I think Clark had planned that miss on the last free throw for the team to be ready for a rebound so the ball couldn’t be advanced. The highlights miss a lot of context, especially the important part of the end. On an inbound pass Clark ran the clock by seeing Paige had her back turned so ran the clock by bouncing the ball off her back so it goes out of bounds again and Iowa keep the ball. Very smart play. Also shoutout to Nika Mühl tho she was relentless the way she put her whole soul into guarding Clark the whole night, even when Clark didn’t have the ball lol
UCONN fans kept saying "you can't call that at the end of the game" however when exactly do we stop calling fouls? A foul is a foul regardless. That was the stupid controversy after the game.
the problem with this game was the fouls being called unfairly the entire game towards uconn especially when they do not have enough players on the bench to put in when half the starters are in foul trouble.

This game was super frustrating especially in the first half and the highlights don’t show that. The whole night they didn’t let Caitlin breathe, she had to work super hard to do anything. she was face guarded intensely full court the whole night… their defence on her was intense. They didn’t want the ball in her hands and tried to make it very hard for her to see or do much. And without her Iowa struggles to find rhythm… The whole game was messy neither teams were shooting well and both teams were constantly turning over the ball. It was super chaotic
It's rewarding to watch you discovering the players one after another - first it was Hannah, then Gabbie, now Southside Sydney Affolter. When you look at earlier games you'll like Molly Davis, who was cruelly prevented from taking part in the post season games by an injury - Coach Bluder brought her on for the last few seconds of the Championship game this year. Then there's Kylie Feuerbach - she didn't get a lot of minutes, but she made them tell. Then Addie O'Grady... Iowa had a really good team. ;
For anyone who thought the illegal screen wasn't a foul and/or shouldn't have been called at that time: 1. It was clearly a foul - both a moving screen plus extending arm into defender, both no no's 2. If it's a foul earlier in the game, it's a foul then. When it's a clear foul like this, it's a weak-ass argument to say 'let the players decide the game' and for the refs to have blinders on. Also, try to have some empathy: if Iowa loses this game as a result of an egregious no-call on that play, they actually would'e been robbed by the refs - does that not matter to people? UConn was not robbed the refs here. 3. Notice Geno after the foul call doesn't argue it at all, and in the postgame presser he doesn't say one word about it being a bad/wrong call; instead, he claimed that both teams set some illegal screens and that Iowa wasn't called on theirs, which is false 4. That wasn't the 1st time UConn got called for a similar illegal screen in the game; so that's their own damn fault for trying to get away with one again, at that moment - so instead of blaming the refs calling it in crunchtime, blame Geno and Edwards for still trying such a screen at that moment, especially when it's so blatantly illegal 5. One month later in the NBA playoffs, the Pacers got called for an illegal screen vs the Knicks that was nowhere near as blatant as Edwards' screen (Turner was still shuffling one foot, but not as far as Edwards did, nor did he stick an elbow out and lean towards the defender like Edwards did), also at the end of the game down by 1, yet there wasn't the misplaced national outrage that there was for UConn. The Pacers unsuccessfully challenged, as the call was upheld, and then the NBA triple-downed on it in their last 2 minute report after the game, confirming that it was the correct call. That one was at least close, but still an illegal screen is an illegal screen. If you compare that one to Edwards' screen, UConn fans really have absolutely no room to talk.

Also, as a former Iowa defensive specialist said, Edwards had one foot in California and the other in New York. Her feet were WAY out of her frame.
