Wayne Alexander (Sebastian) does such a great job. The production crew must have agreed as the actor comes back multiple times throughout the series in prosthetics makeup playing different characters. A fun game to play for the rest of the series is "spot Wayne Alexander."
It is not hard: his voice is pretty distinctive. Same with Kim Strauss or Mark Hendrickson when they speak.
The elevator scene is such a great classic...and the Inquisitor...people didn´t like this episode because of the twist...I loved it and the performance was great.
I very much like the twist, too....
I honestly NEVER heard of anyone who didn't like the twist, ever. I love this episode. EASILY top 10 for me probably top 5 even.
What people complained about was that in the initial version, East End and West End had been mixed up. They corrected that by re-dubbing for later versions.
@@ohauss Nope, a few days ago someone said the episode was one of the worst in S2 and the reveal of Jack was silly.
I actually really liked the twist at the end.
Glad to see you back
Thanks Dale! Glad to be back!!!
"Good luck to you, in your holy cause, Capt. Sheridan. May your choices have better results than mine: Remembered not as a messenger, remembered not as a reformer, not as a prophet, not as a hero, not even, as Sebastian. Remembered only... as Jack."
*tap...tap...tap...tap
This performance by Wayne Alexander is absolutely brilliant.

@@Muck006 This is what happens when you use autocorrect. (Edited.)
The Vorlons picked Sebastian because he is an expert on doing extreme things because you falsely believe you are right and everyone else is wrong.
Yes ... fanatics doing really bad things "for the greater good" have been the bane of peace since forever ...
Just look at eastern europe and how the EU and NATO/USA have pushed/BULLIED Russia ... because they are STUCK in their ways of the Cold War ... until the bullied kid started "swinging fists".
Wayne A. who played Jack, also played a wide array of aliens on B5. He has been many of the guest ambassadors and plays a key roll later that I wish not to spoil. Like Andre, I believe he is a Shakespearian.
Comes the Inquisitor: it could be ISN's own Cynthia Torqueman
I really can't wait to see your reaction to season three as all the pieces start falling into place. strap yourself in as the ride starts now.
I never got why some people didn't like this episode; to me it all made perfect sense. In essence, it took someone who honestly thought he was chosen to weed out others who are the same.
Comes the Inquisitor is one of the BEST episodes (IMO)! It get "propelled" by the strength of its guest star, but also has such great scenes elsewhere.
The G'kar/ Garabaldi scene is one of my favorites. (Garabaldi being my favorite character.)
What a great actor Wayne Alexander is, and what great lines JMS wrote for him. To make you like him, then hate him, then like him, then hate him, the like him and each time have it be believable! It’s one of my favorite performances (but there are many other greats coming up).
I don’t care how you pronounce the name, Zagreb or Zathras, I’m glad you liked him. He’s a really great character! Actually I do care how you pronounce the name, but not for the reasons you might think. 😊
One of my favorite episodes!! :D
I've thought of it as more of a mediocre episode, but that might be more to do with how I view the episodes around it than to do with the episode itself.
I think it is a great one, and takes some inspiration from another favorite show of mine, the Prisoner
@@JohnnyboiOrlin I think its saved by Sebastian's character and reveal :) the rest of the epi is unmemorable 🤣😂
@@michaelriddick7116 I don't know; the character reveal wasn't a reveal; I already knew who Sebastion was. But the episode itself was your typical sacrifice for the other episode. I think there was a similar episode in Space 1999.
Of course as I say that we get the elevator scene with G'Kar and poor ol'Vir :(
Thats a heartwrenching scene! 😭😭😭
Remembered only as Jack!
Chills every time
I really enjoyed this reaction especially watching you appreciate Sebastian knowing what he actually was.
Something that I loved about the episode was that it's a self contained 'bottle' episode but what it says about the Vorlons is surprising and worrying. They're supposed to be the good guys but they have Jack the freaking Ripper on their payroll.
Honestly, this is one of the episodes I’ve been waiting for you to see!
Welcome back, you have some epic moments coming up!
Great reaction. Maybe not a hypocrite so much as someone well-suited to recognize false "chosen ones".
We never know who we really are until we are pushed to our absoloute limits.
... BUT we also have to LOOK INTO THE MIRROR and BE HONEST WITH WHAT WE SEE ... or else we wont know it at all.
My 2nd favorite quote from B5, technically cribbed from the Bible, "No greater love hath a man than he lay down his life for his brother".
My 1st favorite quote is from this same actor as well
What is the third principle of sentient life? [basically the same thing]
I hope you post these more often. Can't wait for you to get to my favorite episodes. Most are in season 3.
Oooh! Wayne Alexander. What a beautiful piece of acting.
Yeah, this is one of my favourite episodes, certainly near the top od season 2 episoders.
"Known only as Jack" ... Yeah, it had to be him, with all the clues.
The elevator scene with Vir and G'Kar, it's just such a great piece of theatre.
JMS likes theatrical (and I mean it in the best possible way), and the scenes with Delenn and Sebastian, just two actors in the room, is spectacular.
I love this one,
Be seeing you!
28:56 there's a flub here. Bruce originally said "west". If you watch his lips you can clearly see this. The had to dub him saying "east"
Jack isnt "a hypocrite" ... he is "an expert" (in being FLAWED in the belief).
Here's a hint. The Vorlons are Droshala.
Language! There are kids reading this.
I LOVED this episode. To this day, if I find a cane or stick in my hand, I tap it as I walk to the same rhythm as Sebastian.
Glad you're hiatus is over! Been looking forward to this episode - it has so many great little moments in it.
Wayne Alexander is so good, I'd pay to listen to him read the phone book.
Sebastian was many things, but an hypocrite wasn't one of them. He was suited as an inquisitor exactly because he had the mistake of mistaking ego with a calling. If those he interrogated started behaving like he did in London, he'd know they weren't the ones needed.
He didn't think he was better than Delenn, his quest was completed when he found people that were the genuine article, who he recognized as being what he, himself, once thought he was.
He let Delenn go when he concluded that she was better than him.
Did you watch either Doctor Who or Black Mirror recently? That's both places I picked up Rasputin lately, lol. Glad to see you back. This is one of the artful inklings we get that the old ones no matter what side have no issue using the irredeemable to achieve their ends. I've spent years wondering - did Sebastian meet with their approval because he never felt he needed his deeds to be attributed to his name? Or are we hearing his regret that he never got that attribution? He very much thought he was doing the right thing. He just happened to be a vicious serial killer. I love this episode. It's dark as hell.
Jones, where are ya?
I need my weekly fix of JONES!
You need to move forward into Season 3. Frankly, the Vorlons' use of this man makes me wonder about them.
I wonder what happens to "Jack" after the events of the 4th season.
It's not clear even what happens after this episode. If his job really is done, maybe it's time for the Vorlons to 'retire' him. If they need another in 1000 years time, I'm sure they'll find a few candidates.
You are not ready for immortality. Or the season finale.
Pretty weird episode for B5, and yet it's exactly what one can expect from B5. The main part is the inquisitor, Jack the Ripper, trying to understand if Delenn and Sheridan understand their position and what they should be doing. But then the other parts, G'Kar isn't done fighting, Vir is heartbroken, and this might have been exactly the reality check he needed. G'Kar doesn't hate Vir, but he hates what he represents and who he works for. And it's pretty low budget, so you know the next episode gonna be big :)
Seems like one of those episodes designed to save the budget for a fx heavy episode.
Zathras, not Zagreb. One is in space, the other in Croatia. :)
Be sure you are pronouncing his name right. Zathras.
Are you talking about Zathrus? Or Zathrus. The way you wrote it you might even mean Zathrus.
This is for both you and the first reply, don't spoil it. That is one of those things you should learn as the rest of us did. TMI too soon guys.
@@kpdubbs7117 Zathras ... get the name right.
I did not like this episode, I dislike gratuitous cruelty. Also my wife figured out right away that Sebastian was Jack the Ripper, I didn't agree and at crow.
Crap episode, whens the next one?
