It has been such a pleasure to watch this; I thought I was the only person in the world to clean my boots like this. I'm not vain. I'm not good-looking. But if you look after your boots, they'll look after you. A particular point was brushing the tongues after the laces were removed; so much debris gathers there. Nice one, Angelo.

The whole reason u go to a shoe shiner, is to clean ur shoes, to make them not dirty. To make them shine. It's like going to the dentist, because u dont want ur teeth to fall out
No, it doesn't. Not in my experience. In my younger years, I was in the military and used to have this done pretty often, particularly towards the end of Basic, during tech school, or if I had upcoming parade, inspection, important scheduled meetings, or while I was travelling and out in public in dress uniform for extended periods of time. On occasion, I would have my combat boots shined as well (before jungle boots were standard issue in my branch of service), again, usually before important events where fatigues were the required uniform. When my boots were truly dirty, I usually took good care of them and kept them clean and polished, because A. it was a requirement, and B. new combat boots weren't cheap on a slick sleeve's paycheck.

He worked hard, out in coal mining strips and gravel quarries putting off shots, but he would spend every sunday afternoon cleaning all our shoes, my black and white saddle locks gleamed. When I turned 13 he bought me a pair of light tan mule hide western boots, he loved shining those boots. I still have those boots up in my mom's attic, they've been up there 30 yrs or more now.
