    Having seen the new trailer, I can kind of respect why - but not necessarily how - Mohg wants to create a new dynasty. His entire Omen race has not only been shafted to a life in the sewers, but also skewered and roasted by Messmer. I'd want to push back against that too.
    It opens up even more questions regarding the Sewer Mohg...was he there to investigate the power of the frenzied flame or guard people from it?

      I suggest that the Mohg phantom, like that Margit phantom and Godfrey phantom, also the seal that blocks way to the mountains/Miquella and the seal that blocks passage into Deeproot Depths from Leyndell, are all controlled by Morgott. He inherited Marika’s illusory skills and is duty bound to guard the secrets of his mother’s plans. Which his brothers and Miquella are intimately involved.
      Which includes omen, crucible, blending of life, grafting, deathblight… etc

    "The Formless Mother craves wounds." Formless. Mother. It is a synonym for the Crucible. What do we see in the dlc story trailer? Marika standing amongst bloody remains which are given FORM, the form of a tree. Thus, Formless Mother births new ages, like clay that can be formed into a vessel, then melted down and reborn/formed into something else. The Formless Mother is Life bled unto Quintessence, then reforged anew.
    Rykard and Mohg are both doing the same thing, as does the Scarlet Rot, though Malenia refuses to accept it. Rykard wants to "devourthe world" so the Amnion of a new age may be born. Hence, the Snake men.

    GRRM loves to play with the concept of seasons. I think the GEQ was an entity (or perhaps an inheritable title) that was okay with the cycle of Life and Death, of summer and winter, of spring and fall. This cycle seems interrupted and intentionally paused in a summer of plenty. When the "Summer of Plenty" came to an end with the loss of sap production while the GEQ in charge.. We would get a Godskin Hunt to harvest the runes/blood/grace to start a new tree. Fall (Loss of Grace/Plenty) -> Winter (Death) -> Spring (Birth of a New Tree) -> Summer (Life Thrives)... repeat.
    Radagon is the OG. He seduced the GEQ, and together they had Messmer. Radagon betrayed the GEQ by not following in her path and killing everyone, harvesting everything, pouring it into a single tree, removing the rune of death, and freezing the world in a summer of plenty that can never end but also will be incapable of supporting everyone forever. He usurped the natural order because he thought he knew better. He did not, death is a tool for evolution. Removing it stagnates the world, and starves the world of it's grace. Grace cannot be created without birth and death, only harvested.
    Sidenote: I believe In the trailer we see Radagon turning into Marika for the first time. We see a very masculine form with red hair tinted gold by the lighting. He had to do this in order to become the God of his/her new age. He did not want to become Elden Lord. This helps to explain some of the split personality issues surrounding the destruction of the Elden Ring. Radagon always wanted the Golden Order, while Marika having seen the inevitable conclusion of the Golden Order wanted to tear it all down.

    • @TheSurprisePig
      @TheSurprisePig 5 месяцев назад +4

      I don’t think the form is too masculine tbh, I know that was vaati’s perspective but the Marika we see at crucified at the end of the game is likewise lean and sinewy and the red tint could just as well be attributed to the lighting of the scene (surrounded by viscera). I think the rest of what you’re saying is very compelling though.

    I like this theory the most because we get some ashes of ancient heroes like Christoph or Engall. For if they were truly the heroes who were given Erdtree Burial their souls should long be absorbed by the Erdtree and we should never be able to obtain them. The deathroot interrupted this absorption process thus the souls were left behind, and the Erdtree stopped producing sap. It's a very solid conclusion.

    The other definition of a crucible is this:
    a situation of severe trial, or in which different elements interact, leading to the creation of something new.
    "their relationship was forged in the crucible of war"
    In Elden Ring, the crucible is a real thing, but it also embodies this concept of competition, mixture, and adaptation.

    I can't remember which content creator said it, but they were talking about the bodiless quality that all the characters that have a sealed eye seem to be. With Miyazaki saying that the body in the cocoon is related to Miquella and Miquella goes to the shadow realm for whatever goal he has. Would it be so crazy to think that the body would be Messmer? The body in the cocoon looks nothing like the still of Miquella and Mogh in the beginning of the game, the proportions of the body would definitely seem more of a Messmer build, and the ring was shown by Zullie or SekiroDubi to look like snakes twisting over each other. IDK, but just think about it ya know!

    This is surprisingly solid. I am beginning to believe that the Haligtree is actually a tool to let Miquella be freed from his flesh - He buried himself into the Haligtree, and his body and soul would be absorbed by this "New Erdtree" if nothing happened. But Malenia's rot killed the tree before the full absorption by Miquella's calculation, then his soul was freed from the Haligtree. Also, Mohg took away his flesh before its fully absorbed too. Is this also a part of his plan? If so, he is truly a master of schemes and fearsome as Malenia said.

  • @EmraHemingway
    @EmraHemingway 5 месяцев назад +2

    Okay Jack! I don’t think I’ve commented this theory of mine on your channel yet, but this is how I think the Crucible works.
    Maybe this is common sense, but I believe that the mechanic of “Remembrances” may relate very closely to the nature of the Crucible with the Erdtree and its predecessor. The reason creatures are able to blend in this melting pot of life through the Crucible is through the power of the Erdtree; that is, the tree stores the lives and “memories” of those buried near it in the form of aspects. The Crucible Knights can pull the different aspects of great beasts from the Erdtree that we don’t see in the Lands Between today, because of how all life once connected to the tree. I believe we may see these great beasts in the DLC’s Shadowlands.
    The Golden Order Erdtree does a similar thing with its Remembrances, and the player Tarnished can turn those Remembrances into aspects of those bosses. I think the key difference is that the current Erdtree, with its order, cannot allow life to change and blend through it. Because of this, players can only acquire aspects in the form of codified knowledge or a physical item, and cannot, say, grow a muscular Godfrey arm. Thinking on GOF, if all things are connected in a chain of relation, and all things yearn eternally to converge, that would make those rules constants since at least the first great tree, and possibly earlier!
    Thank you for reading my theory. If you disagree with it, tell me what you think! If you have anything to add, talk to me as well! Have a great day everyone!
    tl;dr: All life is connected together by the primordial Erdtree; The tree holds the life and memories of life of all deceased creatures, and so other creatures pull from and blend into those memories through birth or faith.

    • @JackisaMimic
      @JackisaMimic  5 месяцев назад +1

      What is also interesting about Remembrances is that they are of the last moments of that person before they are felled. We receive the Remembrance of Horah Loux and not Godfrey, we receive the Remembrance of the Goddess of Rot and not the Blade of Miquella
      It goes to show how exactly hewning "Remembrances", or consciousness, or souls, or spirits, into the Erdtree works. It is truly their last moments before they are consumed.
      What is interesting though is why do we gain the Remembrance that is supposedly hewn into the Erdtree? Is it gameplay, or is it something else?

    • @EmraHemingway
      @EmraHemingway 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@JackisaMimic A provoking thought! … After much consideration through writing I now have another new theory! 👏🏻✌🏻
      Maybe that this is part of how the Crucible, in all its conflict-driven glory, originally worked. Perhaps all life under the purview of the Erdtree is already hewn into the tree, at least partially.
      As one defeats creatures they gain their runes, and when a creature with a significant amount of runes (one comparable to a champion) is defeated by us, that life is then completely hewn into the wood of the Erdtree as a remembrance of that champion.
      To answer your question, I believe we gain them because that is the original design of the Erdtree; for creatures to take strength by combat, as much of the life in the history of the Lands Between did before us.
      To spin something else… The Two Fingers all seem to be made of wood! Perhaps the Finger Readers read not just the motions of the Fingers but the lines of their wood, just as a fortune teller reads the lines in our palms. When the Tarnished touches the Two Fingers for the first time, they gain the ability to perform “The Ring” gesture. Trees have rings. An accomplished & especially wizened Finger Reader like Enia could possibly read the “ancient rings’ of the tree in her mind or the wooden Fingers before her, and therefore touch a primordial trait of the Erdtree, granting the Tarnished an aspect of the remembrance when they could only otherwise attain runes from it.

    Hear me out do you think Miqualla whilst feeding the Haligtree his blood communed with the formless mother. The reason the thought came to me is because we see his eyes being covered which is typically a precursor to communion with an outergod and he realized the haligtree would fail after speaking with her. So he sends melania to kill radahn to free the stars and has mohg defile his body in such a way that he can divest himself of his golden lineage. And the formless mother agrees to becon mohg because miquella with his divine allure was able to convince her that he would be able to give her more blood than mohg. Which is why all of his attempts to establish a dynasty failed. I know this is crazy speculation but the way you mentioned miquella “bloodletting” gave me the thought

    • @JackisaMimic

      I think that everything Miquella has done was to set the world the way it is when our Tarnished arrives. Malenia wasn’t sent to kill Radahn, but to rot his mind and lock the stars in place. Only his death can set them in motion, and only we can kill him

This plus Omenkillers are textbook George Martin, he loves to highlight the more grim and esoteric aspects of ancient society like rampant infanticide (Omenkillers).

    Very interesting theory. It holds a lot of weight.
    In particular, the blood, and how Miquella needs blood from the mighty warriors who died in the Shattering, Radahn's blood as Strongest Demigod mixed with the Aeonia from Malenia's rot, and finally, Mogh's cursed blood, fed to Miquella directly and spilled as a sacrifice.
    All poured over Miquella's cocoon, feeding and watering him like a tree waiting to grow.
    Gideon was right about one thing: it would be best if Miquella did not wake up. Who knows what kind of powerful deity would rise from all those powers mixed together, and then all the negative aspects shed off, because Miquella can deny the influence of outsiders, keeping him pure.
    Why does he need all that blood? Because Gods do not bleed themselves.
    Miquella used his own blood previously, but now as the sleeping god, he has none to give.

    I'd note that only Mohg and Morgott use bloodflame, and Mohg doesn't even use the muddy wraith flame that is iconic to the Omen. So I suspect the Formless Mother was drawn to the Omen twins because they were demigods, not because they were Omen. Not unlike Malenia and the Scarlet Rot.

    10:16 Martin might have not written any Erdtree lore though. Or perhaps he didn't write the centrality of the Erdtree (in the Golden Order)? It's hard to know what Miyazaki meant regarding this. Maybe there was a massive tree, but the "gold motif" and such properties had nothing to do with it, so Martin knew the idea but none of the aesthetics that took shape in the game. In all likelihood we will never know. Still, this feels more like Miyazaki looping lore elements on themselves due to Martin's involvement. Frankly, I can imagine him doing that and giggling to himself about it. It might also be the case that Fromsoft is very much proud of ER's aesthetics and wants to separate them from the foundational lore which was birthed elsewhere, hence Miyazaki's half-baked distinction. I wouldn't blame them as artists, the game is fantastically beautiful and everyone involved should be proud of it, or at least very much satisfied. I do not believe this matters much for the comparisons/parallels in question though. They stand on their own.
    That aside, it never occurred to me, nor do I recall ever seeing it mentioned until now, how peculiar it is that we don't grab deathroot like a rotten apple hanging from an infected part of the roots, right after a boss is dealt with. It's always inside a chest like common loot, left by some otherwise untainted roots, as you point out. Ah... that is indeed curious.
    We indeed have another flair to Miq's "watering" of his tree now, courtesy of the perplexing first scene in the story trailer. As it makes it that much more likely that there was a massive sacrifice at the incipience of the Erdtree, and it was this, and not the would-be perfect system of holistic recycling, that granted it its power and status. "Die a hero and you can join this most sacred tree by appointed burial!" The propaganda practically writes itself. After all, who opposes a radiant, life-giving world tree? Yet everyone did. As strong as Miq was, he's not stronger than a masse of fertilizing bodies, maybe a mountain of them - quantity of over quality. And "failed to grow into an Erdtree" is also a curious way of putting it, as if there's a way of growing these things by blood ministration - youthful, godly, noble, cursed, all of those... or otherwise.

    Jack again justifying his channel's spot in my toppest tier of ER Lore. I've been waiting for more speculation on the relationship between axes and trees in the story because it seems so deliberate, and its been bugging me like crazy.
    The Crucible knights having "Axe Armor" but carrying swords, is just wild to me. And it could be said that they wear that in reverence of Godfrey, but then why does the Tree Armor exist? So the game is definitely trying to lead us somewhere with that.
    I'll have to take note where we find each type of C.knight from now on.
    Here's some random speculation i have only thought about for about 3 minutes.
    Whyyyyy does Morgott's body stick around when Mogh's does not? This video is the first time I've actually sat and watched Morgott's model die, particlize, and change into the husk we're able speak to. Mogh, i just beat again last night, and he just turns to dust, no corpse. The model in the egg looks just like Morgott, TWIN OF MOGH. The Mogh we fight just coagulates out of blood anyway, so i dont think we have to take for granted that THAT is his real, full body anyway. (It seems his soul was certainly in it at least tho).
    I def think there are a lot of issues with the idea that Mogh is actually the one in the cocoon. But the reason this bug has just entered my brain is that FromSoft has taken considerable effort to do things like specifically crafting the faces of NPCs that we will never see in game. This specifically is either for practice and testing of the character creator, or its because they know that their nuts fans are going to go in and look at things like this. I'd say that looking in on the body in the egg is around the same tier as investigating unseen NPC faces, and its just weird to me that they would drop that specific model, here near this particular boss, instead of making a generic one, or one that looked like Miquella or anything else, they could have filled the egg with a blood texture and just modeled the arm.
    Okay enough, whew. Thank you for the videos as always, praise the Sunrealm 😅

    I'm starting to suspect that the Formless Mother will be greatly expanded upon in the DLC. Too many themes were covered in the trailers. Motherhood. Truth. Fire. Blood.
    And I really hope we're not headed for another Aldrich, Devourer of Gods situation, but with blood instead of decay.

    Imma keep repeating this. The formless mother is godwyns real mother and the rune marika pulled out was a lock of godwyns golden hair. Even before the erdtree godwyn was connected to death. Im calling it 😎

    Yet another great video.
    But for your next one, will you touch on how Vyke can have 2 great runes? (And the other tarnished) Like who did he kill to get them and where did they go?
    The game treats it like it’s not a big deal someone else have been collecting great Runes.
    I’ve always thought his relationship with lansseax was weird. Like he’s just a tarnished, and lansseax deffinitly don’t fuck with us (our tarnished). Godwyn could’ve had a great rune aswell, maybe vyke or someone else took it. And why are there 2 Vykes and why was he at the frenzied villige if he got touched in the capitol? I think I’m asking for a Vyke video instead with this comment… he just makes my head hurt when I think about him. AND he’s the poster boy he gotta be important.

      I can just explain that here
      There are two Roundtable Holds: the Fortified Manor and the Table of Lost Grace
      When it comes to looking at the Tarnished, and those who were at the Roundtable Hold we have to deduce which Roundtable Hold
      The requirement for needing two Great Runes is giving to us at the Table of Lost Grace, which exists in some ethereal form. Having two Great Runes gives us access to Leyndell
      The Fortified Manor is already in Leyndell, thus if Vyke was a member of that Roundtable Hold he wouldn’t need any Great Runes.
      The point is that the Great Rune criteria seems to only be relevant for those part of the Table of Lost Grace, and the mysteries there in
      Why didn’t Vyke need Great Runes, but our Tarnished does?
      Well, I think it’s all part of the plan 😉

      @@JackisaMimic So is he a tarnished from the godfrey era, before the long march and the shattering? Maybe even the sunrealm?

    • @JackisaMimic
      @JackisaMimic  5 месяцев назад

      Most likely a Tarnished who was present during the Shattering War
      After the Elden Ring is Shattered is when the Tarnished begin returning to the Lands Between, so there is this period of many characters and people doing various things before our arrival to the world
      So whatever Vyke, and many of the other Tarnished, did occurred after the Elden Ring is Shattered but before our arrival.
      It makes it much easier to understand these characters when you place them in a defined place on the timeline like this, and based on the criteria for returning Tarnished, we can deduce that this is that period

      Marika shatters; Radagon Repairs. Separately this looks like they are in opposition with each other, but remember, Radagon is Marika.
      The act of destroying and repairing is known as Reforging. Marika remade the world.

      Perhaps unalloyed gold is the creation of Gold and Grace without the need of excluding or removing the red. It was created as pure gold, and not created from the subtraction of something else
      Does that make sense?

      @@JackisaMimic Took me a minute but I think so? Of course, like the Haligtree. Miquella abandoned fundamentalism, divested himself of fate and all things golden.
      So many rabbit holes. Maybe unrelated but I'm also reminded of the colorless eclipse. And colors themselves seemingly having attributes, like red with vigor, blue with a calm or intelligence.
