However I can say this video is unique in that I boosted the bass a bit.. ;)
Also instead of just downloading this from RUclips, I used the original bootleg and video, just for the sake of quality.

The danish audience, by being so quiet, has done us a monstrous favor. A live album without screaming or cheering fans interrupting the bands sounds
These days people bitch about audience not being loud enough. Like do you watch a band for their music or the sound of the audience? Simpletons...

Jimmy Page: pulls out a bow
The audience: idk wtf he doing, but i like that
John Paul Jones is an underrated Bassist and Keyboardist who is the glue that holds the Zep machine together. His steady, inventive bass fills and runs dominate his contribution with the band. Here is proof of his brilliance during this 1969 performance. Twenty-three years old and wise beyond his bass playing years. If Jimmy Page is the brains of Zeppelin, Plant the heart, Bonzo the muscle...Jonesy would have to be the blood. Enriching, pulsating and constant. Quiet but always present. A gentle breeze blowing through the trees or a hurricane that has reached the shore.
very true, did you ever notice on TSRTS misty mountain hop he plays the bass line with his feet?
The best.
You got that right!
So nicely put, happy birthday Jonesy
He's nowhere close to underrated. Everyone knows how good he is.
This is, unequivocally, the greatest television footage ever "saved". Zep wasn't huge in March 1969, this could have been taped over, erased, or lost, and what is arguably one of the best live performances ever, by the greatest band ever would have been lost. I see something like this and I want to find and give a medal to the line of Danish tv executives who ensured this was preserved. I also lament at all that we have lost of Zep and other bands over the years.
I agree 100%. Led Zeppelin starts their set with the most magnetic version of Communication Breakdown I've ever heard. How could those kids just sit there without their heads exploding?????
This is the month and year I was born!❤❤❤❤
No. They were playing here as "The New Yardbirds," that's why they're playing on TV at such early period of their careers: Page and JPJ were well known among session musicians but not famous to the general audience yet and Band of Joy, Plant and Bonham's previous band, was never famous.
The Yardbirds, however, were a big name at the time and that's one of the reasons why this footage was preserved. Plus, Danish/German networks did preserved their archives, unlike BBC.
It's quite preposterous that you think Led was already big in 1968...
@@redacted2275 Oh that is great information.

JPJ's bass line in Communication Breakdown is absolutely amazing .
At one point it just becomes psychedelic!!! Amazing!
And 4 years later, Dazed and Confused would be played at Madison Square Garden for almost as long as this concert was and no one would complain.
Dazed and Confused was really good when Page played it in the Yardbirds as well. There are several really hot versions floating around. Train Kept A Rollin' was another Page/Yardbirds live standard that was transferred over to Zeppelin shows. The Aerosmith cover was a cover of the Zep version, not the original blues standard, because two of them saw early Zep before forming the band.
yeah Madison Square Garden 1973 was the greatest rock and roll concert ever
I prefer this version.
It’s gotten as long as 45 minutes in LA in 1975ish

One of the greatest guitarists, drummers, bassists and vocalists of all time. Talk about catching lightning in a bottle.
Awesome
nevermind lightning in a bottle. the story behind how they got together and their paths meeting is even more astonishing. Led Zeppelin is to life, what life is to the universe.
They did a poll sometime ago to put together a hypothetical greatest band of all time, choosing the greatest singer, guitarist, bassist, and drummer from the pool of all musicians across all genres. Result? Singer: Robert Plant, Guitarist: Jimmy Page, Bassist: John Paul Jones, Drummer: John Bonham. Hmmm
eh, from THAT TIME & PLACE ? ...best "rock" singer, MAYBE (RP wore girl shirts and sang about his junk A WHOLE LOTTA too much)! But let's see: w/o a doubt RORY GALLAGHER, JEFF BECK or JIMI HENDRIX are "better" on guitar. And nothing against JPJ or Bonzo, but JACK BRUCE and GINGER BAKER are hands down better musicians, Ginger is a COMPLETE MUSICIAN, composer, arranger and one of the best drummers EVER (ask drummers...and also BRUFORD & SQUIRE crushed)! You see, it's all in the chemistry for Zep, LIGHTNIN' IN A BOTTLE as noted above and MIND/BODY/HEART/SOUL in analogy below. Love Zep for blues/rock + bombast, but now were into TASTE (another great band!), and as far as THAT goes, music finds WHOLE 'NUTHA LEVELS with: Zappa, Yes, Beefheart, Roland Kirk, King Crimson, Tull, Genesis ...all of whom were making WAY more interesting music. What's truly amazing is ALL THE TALENTED musicians that those tiny British Isles produced --> Ian Paice, Fripp, Phil Collins, Clapton, Winwood, Entwhistle, Blackmore, John Wetton, David Cross, Ian Anderson, the Beatles, KMoon, Steve Howe, Rick Wakemen, all of ELP (talk about drummers!) ...to name only a few! Just sayin'.
@@gnesteck3276 Please point me to the youtube videos (or cd's) where Jeff Beck and Rory Gallagher are better than Page is here (and IMO this isn't Page's best). I'm actually serious. The hottest band ever. The four unmatchable, each one the best in his craft ❤.
Such polite Danish teens.
Plant was so confident
JP Jones was calm an in the moment
Jimmy the Wizard was mixing his new crazy brews up.
John Bonham was an animal but he could take it down to just lightly tap the cymbals so expertly.
What really cracks me up is when Plant introduces "Led Zepplin" to the luckiest kids in that time in musical history. UNBELIEVABLE !
So true! They had nooo idea how lucky they were!
I agree wholeheartedly!! Jimmy looks still shy here...hiding behind his hair lol...they AMAZED everyone!
Plant was only 21 in this video! Crazy how young they all were. Jimmy was the old man at 25.
Danish?
@@johannsebastianbach108 yeah it's in Denmark /Danish television and local teens as audience.
it's sad to get old and slowly lose your gifts, but to be immortal on the internet...that's not a bad consolation. somewhere, you're a god forever.
This video is such a gem!! Such an intimate performance. It makes you feel like you are there watching them in person. No effects. No gimmicks. No silly antics. Just the best rock & roll band that has ever existed. Bonham was already a beast on drums at 20 years old! One of the very, very few videos where you can see him play up close, facial expressions, fast drum rolls, and powerful amazing chops!!
The energy, passion, and presence he brings to Zeppelin is unmatched! Check him out at the 10:10 mark! As gifted as he was, he would play within the songs and not overplay or show off. A true rare gifted talent. My personal inspiration on drums.
He played on a 4-piece set here but makes it sound like an 8 piece set. Monstrous! The whole band is so tight and extremely talented and gifted. All the stars aligned for these 4 musical Gods to come together as one band and bring beautiful amazing music that will last forever and ever. Long live Zeppelin!!
It was the most unbelievable mix of the best musicians...God gave us a gift!
this is pure genius, the sound of that telecaster on Jimmy's hand is so unique...
This video is a true treasure for Zeppelin fans. Thank goodness somebody saved and preserved it.. I can’t believe it’s 50 years old...
I still can hardly believe that WE'RE 50+ years old!
WHEN are they going to figure out that time machine thing??
@@magianas
The ability to watch this video is the time machine!
@@Adam-ed6vm You are so right...! So bitchin to be a child from the 70's & 80's!!
(NOT at all bitchin to watch it slip away from our kids... )
They saved it it’s on their dvd set there’s a lot of gold on there
It still feels so fresh because this video captures them when they were still young, fresh, and hungry. They were connected to the streets and had something to prove in 1969. That's when the best music gets made.
Those people are so lucky, a year later you would never be able to get that close to them! They are incredibly luck to be alive at that exact moment in history.
@Cero Z we don't worship you.
@Cero Z White people?? WTF? why are you even here, you fucking racist?
Luck had little to do with the small group concert format. This concert format was for a TV show(the reason we have it to watch now), and was common in the 60's even with big stars. These guys already had an album in the top 10 in both the UK and US. They were big already.
Cero Z Wtf is your problem? I’m black and I love them too.
@Cero Z you're not an American or European if you dont understand the influence and greatness of Zeppelin...but you probably like kanye west, drake, and a bunch of other forever forgotten rappers lol
This is when live bands sounded amazing... No gimmicks, just raw talent
1972. Had a set of Ludwigs and a giant stereo. I would play Zeppelin 1 over and over, trying to learn Bonham's licks. I was 16. Loved it then, still do at 68.
OK class put your text books in your desk we have some band from England coming to play today.
MrMikeinDevon - Wish that were me.
damn
Alycia Goode They were enjoying it
LoL... I love how they all quietly filed into the room like they were coming back from a fire drill and had no idea what they were coming for.
What an experience!
God, I can’t even count how many times I have come back to this performance. Every time my soul feels empty, I come here for a refill. If this isn’t the best era of music ever to touch this earth, i don’t know anything about anything. God save my soul otherwise.
I believe the years 68 - 75 were the pinnacle of rock. After that the commercialization really took a hold, more so than before.
It’s the first video I goto when I want hear raw Led Zeppelin
Early 19th Century classical piano composers... Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Schubert, Schumann. The first 3 must have been mind-blowing at the time! You're not wrong when it comes to rock/popular music though... equally as innovative and mind-blowing!
Exactly!
😊😊🔥🔥❤️☮️
Plants voice is just extraordinary at this point in his life. It's amazing how much it changed over the next several years, and not for the worse, just different.
Let’s be honest it wasn’t for the best 😂 I agree though I love their later albums just as much. Coda and Presence are severely underrated
리드기타,리드보컬,베이스,드럼 이 네가지만으로 만들어내는 감동.. 이것이 진정한 락이다..
Setlist of one of the best concerts ever
0:11 communitcation breakdown
2:58 dazed and confused
12:12 babe I’m gonna leave you
19:01 how many more times
When Jimmy busted out the bow, minds were blown, and jaws were dropped.
Robert Plant! His vocal range is outstanding. Amazingly legendary voice… I LOVE Led Zeppelin for ever
It's astounding to me that there are 1,100 people out there who downvoted this.
If I had been there I would seriously have developed depression at some point afterwards after having realized that my life would all be downhill from there... *nothing* can compare to an experience like that. This performance is so intimate with the venue being so small and the boys not having hit major, Starship-level success yet. Priceless!!
Your right there dude I remember led Zeppelin in 69 I was 7 still love them 57 this year
@@davidwozencroft7488 I turned 57 this year and Zeppelin has always been my favourite band...I bought a ticket to see them in Detroit in October of 1980..I was devastated when the news broke...best band ever..
Nothing in the world beats this performance. It's insane.
My favorite part of the 60s live performances is when audience is completely silent and band be like: "you guys aren't ready for this yet, but your kids are gonna love it"
Just calculated that Robert Plant was 20 when this was recorded.
Holy F. Amazing. They're all so young, but the incredible talent of each is already evident.
20 year old Robert Plant got everything every rock vocalists needs here...
Watching Bonham pounding his drum set sent shivers down my spine.
Body's aching all the time😂
I know I am in the wrong video but I love led Zeppelin 😂
This is rock-n-roll genius at its best. Long live Led Zeppelin.
19:04 most epic intro of all times
