The Frankie situation was so weird, all you ever did was test what he did and give valid criticism. I remember you had to apologise for it because of the completely unwarranted backlash, even I could see that and I was a big Frankie fan. It's amazing to me that some people would hold onto that and send hateful comments to you. Keep your head up! Love ya Phil mate

I actually really enjoyed 2kliks this year, it’s almost like RUclips has walled you off from reaching outsiders. I noticed this year my explore page was a lot of people I had already subbed too and then the occasional enormous multi million video and spam of shorts. Maybe it was always that way but it’s definitely interesting. On the bright side though, the access to your music this year has really made an impact with it becoming part of my regular playlist

As a random guy that enjoys your content, thank you for producing videos, I really like them, it's hard to find people that do content that they love, even if the industry is trying to bend them over.
As for the video games, I'd tell you to try AA games, not indies or big budget games, but those games that are hard to find because they most likely belong to a niche.
I was in a rough spot too, after being burned out by competitive shooters, I was incredibly surprised by the Yakuza series, to this day they have earned all the spots that I had in my most favorites games list, they create games based on what they believe is fun, and being a Japanese studio the cultural barrier is bigger, which to my eyes is actually a good thing, because each of their games truly shines when you embrace that games are meant to be fun, silly, sad or wholesome, a huge array of things, not just mindless following trends.

As a big youtube watcher who enjoys some of your content from all 3 channels, I used to see a lot of you content on my homepage but it's been some time (6-8 months) I never see them apart from shorts on my homepage, I just rarely see now the videos of what I'm subscribed there only (7-12% of the videos suggested on my homepage are from channels I'm subscribed). In the end I felt like I didn't watched the content that I liked the most but passed more time watching short filler stuff that was on my homepage. Hope your channels do better in 2022

Normally I don't leave comments but 2 things stuck with me from this video that made me decide to leave this. Firstly, I'm sorry you've been getting so much negative attention and bad comments on your content klik, I love your videos and will go through periods of consuming different kinds of media on RUclips. Secondly, the thing you mentioned about TikTok being a non-direct competitor to RUclips's audience. I feel youre right about TikTok competing for the same consumer time because while I've found it extremely difficult to find entertaining long form content here on RUclips, tiktoks platform of quick, algorithm based short videos make it very easy to find stuff you enjoy watching while also being easy to skim through the stuff that doesn't interest you and continue to consume more. Just my thoughts

also, one possible reason i could see causing the recession is youtube's recommendation algorithm. i'm rarely shown videos i haven't already seen, and almost never recommend new channels, particularly small channels. everything that is recommended is family friendly, safe content, made for low attention spans.

so what im really happy with is your monthly covid vids. at first i wasnt interested in them. even now i cant say im super excited when you upload one, thought at some point i started watching them, or rather listen on background, like 2nd party priority videos. it all changed the moment i realized you could be doing this not much for "the whats happening in the world right now" news, but rather for a documentary for future. i realized how much information people could gather from these videos in 5 or 10 or even more years. i ecen imagined myself in future doing some kind of presentation or something for a history project (or more likely not me, but my friend, who is more interested in history) and maybe its just me, cause im obviously not watching whole RUclips, but at least for me you are the only content creator who documents this. and if I or my friend(s) will need this information in futute, I'll rewatch your videos or will recommend it to my friend(s). so keep on with it and thank you!

As someone who loves most of your videos, especially your unique game dev perspective, I think a big problem with your videos are titles and thumbnails. Even though I always love your videos when I click on them, doing exactly that is the hard part. I slept on Odgrub and total war for way too long because I wasn't super interested in the games, but you always make it interesting with your personality and humor. I think that might be why you have so few newcomers, because a lot of your titles and thumbnails don't really convey the greatness of the content. Just some speculation, I'm not a youtuber so can't really say for sure, but that's what I've felt personally. Hopefully your 2022 goes better because you truly have something special, I'm always excited to see what you do next!

It's stuff like this (The first part of your video) that constantly reminds me to always spread nice comments to creators I enjoy. People who have problems always share their statements first, but people without issue remain silent. I like knowing there's a silent majority that loves you and your content, Philip, but sometimes I think it's important to stop being silent. Your content is astounding, genuine and filled with passion. You inspire my emotions and have intelligent insights that I sometimes never even think of. Even when I quit CS:GO temporarily, I continued watching your content. The only content of yours I rarely watch is PC hardware because, frankly, I'm not really interested in it and your personality doesn't seem to come out in those videos as much.

To touch on what another comment wrote about the quote:
"It's been really, really tough to stay motivated when every month feels like more work for a little less result."
I don't know how we're all feeling this but I've felt it too. Like it just takes so much more effort to do the same thing. And it doesn't really make sense from an objective standpoint because it feels like thing sin my life are going relatively well, but yet somehow all unstable.
    1. I've been told I'm up for promotion from engineer to senior engineer in February, but that it hasn't happened yet so it feels like my financial situation is unstable as until then I'm not an employee and still get my contract renewed every couple of months.
    2. I don't know how I'm supposed to feel about inflation & what its long-term effects will be, so I don't know if earning more money will even matter or if we're in for a second great depression and/or hyperinflation.
    3. I'm working on a new game that feels better than anything I've made before it yet I've never been so worried about its release as I worry that people have been burnt out of technology in general since the pandemic, and furthermore that the games industry has extremely devalued itself so I might be forced to release the game as a free-to-play to get anything, and that gamers in general have become far more jaded and critical of anything released so maybe my best just isn't good enough because I don't have a team? Even AAA's best isn't good enough anymore it seems, even Halo had to go free to play. How can I compete with that?
Basically, is this extra effort at work going to get me that promotion to employee & senior? Will earning more money even matter if inflation goes rampant? Will the 6 hours a day I work on my game (on top of my normal job) even be worth it, will anyone even play it at launch?
It feels like everything is requiring so much from me with no certainties or stability. And it's really burning me out.

It seems a lot of content delivery is arbitrary. Personally, I'm being shown content by channels I'm not subbed to and will never watch again. This is quite annoying because my recommended page is littered with years-old videos that are just far from my interests. I found the 'interests' tab at the top to be quite intriguing; however, it seems the moment I follow a string of videos, the content I was exposed to before wholly vanishes. For example, it may go from CSGO -> guns - at which point I'll be shown no CSGO content until I actively remember. In content length, the videos I'm being suggested are either 20 minutes (with some being literally hours long). I have to commemorate you for trying so hard; I can't imagine how stressful it must be to have the goalposts constantly moved, and the need to keep an active audience entertained.

Yeah, i feel like the newer videos are less 'rewatchable' than older ones. I can understand myself not wanting to watch a video I saw yesterday, but if it was a month or two ago, and I still don't want to watch it, it's odd. Your series are often the most rewatchable for me, most notably the Game Making Journey, Sleep Disruption gambling, and going low in CSGO. Case Unboxing Millionaire (or CUM as i shall refer to it from here on within this comment) doesn't have what those series have, in a certain way. That way being that each video in the series is less unique, with sleep disruption, each of them focus on different types of 'sleep events', going low in CSGO has different matches, with different types of people in each, and with different things you're trying to do towards the end of the series (E.G. knifing people). CUM has very similar videos throughout, with each video essentially being the same format.
This might not explain the 5 minutes with phil series though, I'm not sure whats up with that.
