  • I thought you might like to see a little of Pahrump, Nevada - my new hometown. So in this video I take you around to my favorite boondocking spots as well as places I go for groceries and general supplies.
Pahrump makes it easy to live nomadically. When so many towns seem to resent nomads, this community doesn't seem to mind at all. There is plenty of free camping opportunities, places to take your recycles, trash and I've even found remote porta potties to dump my toilet. There are also plenty of RV parks but I don't know why you would go there......
Although I always thought Pahrump existed because it's between Las Vegas and Death Valley I discovered a bit of history of the area that I share with you in this video.
    Hope you enjoy.

The road going to that BLM land is called Basin. Pahrump is surrounded by BLM land, but that location is pretty handy. Next to the Smiths grocery fuel pumps there was a water spigot that I have seen people get water at for free. I never seen them hassled. We get a lot of RV snowbirds, so the town sees nothing especially odd about people living in vehicles. It is actually legal here to buy some land and live on it in a RV for 6 months a year. You can even build a 200 Sq' shed without a building permit. Build it out of whatever you like.
The town dump is funded from our property taxes so there is no fee to get in. There is a weigh scale, but I think they just use that for commercial accounts. It is supposed to be residence only, but I never seen them check ID or look at license plates. I personally would rather see visitors dump there than trash the desert.
I live here in Pahrump so if you have questions about the area, direct them my way and I will try to give you a good answer.

@@lebanonliftedmuzik1319 I believe that area is still pretty much undeveloped, but I do like the location for several reasons. Just East of that neighborhood is BLM land so it will not be developed. The mountains East of there is where the ground water comes from, So your well should be good. Another big plus is There will not be any rapid infiltration basins< RIB's), put in upstream of your water source. Because Pahrump does not have a river to carry away partially treated waste, They are now trying to force the waste back into the ground water.
Greed being a main human motivator, games with water rights are now being played on those wishing to sink a new well. This is where a speculator who doesn't own the water under your property can sell it to you. Call the building department to see what the new regulations and fees are.

What will happen if the population of Pahrump Nevada exceed more then 100,000 people by the year 2030? Pahrump is a large unincorporated communities, along with several large unincorporated communities with 100,000 or more people in Las Vegas and Clark County in Southern Nevada. It will never going to be incorporated cities. Enterprise with more then 300,000 people is the largest unincorporated community in Nevada, and never wanted to be incorporated city because of lack of money to afford it. They do now have LED street lights on some selected streets. Pahrump Nevada now borders California on the southwest side of community, and have two main thoroughfares and they are: NV-160 and NV-372.

Anyway, I think you get 30 days rent included in the membership, and a reduced rate thereafter. You don't need to be a member to rent. Every 9 months they make you move to a new spot in the park. I think this is to keep down outside clutter.
I knew a guy that lived in a house and bought a membership so he could use the hot tub there.

I'm just starting to get info from people. I think it's warmer in Laughlin. Do you ever go over there? PerSueTheDream my husband and I currently live in North Pole, Alaska but we are also seasonal residents of Pahrump, having bought a home there a couple of years ago. I can appreciate what pitstopsogmc said about the clanging, because it WAS a little bit of a surprise to hear all of that once you got to the dirt road, but then I chuckled and appreciated the “reality” of your video... no overdub... just life on the road as it really is for you. Cool. :-) As to not having a radio, perhaps that’s your personal choice because you prefer not to have one, or maybe the rig didn’t come with one, or its broken and getting a new one isn’t a budget priority right now.... Just in case you really DO like music, or e-books and such, I’ve got a little tip that you and your fellow travelers might appreciate. It’s called UE Boom and it’s a Blue Tooth Speaker. I usually use mine at home, but I don’t really think the speakers in my car are very good, and I don’t want to invest in replacing them, so I sometimes take my speaker with me on the road, and feed the sound from my iTunes account, or audiobooks or radio into that, and voila’! Traveling Tunes. And, if it were me, I’d keep the clanging, with or without the tunes. It’s always nice to rattle stuff a bit; stirs up stagnation and moves molecules. Motion is Lotion! Safe Travels to You! Oh, I nearly forgot... Your video was really informative. I learned some stuff about my new home town that I didn’t know already!
