If you are referring to the Stephen Colbert interview from 2022 Martin says, “I wrote, you know, a history of what happened 5000 years before the current game and who all the characters were, who was killing each other, and what powers they had.” So he wrote: -Ancient Dynasty to up until the Tarnished Arrives in the Lands Between -Who all of the characters are -Their motivations and stories (“who was killing each other”) -What powers they had (Miquella being able to bewitch people, ect.) It’s a lot of stuff. I recommend reading Martin’s work if the goal is to know “everything” about Elden Ring.

I don't think you watched the video. The Screenrant Article was only for how GRRM had an influence on D&D with the naming of the Githyanki. All of my sources are in the description, they are interviews with Miyazaki directly and come from: the Newyorker, IGN, Game Informer, and the official guide books. In the guide book interview Miyazaki says their level design begin with the lore that Martin wrote and specifically references Radahn and Malenia fighting in Caelid. HP Lovecraft is an influence on both Miyazaki and Martin, Eldritch and inhuman horror is something they both work with. One of Miyazaki's favorite books is GRRM's Fevre Dream, he used to recommend new employees read it. The true final boss of Bloodborne takes inspiration to the antagonist of Fevre Dream. If you are interested in the works that inspire Miyazaki, you should read GRRM. You should read Lovecraft too, At the Mountains of Madness is probably his best. I don't understand where this animosity comes from, GRRM wrote the lore, Miyazaki has said so multiple times. You're not disagreeing with me, you are disagreeing with Miyazaki's own words.

One of Miyazaki’s favourite book is GRRM’s Fevre Dream while his MOST FAVOURITE work is Berserk by Miura Kentaro which is evident by his direction of Demon Souls, Dark Souls I,II,III,Bloodborne AND now, Elden Ring which all take direct designs from the manga panels literally 1:1 in many many cases. If you are interested in the work that inspired Miyazaki the MOST, then YOU should read Miura Kentaros Berserk, not GRRM 🤣 no animosity, just laughing at your clown take

Regardless of what you think about IGN or GameInformer these are interviews with Miyazaki, they are his words. These aren’t “clown takes” it’s literally the words directly from the creator of Elden Ring. I have read Berserk. I own all 14 leather bound deluxe editions and have a tattoo of the Dragonslayer on my arm. It’s my favorite piece of art ever created and is incredibly meaningful to me. If Berserk means something to you too then you should try A Song of Ice and Fire, many of the same themes and motifs from Berserk are present in Martin’s writing as well.

I think that is a fantastic interpretation of the name Marika. If I recall correctly, the internal name for the Leonine Misbegotten is “RadagonChimera”, and Radagon is Marika after all.

I agree. After sitting on this for a few months I think I have it backward, the give away should have been that he has flame lighting. So that just means there must be a mimic dragon somewhere else 😜

@@JackisaMimic i personally think nox are more ancients than assumed, i think they where around from the age of dragons and giants . they tried to overthrow the Greater Will at the time, dragons where that age's lord. Nox tried creating a lord with dragon mimic , then usher the age of stars , one of them was a god to deagons under Greater will influence (Gloam Eyed Queen) , but she created godskins against GW and killed other demigods , but marika betrayed her people and overthrow the GEQ under greater will's orders and destroyed the nox as whole . she throw hornsent in the mix for personal revenge.

Yeah more or less I agree, the story is essentially two factions (The Greater Will vs the Nox/Numen/Shaman super group) playing chess against each other over the scale of all of history. Move, countermove, move, countermove - then you have each little microcosm story in there: Sun Realm, Hornsent, Shattering, Ancient Dynasty, ect… This framing helps tie in the cosmic story with the historical and human stories I think. And it’s taking me forever to write that video haha
