Earlier this year, I started a movie group with my friends and it gives me the chance to share movies that my friends wouldn’t watch otherwise. Many of them are schlocky 80’s horror and we all have fun.
Physical media forever blue rays DVDs and 4ks is the best wayyyy to watch movies 🎥 cds 💿 and records too I love them I need to buy more bookshelves for my physical media
100% agree with everything you said. I got back into collecting physical media a couple years ago, and the first things I did were to buy a 4K projector, 110” screen, and a 4K blu ray player. I already had a great sound system, and now with the projector and 4K discs it truly feels like a theater quality experience. Along with what you said, I have also vastly expanded my exposure to older films, foreign films, etc. As a product of the 80s and 90s, I still lean towards that era and newer movies, but have really enjoyed watching films from Japan, Korea, Germany, etc as well as old black and white films. Great channel, thanks for sharing your experiences!
I never stopped collecting physical media. Having the disc (movie or music) is key to how I understand it. Upgraded to a 5.1 surround sound over a decade ago (lots of wires) to enjoy surround sound albums, had no idea what I was missing in movies. The wife and me stick to a mixture of streaming and disc movies. If what we stream really strikes us, we pick up a DVD of it. Too many great movies have disappeared off streaming and are out of print (eg. Pollock and Salinger). We definitely learned the hard way! Took me years, but I was able to get a copy of Doctor Detroit on DVD.
It looks like you're ready to go big - projector-big. Volume up, lights down, player on - highly, highly recommended! Incidentally, I've been listeni g to this video while setting things up for my Friday Movie Night (yeah, I know, the capitalisation is a bit over the top, but, hey, it's Friday!) Good old action that I only recently got on bluray: The Rock. Shshaun Connery and Nicolas Cage sneaking into...places. For some reason, I have a weak spot for tbat movie. Oh, and it WILL get LOUD. Thank you for sharing - and Happy Friday!
I just got the postman with kevin costner in the mail today. Im excited to rewatch it after many year's. As for me im not to much into 4k for films i havent watched. Im in canada and 4k are not as cheap as in the states. We dont get any deals up here.😢
Great to own movies that can't be censored. To watch them whenever wanted. 😊 I have over a thousand now and still need about 100 more to fill my collection. Finding more room to store more is the only problem so far. 😂
@@HomeVideoHangouts Indeed. I have digitized most of my music. I enjoy collecting the steelbooks and variants. The art on the covers of movies. I have more records than cds now because of the cover art. 8 buy new movies abs then wonder where I am going to put them. Need at least another stand. I find them cheap at used goods stores. Digitizing content I I solution but I do enjoy looking at the covers from time to time.
I've been collecting DVDs, blu rays, and 4K films (and some TV) since 2001, when I was in my early 20s. I never stopped, and now I have more than 2,800 different films in my collection, most of them on blu ray/4K. What brand of 4K TV do you have, Cody?

It's also on Blu-ray.

Nice! I may consider a projector if I move to a larger space but im happy with my set up for now. Enjoy your movie night!
I couldn't agree more. Exactly like my setup and my Friday night movie was rewatching the ever classic Total Recall.

Thats awesome! I have a 77 inch LG C1. I thinks its a good tv for both movies and gaming. My next tv will probably be a LG.G series tv
@HomeVideoHangouts I'm looking at getting the LG G4 77" myself soon.
Awesome! I saw on amazon they have third party sellers selling refurbished or like new ones for more than $500 off.

Got the bikeriders off ebay came in mail yesterday
Nice!
How physical media changed my life is now I'm always broke lmao. Love owning my movie's in 4k physically though!
Its all part of the fun haha.
What players would everyone suggest that plays all dvd formats? 4k, blue ray and dvd? 🤔 (and all regions). Edit: and cds!
Don't overlook your local public libraries. Check out DVDs, Blu-rays, and CDs, and if you really like something, buy a copy for yourself.
Yes libraries are a great option!
