Mel B had a *stunning* voice at the start of her career. She had such deep, sultry notes that added so much to that first album and its R&B vibe; Last Time Lover and If You Can't Dance, especially.
Yes MelB she is the most hard working among the group.. a singer, host reality show, judge, stage play singer, actress, manager everything.. shes even responsible for their 20th reunion.. amazing woman
Yesss Mel B's deep voice together eith z great harmony of other 4 girls was always something that made Spice Girls so unique and pleasurable to listen to❤
It’s pretty rare to find someone who ranks Victoria higher than Geri and it’s cool to see coming from a vocal coach since I always thought Geri was the weakest Spice Girl vocal wise. Your list is the same exact as mine. :). I agree whole heartedly with what you said about Mel B as well. Mel C is just incredible. X3. She and Emma were always my favorites.
Victoria has always been a better vocalist than Geri. Victoria struggled with her vocal control (why she was great some places and not great in other places) but Geri never truly sang. Geri mostly talked during her songs. Geri had more control over her vocals though. Even though she couldn't carry a tune, her voice appears clear and stronger.
@@jaywest3734 I said exactly the same thing in my comment, and I hadn't even read yours! That Victoria has a pleasant tone and |Geri talks rather than sings.
Mel B her voice is very underrated. Its probably true that she had not had much training but during the Spice Girls she had this beautiful low tone you couldnt miss. It sounded very dark, very gorgeous You can say that in the song "Stop" you hear Mel C and Emma but they got famous with the song WANNABE wich is a Mel B song!! Wannabe is Mel B and Mel B is Wannabe.

Definitely Mel C is best. I really like how distinctive her voice is as well. Mel C's also done the musical theatre thing, playing Mary Magdalen in Jesus Christ Superstar. I liked her for that, because that's not particularly easy and showed she has acting chops as well. Victoria's done very well with the business side of things and that's something Geri gave her a lot of credit for - Geri said nobody was ever going to be able to rip the Spice Girls off with Victoria in the band. I'm not sure who I'd put last out of Geri and Victoria. Geri did a lot better when it came to record sales and chart positions I think, but I think that was achieved more by Geri being such an unstoppable force of nature than her being a better singer. A PR team would have found Geri quite easy to sell because she was so good at selling herself (that sounds wrong), probably the easiest because of her charisma and naughtiness. Victoria was never a crowd-pleaser and was really quite shy, hence why she was the pouty, standoffish Posh Spice character. Both of them did live performances as you've shown, and I think good on them for trying, because that must have been incredibly scary, especially since they both knew they weren't top vocalists and knew they'd also get slated no matter what they did.
I agree with you. Mel C and Emma are the strongest and Victoria and Geri are the weakest. I couldn't agree more with youur opinion about Mel B. Please, react to Little Mix!!!
Mel C all the way! 'Northern Star' was a massive solo success and she has done better than all the others put together as a solo artist! Lovely voice whether Rock or ballad.
MEL C/SPORTY was always the one I thought had potential as a kid. She had that song with Bryan Adams and Left Eye from TLC in the late-90s/early-2000s aswell, good tunes. Totally agree with your choices and the order they’re in. Should do boy bands next; New Kids, Backstreet, 98 degrees, Nsync, etc
Mel C definitely! I was 15 when Spice was released and I can say she was the reason why I loved the band! Do you remember her duet with Bryan Adams??? 😍😍😍
Melanie C for best vocalist obviously then Mel B and Emma then Victoria and then Geri. Geri makes up for it though with her personality, creativity and passion.
Love this! Agree with the listing. I remember in 1997 after the first live gig in Istanbul one paper ranked them in three levels: Best: Mel C Then: Emma and Mel B Last: Geri and Victoria
Geri comes bottom singing and dancing for me but she has that star quality. My ranking (same as honest vocal coach): 1. Mel C 2. Emma 3. Mel B 4. Victoria 5. Geri
I simply adore your videos, Georgina. You are so amzing. Love to see how passionately you talk about the Spice Girls. You are so straightforwarded not being shady. Keep it up.
Totally agreed with your choices! Of course, I've been a fan of Melanie C ever since the Spice GIrls and her solo material is absolutely incredible. Both her albums The Sea and Version of Me have to be her best. Thank you for doing these videos!
Mel C has always been the powerhouse of the group, but Emma and Mel B always held their own as well. Great video! you got a new subscriber! Have you ever considered reacting to Poppy’s music. She has a really high vocal range so it would be interesting to see what you think.
I like Geri’s “CD voice”; it’s got a great pop sound after it goes thorough production. She’s good at songs and styles that call for more quirkinesses, attitude and fun.
i agree, this is how i rate them. melanie c specifically stood out for me since the very beggining, she really can do pretty much anything with her voice and she kept improving through the years
1. Mel C, as what most non Spice fans would say, "the only one who can sing." The only one who still has a music career. I love powerful voices like Whitney, Mariah or Celine Dion so for me, Mel C's tone is pleasant and distinct. She is top tier.
Mel B has had moments. I agree with this ranking though. I enjoyed her on Sisters Doin It For Themselves, Something Kinda Funny and other live Spice Girl era performances. Hope this isn't the last Spice video... Love them so much!
I think that the skill levels are closer than we think, if Victoria had more confidence and gusto, she could probably have done better, and if Geri had learned to hold back more and focus on vocal discipline, she would have done better. Mel B. is still quite strong in my opinion, and I've heard some rough live performances by Emma, granted though it tends to happen when she's singing solo and attempted to dance. Back in 2019 though in their mini-tour, all the girls I thought did quite well! Of course, the one singer of the group that was always consistently good was Mel C., and it makes sense! The other 4 girls say that she was always the disciplinarian of the group who took practice and rehearsals the most seriously. During the rehearsals for the 2007 tour, there's a rehearsal clip of her scolding the girls and gently reminding them to take things seriously. She's a very hard working woman! EDIT: That said, I think I mostly agree with your list, and if you gave bonus points for the girls who sang harmony (Victoria often taking low harmony and Emma virtually always taking the high harmony) the list makes sense to me.
Melanie C was in Blood Brothers and Jesus Christ superstar, she received awards for those!!! She is definitely the strongest still. Yes, most singles, most albums, most tours!!!
Yup. Melanie C is the one with a real musical talent and have loved her solo career. Her back catalogue has some real stand outs. She's really built her own audience and is in her element on stage with her band in tow. The other girls are wonderful as part of the group as they were about something more than just musical ability.
I thought too Mel C is the strongest. But Emma has wide range as well. Their duet "I Know Him So Well" is amazing and same when they do "2 Become 1" together. But over all, 5 of them singing together produces magic!
I agree. I think posh spice could train her voice more if she wanted to but she’s not a confident singer due to being a perfectionist and maybe stage fright of singing live. But finally she’s one of my favourites especially in viva forever and I loved her solo album she should have done more and grew more confident. Obviously fashion was her niche but she has a beautiful tonal voice
Without a doubt Melanie C. 😎 Talent wise. Amazing, true vocalist. Emma comes second. Very soft voice and has bigger range as a vocalist than Mel B, Victoria and Geri. Mel B used to have one of the most beautiful harmonies in the group. The live version of Viva Forever on one of the tours between her and Melanie C. Victoria and Geri are definetely the weakest talent but both are very popular and they have a good share of star power within the group and personality.
@@lonelyhorse5313 @TI Better? How come? Music wise? Just stop making fool of yourself! Melanie C is the best vocalist in The Spice Girls. And had the most success as a solo artist. 😎
I agree with choices 1 - 3, but I would have swapped Geri and Victoria. I enjoy all of your videos. I wish I could sing, but I’m amazing at singing in the car, alone. 🤣 Have you done a video on Bananarama?
I predicted your list 100% and agree 100%. Mel C always had the best voice in the group. Her range is better than all of them, she can do it all and has that soul in her voice. Your list is spot on! Of course I love them all!
It is worth to notice that Melanie C had a successful career on a stage. From 2009-2010 she acted in Blood Brothers. In 2013 she starred as Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar Arena Tour. And in 2013 she released an album of musical theatre songs "Stages" :)
Great list. Mel c has been always the best singer. I love how respectful you in your opinion . Some coaches would destroy them in mean ways . And u did review them in such a loving way. U r lovely
I agree with her... Mel C is the best in the group. Her top is the same that mine, except for Geri and Victoria, I would put Victoria as 5 and Geri in the number 4
Efraín Colmenares Fuentes Victoria has better techniques and could sing in tune and harmonize. But if you’re comparing now when Victoria rarely sings if at all, then Geri
So true. Mel C and Emma are the best singers of the Spice Girls, so they are the only ones with musical careers still active today, especially Mel C. It must be said that Geri sings much better today, than 20 years ago !!!
I just love how respectful and kind on your critics! I’ve been a huge of the girls and their solo careers and I totally agree with your choices! They are all iconic and successful but in singing you are totally right! Thanks for being so sweet on your feedbacks! U are amazing I love your videos!
As a girl band, they were unrivalled. Not due to brilliant singing but to the message they were giving and the sheer force of each their personalities.
I think you're right on all accounts. However, Geri's stage presence made up for it in comparison in Victoria. Saying that I personally did not like ScarY spices persona and Posh was unrelatable by her lack of expression. I think as a group the combination was brilliant, needed, their contrasts in personalities brought the best out in each other on stage and while they all had different tones too, which was good, it was a shame that only Mel C had the talent when it comes to being a singer!
My goth friends LOVED Victoria when we were kids. Dark hair, stylish black dresses and tops, cat-eye make-up, and most importantly, she was demure, subdued, and never smiled.
1. Mel C 2. Emma 3. Mel B 4. Victoria 5. Geri Anyway, Victoria’s voice reminds me of Andrea Corr. But she should stick to fashion. Mel B was just loud but no tone in her voice. She’s more of an overall performer than a singer. Geri should stick to songwriting instead! Lol
This is fair, particularly for these performances. I think if we were talking about studio vocals, I'd place Geri above Victoria, and possibly Emma at number one because it's such a beautiful recording voice.
Victoria definitely goes above Geri. Listen to their reunion vocals. Victoria may not have had the self esteem but her vocal range and vibrato were better than Geri’s
I love all of them as a whole, I mean they seem like something out of my dreams! 😍 I just couldn't believe they were real back then... The whole purity and positivity they were constantly emanating and VIVA FOREVER come on! 😍 But I really appreciate your technical opinion about their voices. I couldn't agree more! 👍🏽❤️
Georgina, I recommend reading the book "Wannabe: How the Spice Girls Reinvented Pop Fame" by David Sinclair (if you haven't read it already). It's a really well-researched book about the group and their backstory.
Completely agree. Back when they were at their heights in the late 90s, I would have put Mel B in second place and Emma third, but not any more. Also, I always thought Geri was vocally the weakest even though Victoria was often regarded by many as the worst singer of the group. Yet Geri was probably the most popular member before she originally left. Mel C as best vocalist has never been in doubt. Really interesting analysis, thanks!
Even though I felt all the girls had decent enough voices on their own, it was that special blend of the 5 that really defined them. Take any one of them away and it is not as special.
I remember being 8/9 years old singing "2 become 1" and my Dad overheard me singing the chorus "I need some love like I've never needed love before, wanna make love to ya baby..." and asked if I knew what it meant. I said no and he told me "good!" As an adult now I remember it and laugh, my poor Dad, he must have been so uncomfortable listening to his only daughter innocently repeating lyrics! 😂😂 Great throwback at the end btw, memories flooding back! Lol 💜
Hahaha, I know how you feel there. I also experienced the same. And now when I've become an adult, I can't listen to 2 Become 1 without laughing or (at least) giggling 😁😁😁👍
Spice Girls were My first connection to English language... I was born during the war in Croatia and I was 3-4 years old when My sister was playing Spice Girls cassette over and over again. I learnt the lyrics in broken English and I remember friends and neighbours being in disbelief when they heard a little girl singing in English 😂
Completely unrelated, but I heard my girlfriend's nephew "singing" along to a Jay Z song a few months ago. Let me tell you, hearing the n word and the b word coming out of a little 8-year-old white boy's mouth was oddly terrifying and humorous at the same time.
I have watched a couple of videos, and your job is great. You're so sweet and your honesty is great, very smart and respectful way you have to say what's wrong without being offensive. I can see you are great at it.
Victoria does have some talent i feel like this was a very bad performance to choose. She's had some good songs, and that one wasnt her best imo. Mel C tho GOD she's so amazing, i LOVE her voice. Shes one of the best singers around I feel.
Definitely Mel C. She was the best from the beginning and till now she's still the best out of the group and I think she even improved throughout the years.
Victoria was actually a Musical Theatre kid whose voice and training leaned towards broadway musical. In Spice Girls, she was pushed to the background for harmonies due to hitting the lower notes. When you listen to the Spice Girls, you can hear her voice getting poorer as the years go by due to the lack of confidence she developed in her singing ability as the tabloids and the public constantly attacked and criticized her vocal abilities because she never did big solo parts for the Spice Girls. In essence, her confidence is self took a beating due to the abuse she copped, so whenever she sings now, she is stuck in her head. You sadly see this with quite a lot of singers, where they had amazing voices at the start of their career, not necessarily strong voices, but still beautiful musical, criticism and public attacks, their self esteem in the abilities negatively impacts their voice.
Mel B had a *stunning* voice at the start of her career. She had such deep, sultry notes that added so much to that first album and its R&B vibe; Last Time Lover and If You Can't Dance, especially.
Mel’s voice is so much nicer when she sings in a lower tone rather than when she sings higher.

Mel c "sporty spice" always was the strongest, most technical and unique voice in the spice girls. Hands down.
Her voice has become very nasal throughout the years, though. Her voice was so smooth in songs like Stop or Too Much and now she sounds like a cat.
I agree with you.
Xenon Doro in my opinion her voice is even better as she got older but I guess it’s matter of opinion
Xenon Doro probably because someone at the manufacturing company keeps putting moulds and cat hair allergens in my food! Produces a nasal sound!
Agreed! Very unique tone aswell
Mel C was always practicing and training her voice. Working out and singing, eating right...Vocals survived the 90s, 2000s, and 2010s

So true. Mel C and Emma are the best singers of the Spice Girls, so they are the only ones with musical careers still active today, especially Mel C. It must be said that Geri sings much better today, than 20 years ago !!!
I agree with all that you told. Melanie C is the spice girls voice!
Emma hands down for me!💕💕 She has a beautiful singing voice.🎶😘
I just love how respectful and kind on your critics! I’ve been a huge of the girls and their solo careers and I totally agree with your choices! They are all iconic and successful but in singing you are totally right! Thanks for being so sweet on your feedbacks! U are amazing I love your videos!
Thank you!
As a girl band, they were unrivalled. Not due to brilliant singing but to the message they were giving and the sheer force of each their personalities.
Viva forever will always be my favoirte song from them, or Goodybye... Beautiful songs
Almost agree with u. My ranking is
1. Mel C
2. Emma
3. Mel B
4. Geri
5. Victoria
I agree!
@@lonelyhorse5313 Not music wise. Sorry not sorry. 😘
Vic is actually technically better than geri but the rest I agree with
1. Mel C
2. Emma
3. Mel B
4. Victoria
5. Geri
Anyway, Victoria’s voice reminds me of Andrea Corr. But she should stick to fashion. Mel B was just loud but no tone in her voice. She’s more of an overall performer than a singer. Geri should stick to songwriting instead! Lol
I agree with your list. This is exactly how I see them from a vocal standpoint.
100% agree with your choices
Mel C the strongest, but I like how their voices sound different and you can tell them apart!
I love all of them as a whole, I mean they seem like something out of my dreams! 😍 I just couldn't believe they were real back then... The whole purity and positivity they were constantly emanating and VIVA FOREVER come on! 😍
But I really appreciate your technical opinion about their voices. I couldn't agree more! 👍🏽❤️
I love Mel c voice ,it doesn't change at all,💖from Algeria
Georgina, I recommend reading the book "Wannabe: How the Spice Girls Reinvented Pop Fame" by David Sinclair (if you haven't read it already). It's a really well-researched book about the group and their backstory.
the only real singer in spice girls is Mel C
Completely agree. Back when they were at their heights in the late 90s, I would have put Mel B in second place and Emma third, but not any more. Also, I always thought Geri was vocally the weakest even though Victoria was often regarded by many as the worst singer of the group. Yet Geri was probably the most popular member before she originally left. Mel C as best vocalist has never been in doubt. Really interesting analysis, thanks!
Even though I felt all the girls had decent enough voices on their own, it was that special blend of the 5 that really defined them. Take any one of them away and it is not as special.
I agree. Melanie C was always my favorite Spice Girl, especially for her singing.
Yep yep correct. Geri Victoria Mel B. Emma and the top 1 Mel C
Spice girl for ever😍
totally agree Mel C
I love this girls forever..... I cant wait see the spice next week in Manchester..... Thank you georgina!!!!
I always thought Mel C was the best
Sure
I agree 👍
Amen 🙌
Agree with everything you say! So glad my vocal taste is correct and spot on :)
Mel C
Im loving your vintage retro vibe.
Lmao
Same here, iam not a native English speaker, and the same happened to me with 2 become 1 🤣
You should check their Take Me Away perfomance. It was before their debut. Victoria shows so much vocal moment there.
Mel B's voice is soft I love it, and I agree when she does harmonies with Mel C is powerful
Definitely Emma from my POV - with Mel C in 2nd 👍
I think geri's voice suits broadway style songs so well, like in their song 'the lady is a vamp'
I have the same order Mel c is my favourite
