Collecting Rain Water For The Garden

I don't have the ability to hook up a hose and run water down to my gardens. Last year I had a laborious way of collecting and delivering rain water to the plants between rains. Because it was so hard, the garden didn't get watered as much as it should have.
So this year I bit the bullet and installed rainwater diverters and have 300 gallons collected already. (it rains a lot here in the spring) . The reason I didn't try these last year is because I thought it would be to hard to cut the downspout and/or I would screw it up and then where would I be.

Our original 6 chicks grew into 5 hens and 1 rooster. They had 8 babies which grew into 2 hens and 6 roosters. That's too many roosters. I have been procrastinating about my rooster problem and should have handled this a month ago when the youngest 4 reached maturity. 7 roosters after 6 hens (and all desiring a shot at Dum Dum) was not working.
