swaps those because the maxx ones are trashy

Have you ever thought of building an RC from known good parts, be they RC manufacturer or aftermarket to see if it’s cheaper to build it right from the get go?
KT, for tyres I ended up using MadMax 5ive-T beadlock mini pins, (stick 5ive-T tyres will work as well), w/duct tape on the inside. A bit smaller, but no ballooning or de-gluing. Also went with a Reefs 1/5 scale servo, which did require some chassis mods, but well worth it.

That 3D printed wing mount was printed in the wrong orientation. It should have been printed vertically so it won't rely on the layers to hold it together.

I’m also going to get the Arma Senton. It seems like such a good deal for such a good price! It’s quite strong and it handles well. I would recommend also buying a dust cover to keep the electronics clean and maybe a spare battery as they can run out quickly.
Can you please do a video on the new arrma kraton 4s i was gonna get the kraton 6s but I think the 4s version would be stronger because of the plastic chassis so I’m not sure which one to get
Hi Kevin, would you be able to recommend a great 1/10th scale (or close to 1/10th scale) rc basher that isn't too expensive and great for a beginner? I had a wltoys 14401 that was about $150 AUD (I'm Australian btw) and it broke within the first 15 minutes of use despite me not even bashing it. when I had checked what broke it turned out to be a drive shaft because of how thin they are. I don't expect you to answer me but I hope you do as I would like to re enter the rc car world.
I simply want to have a RC bash session with kev and have a crew of people who just want to drive RCs all the time! Get the kids involved and teach them. That would be ABSOLUTELY EPIC!

Oh nice as you've just got if you do break the 2085 servo tabs from bashing as kev did and i did then instead of buying another servo and standard size servo adapter plate. M2C have just brought out the 1218 XR SERIES STEERING SERVO BRACE you can use it even with broken servo tabs. I wish they brought it out earlier i could've saved some money myself.
I put washer and longer screw plus locknut pulled silver thing out my m2c bell crank. I upgraded to 2085x . I think the m2c wide kit to much force on it what do you think? I did put my washer at the bottom vs the top.
Pay $1000, limited to upgrades in chassis, it is like a cheap hotel 0 ball room. The pin hinges on arms pop out/bend, tires blow up, drivetrain rips apart completely(hw ESC installed).... I sent it back for a full refund. $1000 usd and the thing is garbage. Engine back came off.... WORST RC EVER FOR THE $, JUST LIKE XMAXX. Made for the little man copping with small man syndrome. Words of wisdom, Traxxas is excellent 3s down, I own 4. Anything bigger go else where or have deep pockets. All the extra things Kevin does are necessary for longevity/durability of a Traxxas 6s+, after spending the $1000 dollars on the rig. Your at 2k easily for batteries and charger, tires, new electronics (cause Traxxas electronics belong in a dumpster past 3s) and than all the extra money to buy parts to even fit the new electronics. It's a nice way to say "welcome to the family, your gonna have to buy your way out."

Hey Kevin watched you used scooter wheels before have you ever thought about roller derby wheels probably about the same size as some rc car wheels only stronger may I suggest rollline gladiator
I adapted an extra strap on both the front and rear bulkheads after breaking the plastic that has no metal. rear was far easier than the front... if I were to do it again id just get the metal ones

the hole inte bottom is for airflow so the servo doesnt overheat
And for little rocks so they dont get stuck between the steering assembly

The vents on the bottom are for venting the servo, the Traxxas ones are very weak and crap out easily.

Kevin did you use the Bluetooth adapter and the Traxxas app to turn the ESC up to 120%?

Could you make a jumper thats really good at jumping and better at landing with like quadcopter parts. It don't have to fly just cushion the landing

Play around with steering gyros and motocross tracks. You'll have a lot more fun with the bigger trucks.

The front and rear upper bulkheads are a weak point as well. I had to replace mine after 4 battery packs.
