A large trading loss can be devastating - not only financially, but emotionally
As defeating as losses feel, how we react to loss that is more important than the loss itself. Inexperienced traders suffering a large loss can become hijacked by their emotions. Some may try to trade through the pain, denying it, often creating more turmoil for themselves. Some may withdraw, sweeping the loss under the rug to avoid thinking about it.
None of these reactions is constructive. In fact, they can be destructive if you don’t learn how to handle losing trades. Subsequent trading decisions are fraught with emotions that can drive erratic behavior.
One major difference between successful traders and failed ones is how they handle trading losses. Successful traders treat losses as an opportunity to learn and improve their trading.
Here are seven steps successful traders take after a loss to become emotionally stronger and more disciplined:
Accept responsibility: You made the loss; be sure to own it. Don’t brush it aside, hide from it, or blame the “smart money” for your loss. When you take ownership, you control your trading - and that’s exactly where you want to be.
Assess what happened by reviewing events carefully. Think about where you fell short. For example, did you take too much risk? Was the trade well-planned? Were you mentally sharp, or did you hold a losing trade hoping to avoid a loss?
Have a plan: Make a detailed action plan for future trades. The ingredients of your plan should include things you will do differently (e.g., setting and honoring a stop) and also what you will no longer do (e.g., holding a loser, hoping it will return to break-even).
Make a better plan: Can you identify factors from this trade that could be used to reverse the trade position? Good traders will take the loss as a stop-out and wait for the next opportunity.

Really brings back the bad memories of not having a sl and way to big lotsizes
I'm on my first month of live day trading, It is so stressful! I'm breaking even every week. Hopefully I would get in the green in the future. May your trades be ever in your favor
those loses rally hurts, mentally , now a days if I have consecutive loses I just stop and play video games, if I continue to trade with in that day, I'll just make bad decisions.
The trick I learned is know not when to trade, but know when not to trade.
one of my biggest mistake it when I was able to grow my account I became over confident and went to a bigger lot size.
I was up 15 % in this month, had a bad week and i am down to 5 % (it was lost worse than it sounds) i literally lost every trade i placed. But at the end of the day, I always remind myself how better I am than the people who vape, go to parties and dont exercise. Anything that you do for your self, even if it does not seem like working out right now, is good in the long run. Thanks for this video.

Hey Arty, this is so true.. We will face losses/fear that is so bad that wants to make us quit. Mine was $5000 loss; I managed to flip $500 account into $5000 in 3 days. It makes me overconfident, and make me lose those profit within 3 weeks. After that my mental state is very bad, fear overruled all my trading decisions. Need to recover another weekends to get all my fear/mental straight.

Exactly, im jobless at any point im in desperade chasing for cashflow, its a big pressure and stress in trading. This is exactly my biggest problem. So i start working to cover my monthly comitment. I had to learn trade without lappy, because i cant afford to buy 1. But i hope i can cope with everything soon.. and believe it or not i start with 70usd and building up my account to 1k usd ..😢

Great video, been winning recently but took a loss yesterday stopped me out by 1.5 pip haha we have to accept that trading is just probability game and just sticking to your plan and fighting your emotions. What helps me alot is before entering a trade is stick to your setup/rules and think, ok what could go wrong if it were to reverse on and be in drawdown? and if it does then simply take the L and take a step back try not to look at the market afterwards as it will mess with your psychology.

Awesome brother thank you. Mindset Fridays!! I started with 4500, trade us30 only. Kept trading outside my mentors session. Kept hedging and ended up with multiple trades. Thought I knew what I was doing. Kept adding funds to save my margins. Ended up adding another 30K. Finally closed all the trades with 75k. Felt excited and capable and should have taken my initial investments out then. Greed got me... went back in and got in more trouble. Grew the balance to 120k with 95% open trades. Finally gave up on the chart turning my way. Started closing the losses. Of course 2 days later the chart plummeted. Too late for me. Tried to hang in there. Gave up. Lost my entire account. Brushed it all off, went back in. Followed my mentor. Found you. Joined the group. Bought the LMI indicator. Trade with my mentor before open and learning your scalping strategy at open. Things are looking brighter. Hard earned savings at work again. 💪
