Totally agree! I'm a huge britney fan and what I find quite sad is that she was literally born with talent, a NATURAL ability to sing better than most kids her age.. her singing ability is what got her famous in the first place- what got her into talent shows and the mickey mouse club etc. And yet what she's known for and will always be said about her is she was a great performer but couldn't sing! I LOVE her dancing, it's what made me become a dancer but I also think it's sad another talent (singing) was essentially ruined by her record labels choices ☹

This sounds a lot like stuff I've seen where Britney was 10 or 11 & the baby voice hadn't become a thing. But the song doesn't lend itself to displaying the power & volume she had then. When she was younger there was a Broadway worthy power & belt.
I think you were very kind to her. It really is a shame she doesn’t work with her voice more. If she she really wanted to, I believe she could be a pretty decent vocalist. I think it’s her team that doesn’t allow her, as her millions of fans are used to the pop vocals, so they may not buy her music if she changes that. Then again, she’s likely gain more respect and other fans. Thanks for being kind and professional, I do love Britney and it makes me sad when people are cruel to her. As always, really enjoy your videos!
She started not as good probably because of the anxiety issues she has after everything she's been through. As you said, she's an overall performer, and a great one for that matter! 😄
She said testing testing because they switched the microphone. Normally, she has like a headset on to allow her to perform better, but she switched to a hand microphone.
As a Britney fan and a singer watching I can’t fault your critiques at all. You were very fair and gave her vocals praise when she hit the right notes and went for it. We all know Britney uses playback for her performances because in her career now she’s more about the dance routines, sings parts here and there live, but a lot of the time leaves it to the playback. The tapping on the mic at the beginning, to me, was obviously done to just show she is 100% live and not lip syncing
the tapping on the microphone is her way of mocking the media saying that she does not sing live. she said it's illegal because she rarely uses a hand mic and people are telling her that she just lipsyncs.
Hi, amazing video. The whole tapping on the mic thing was a joke, a little jab at the press as a journalist wrote a long piece e about her not singing live and having her mic on.
You probably didn't know she wasn't allowed to sing in her real voice.. and they ruined it ... by singing high... she is a true performer. The tapping on the mic is a signal that she can still sing, since she wasn't able to sing in her real voice. Bravo Britney.
Artists of Britney's commercial success can exercise more control over their singing than what Britney has done. Look at her contemporaries Christina and Pink, both of them made sure that they had a say in how their voices were used and the music they performed post-debut.
I'm the biggest Britney fan & I so love your honesty. I love that you're willing to give anyone a chance, even if they have a reputation as not the best singer. And I love that you're willing to critique Mariah Carey, who's known to be a grand vocalist. You're unbiased & don't show favouritism towards selective vocalists, respect!
I think the problem is like you said, she doesn’t use this deeper/natural voice anymore. She hasn’t used it since the 90’s so I think her voice is still there but it just lacks practice and control now. But I think this shows she can truly still sing. With a bit of work with a vocal coach to regain control and practice with this voice and she will be a power house vocalist again like she was as a little kid. Really nice to hear her sing live again in that deeper voice. It’s so unique and pleasing to the ears
What I like the most about this video is that Britney starts singing decently but ends up with amazing belts and vocals in general. I think it's because she might have been nervous at first (as she mostly always sings with a backing track or some kind of help and this time it was only her voice), but as she kept singing she relaxed and showed what she can really do
people used to get angry at her because of the playback, so at this point she is trying to be sarcastic and show some haters that she can do something with her voice! Thank you for react to it!! Love it!!
OK let me first explain her tapping on the mic. For Las Vegas residency she only does 2 ballads basically and dance and sing to her other hits, so therefore she her head mic and not the hand mic... where she chose to do this cover is not in her set list, she just got up that day and did something random so now where this cover song came in she was just doing a song with her head mic so of course as a gimic to keep you all talking the tapping is essential to get everyone's attention. Just like what she did in the starting of the cover to I love rock and roll she did in 2001.
When this happened at her show there was a lot of press bashing her lip syncing at her shows and that she can’t sing anymore and this was her clapping back. So the beginning is her basically giving people that talk shit the middle finger.
Thank you for this, most people like to rip Britney apart just to rip her apart. This reaction was unbiased and completely honest, the Britney Army is truly grateful. ❤❤
Thank you for an honest review of this. Its always far too easy for someone to just rip her apart and you didn't. This performance was right after she was being dragged by the press for "lip syncing" at her Vegas shows. This song was a response to her critics and the tapping was a sarcastic jab at their comments.
She was tapping on the microphone bc she's never using the hand microphone, she's always using the one that's basically a headset mic so it's easier for her to do the choreography.
I think the "testing testing" is deeper than just testing the mic. Her label forced her Into that baby girl voice because she sounded too much like Christina Aguilera. They also stopped letting her perform live because she would struggle with the fake voice and break out of it, ruining the image her label created of her. So when she said testing, I get the vibe that she really thought her mic would be off. And I think that's why she says it feels illegal for her to be holding it.
Well tapping the mic and saying testing, testing is not strange. She was being sarcastic due to everyone saying she never sings live and that she cant sing. She defo gave u something to talk about 😂😂
I saw a comment here regarding the mic (testing testing). It may have been a joke to poke fun at everyone for saying she always lip syncs, but after watching her most recent VMA performance with G-Eazy, i’m getting the feeling that she did want to sing live but her team wouldn’t let her. It’s been known that Brit thought she was singing live at the VMA’s, but actually they turned the mic off and played the prerecorded version of it. It’s kinda sad when you think about it. I think she just wanted to be sure she wasn’t being silenced.
Time for Britney to evolve and rise like a Phoenix from the ashes of the past. I think Britney is moving into her OWN voice and style! Good for you Britney, I think you're doing great. Btw awesome feedback on her singing. I hope she sees your vid. You're an ace teacher.
I love your reaction. Very correct. I'm a Britney fan so I was smiling from an ear to the other when O saw this the first time. An entire song sung live and in her real voice, and quite good! It was like fresh water in the middle of the Sahara desert
She was being sarcastic!! Make sure of your facts first! You say you dont want to bring her down but you already doing it! She can say whatever she wants! She was mocking the people who said she doesnt even know how a mic works!
Thank you for the reaction and opinions on this! You are the real honest vocal coach. Her behavior in the beginning was the lead to the performance. She almost never uses microphone so when she pats at the mic the fans will instantly know that something is about to happen.
Britney didn’t rift down to her low voice very well either time, but her other rifts were good. She can still belt (even though it may be rusty), she can growl (which many singers can’t do, let alone do it in a healthy way), and has pretty good tone. This is the first performance since her 2000 MVA where she sings with her real voice without habitually switching to the baby voice every so often. The girl can sing, maybe not Beyoncé or Demi level but she can sing. I just hope she can show the world an entire album worth of her true voice. Maybe B10?
She did the mic tapping because the entire reason she did this whole number was because of the media dragging her for lip syncing. Pretty much saying she never sings live at all and can't. It was like a "Hey, look assholes, the mic is on!." and then she sang Let's Give Them Something To Talk About so they would actually have something to talk about.
I LOVE how honest u are without giving hate. Britney is like my biggest idol and i love her voice, but u gave me a brand new view on her voice. Thank u❤️

You probably didn't know she wasn't allowed to sing in her real voice.. and they ruined it ... by singing high... she is a true performer. The tapping on the mic is a signal that she can still sing, since she wasn't able to sing in her real voice. Bravo Britney.
This is as you said not “Britney we used to hear”, i think thats why she seldom sings like this as her company wont allow her
Artists of Britney's commercial success can exercise more control over their singing than what Britney has done.
Not really a Britney fan but I enjoyed your reaction and your explanations. Cool video!
I think her saying ‘testing’ was to show everyone that she is not lipsyncing
I think the problem is like you said, she doesn’t use this deeper/natural voice anymore. She hasn’t used it since the 90’s so I think her voice is still there but it just lacks practice and control now. But I think this shows she can truly still sing. With a bit of work with a vocal coach to regain control and practice with this voice and she will be a power house vocalist again like she was as a little kid. Really nice to hear her sing live again in that deeper voice. It’s so unique and pleasing to the ears
I love this performance, wish she would do all of her hits with this wonderful voice , proud Britney fan
I would love to see you do a reaction to the entire evolution of Britney's voice from Star Search and MMC to now!!!!!!!!
React to Britney singing you oughta know live next time pls... the 💙
She did it in other clip
She did and she loved it
Thank you for an honest review of this.
She said testing testing because she doesn’t use a hand mic she only used a head mic for most or maybe all of the show
I feel she tapped the microphone bc she said the same thing in her movie before she sang "I love rock and roll"
She was making fun of the fact that people say she lip syncs, that's why she was "testing" the microphone
She had danced a lot on the show so far. So her voice... still good.
Testing testing ; making sure they (conservators) haven’t turned it off to stop her?……
I love your reaction.
The microphone thing seems so different now that we now they were letting her do her own stuff while performing… #FreeBritney
