Her voice sounds like an Angel's really. She easily beats the other group performing the same song. She has that feeling and depth the boys simply lack.
Not commenting on who did it better, but personally I prefer the British Invasion style to the traditional Broadway strings, horns, vocal embellishments and such. So I like the Merseybeats version more.
Don't be too hard on the Merseybeats, folks. Dusty would have blown just about anyone off the stage, she was that good. Only pity of this clip is that they couldn't get both versions sung in the same key.

Dusty's version has more soul but both versions are good-The Merseybeats covered several Bacharach David songs and had some success with them and they recalled yrs later that they met Burt on a tour and although he was pleased with their choices he didn't really think Wishin and hopin was suitable for them
Dusty Springfield was so cute. And she has the most delightful dance moves.
Absolutely!
Her version remains one better, even if also dionne warwick sang it well
Ditto,gazalba
Pure 1960s Oh if only I could return to the 1960s Id go in a heart beat
Me Too !
For me they were the Mersey sound and remained loyal to Liverpool - seen them live 3 times and they were brilliant
Fantastic to see The Merseybeats on the Dusty Springfield Show. Both had big hits with this song.
Thats right both had hit . i notice JOHN LEFT AS KINKSLY CAME BACK.
Perfect combination of Dusty and Merseybeats

Dusty looked adorably cute here, and each time she comes in to sing, the whole studio brights up!
A CLASSIC.
