The Colorado Trail spans 550 miles from Denver to Durango. Along the way, riders (or hikers) travel over stunning mountains while passing through some of the state's most beautiful terrain. This experience tested me in every way, I mean, there's 72k feet of elevation gain, it's HARD! I took on this challenge in July of 2021.

Who wants to do this trail someday? It’s hard, but definitely one of the most impactful adventure experiences of my life
I will one day!! Can’t wait. The difficulty oof Bikepacking trips is what makes everyday life feel doable. I just finished the Huracan 300 in Florida. Harder than you’d think for being in flat Florida. Especially the chest deep river crossing. Thanks for the content!!
you ride, I run. We'll meet at the end ;-)
It's on my list!
Ride or run? Tough choice. The biking looked tough! Great video, Ryan!
Ya see I wanna go bicycle touring at 17 and start small and local to work my way up into the north east coast by North Carolina and Virginia and then turn around and come back down to like Florida and head back towards Texas
Wow!! I've hiked parts of the Colorado Trail with my Dad and he took some incredible videos and put together a very nice video of the last 100 miles or so. My Dad's goal was to hike the entire trail but being diagnosed with cancer slowed him down a bit then after beating cancer he wanted to try it again, but he lost too much strength, so he started trying to get in shape again, but cancer caught up with him again and he passed about 4 years ago. Maybe someday I will mountain bike the trail and use some of his video and mine to complete what he started. First step, building or purchasing a backpacking mountain bike and getting my mountain biking skills back and getting this 55'ish body in condition and finding a way to get time off of work.
why not do it in his memory!
Truly sorry for your loss.
Ryan, the quality of the video is just amazing. Thank you so much for the what must be hours of editing - it makes great watching over here in the UK.
It takes A LONG TIME to edit all this, but I love sharing the story, thanks for watching!
You are really filling a void in that adventure cycling niche that so many of us love. Crazy to see how far your channel has gone and is going. Planning my first bike packing adventure for this summer. Thanks for all of the tips and inspiration my guy. Keep going!
Thanks! It’s been a slow road, but I’m finally picking up steam! Have fun on your adventures
Mind blowing scenery. I would love to do this trail.
The scenery is SO BEAUTIFUL!
This is one of my favorite series. I'm loving the uninterrupted version.
Definitely a "Bike it List" item!
Thanks! I loved putting it together into one video
Thanks for sharing your adventure! I am a 15 year old who dreams of going on this adventure one day. Thanks for inspiring me and so many to get out there!
Great dream to have at your age Ben!!! Def worth it and all the life lessons learned!
Awesome!! I hope that you make this happen someday, it’s worth all the effort
I’m a hiker, camper, biker and runner, BUT I’ve never even thought about bike-packing…until now! All I can say is thank you, and WOW!! Godspeed, brother 💪🏻🙏🏻
The best content on RUclips. Amazing videos. You make it feel like the watcher is right beside you. Your endurance is amazing!
Awesome adventure RVD! Thanks for sharing this epic Colorado Trail system on your bike packing trip.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it
Your stories are amazing! Your adventures are amazing! Keep it coming because every story you tell rocks.
Fantastic video. Thank you for showing us all such an amazing landscape. I rode a few sections of the CT about 14 years ago, so this bought back some nice memories of singletrack through the aspen groves.
Absolutely beautiful and epic! Thanks for showing us, Ryan!
My pleasure!
Ryan, I'm just floored by the way that you brings a smile on all folks you meet and how you inspire so many people to enjoy this beautiful planet of ours and live healthier lives. We are all so blessed to have you share these incredible adventures with us 🙏
Thank you for inspiring me to finally make some major career and life changes to focus on my physical and mental health. Hoping to meet you out there in the trails some time!
Absolutely awesome - that's like, top shelf adventure television documentary. I watched it in sections over the past week when time permitted. Stay safe out there, and always stop long enough to smell the sage!!!
Thanks for the reminder that sometimes things get tough and it’s all part of the experience. A number of my adventures haven’t gone so well and I thought it’s because I don’t have the “right stuff.” Hasn’t stopped me though (yet!). Next time I’m in a tough spot I’ll think of you struggling up a mountain and perhaps stop for a happy dance or something!
Awesome, thanks for all your hard work. Your videos have inspired me a ton and I’m planning my first week long bike packing trip largely because of you!
Right on!! I wish you all the best out there!
Ryan man I LOVE the energy you bring it's definitely an inspiration on the "low" days keep up the good work 🍻👍
Thanks! Happy trails
Many of us spend our lives feeling trapped in a ho-hum job, finally retiring with failing health only to croak a few months later. For 42 years you´ve found a way to live your dreams while still contributing something; and, in all sincerity, I salute you for that.
Thanks Charles, I'm really fortunate to be able to do what I do. THANK YOU for watching, and for the kind words
Thanks for another great video, Duzer! The trail looked amazing and you’re hardcore! I like your content because you’re a genuine and very positive person - and you seem like an all-round good guy. Keep pedaling, stay safe and happy trails!
What is good and sweet about you Ryan, you meet people, and talk to them on your way. That’s so nice and encouraging.. people feel appreciated.
It goes both ways. I love connecting with people, it inspires me!
@@duzer that’s so nice of You.. God bless
Ryan, I enjoyed watching your videos and the good vibes you share with us. I’ve been mounting biking for a while but had never done bike-packing. I would love to experience the excitement, joy and pain one day. Maybe once life gives me a break, I’ll grab my bike and just do it! Thank you for sharing your adventures with us 👍🏻
I hope that you make it happen! It’s worth the struggle
FRIJOLESSSS!!! thanks for these awesome videos Ryan!
Frijoles!!
I love the vulnerability you reveal in your content. It's inspiring!
Thanks Jay, I wear my heart on my sleeve
The perfect video for a snowy Colorado day. Thanks for all your hard work putting this together!
Light snow in Montana today too neighbor.👍
I’m all cozy at home boulder! Enjoy
Man, you just inspired me to keep on pedaling. Thank you for giving us quality content! - from Philippines
You got it!! Happy trails
Ryan your positive attitude is so addictive! Your videos really capture the pure fun of biking. I hope to run into you one day on the trail!
Thanks for all your inspirational videos. To watch your videos gives me strength to cope with the next big challenges on my bike. Greetings from Europe.
I wish you all the best on your future bike adventures
I was waiting in anticipation for this video to come out! Love the long length and no music. Our next USA trip (I am in the UK) will be to Boulder and Colorado and I can’t wait to ride your trails - maybe one day I could do the Colorado trail in some of that lovely hot weather!! Thanks Ryan for the inspiration. 😁
Lemme know when you come through boulder! If I’m here, I’d love to meet you
@@duzer that would be amazing thanks!! Your rides in the sun are what’s keeping us UK fans going through our dark wet and dreary winter!
Ryan, your energy really motivates me to go on my own adventures. I believe I have all that I need except a sleeping bag and perhaps a down jacket. Looking forward to go on a trip this May or summer holiday :)!!
I wish you all the best on your future adventures!
Really enjoyed this video and appreciate all the extra work you so filming these videos to really take us viewers along! 😍 Also, love the “my mom would be so proud of me” moment haha I’ve had that thought before on my adventures 😂
Just watched your Colorado Trail video and loved it. I hiked Molas Pass to Durango with a friend several years ago and it has brought back so many memories. We also hit a hail storm. Loved the drone videos. My husband and I are avid bikers but being in our late 70's we stick to paved Rails to Trails and are loving it. I will be watching your future adventures. We also had some Trail magic from Gudy Gaskill one of the founders of the Colorado Trail.
Ryan! You are so inspiring, not only to get out and enjoy the world and it’s beauty and people, but also to be a genuine and positive person. Watching you as you put your body and mind through struggles and discomfort and still keep such a positive attitude is amazing. You have really inspired me to plan a bikepacking trip soon. I may do one this summer in Maui if I can get out there to visit my friends. I’ve done a little cross country and downhill in the South Island of New Zealand before and loved it. Thank you so much for doing what you do. Much love to you brother. You always have a place to park your bike and lay your head if you make it to the triathlete capital , Clermont Florida
Thank you for the kind words, I really appreciate your message. And I hope to meet you someday! Happy trails in Maui
Ryan you taking us with you in these adventures is like a calling or your ministry. I love it man. The heavens and the earth declare His glory and you sure have an awesome way of showing us what it looks like! Thank you bro! No whammys!
Thank you, this comment means a lot to me.
Amazing video Ryan and so inspirational, I am just starting to get into bike packing and this is certainly on my bucket list as the start is 20 miles from my house. And my 19 year old daughter wants to ride it with me! Thanks for sharing!
Great seeing this all in one video.
California really needs a trail like this!
Thanks! I loved putting it together
Such a relief to watch video without music, unique content!
Thanks, I like making these au natural edits
Duzer, these videos are consistently my favorite escapes from my every day life. I appreciate your dedication to film making and cycling alike. Thank you so much.
Love hearing this! Thanks for watching my vids!
Sooo glad you're back....and hope you're doing better and rested from some time off. I watched all of the individual posts of this journey and thoroughly enjoyed them. Now I'm enjoying them again as you've done a great job of putting them all together!!!
You're massive HAB most of the way thru this journey is really inspiring....of course there is the gopro affect....but when you're pushing and BEHIND the rear axle...that's STEEP!!! So well done...in so many ways. Happy Trails my friend!!!!
Thanks for watching this again!! Loved putting together the long version.
I can't wait to do this! Thank you for all of your videos I love your content!
You inspired me to hop on the bike 🚴 thank you 🙏 watching you from California…
Happy Trails!
Wow. I’ve watched the individual segments, but watching this extended cut really blew my mind. Not only about how beautiful & intense the Colorado trail is, but just how much video footage you had to edit! How do you keep track of it all?? 🤯 🚴
Thanks, this was a ton of work, but really fun to put together. I'm pretty good at managing media these days, it's all about keeping files very organized. CHEERS!
One of the best adventure videos I've seen. Great trail. I felt every bump in the road. Beautiful photography and editing. Kept my interest from beginning to end. Awesome, Dude!
this is a dream, such a nice ride. Time well spent
Guessing this has been asked elsewhere; how many extra miles did you ride just setting up the camera, riding back and forth to it to film the b-rolls of you riding? I'm always fascinated by how much dedication it takes to go above and beyond to capture a documentary style of solo adventuring.
I just relived my CT ride through this vid. You did a fantastic job of capturing the beauty but you totally downplayed the difficulty. It's way, way harder than he makes it out to be, guys. Good on ya!
Thanks for watching!! This was indeed VERY HARD! If you watch the extended series, you’ll see me struggle quite a bit. Cheers!!
Glad the algorithm recommended this video! Truly a masterclass of humility, gratitude, and joy. Thanks for sharing Ryan!
This is incredible to watch. I love your work. It's inspiring me to maybe try my first bikecamping trip this spring or summer (depending on when I can get time off work).
Out of curiosity, how do you get such a wide variety of shots with your GoPro? I have a GoPro 10 but my footage is all pretty much one shot, from my chest mount. Do you have any videos about your filming process? I'd love to learn some new filming tricks to make my footage more interesting.
I use 3 different cameras on all trips, the GoPro is only for movement, I have a Sony for the beauty shots. Here’s my process ruclips.net/video/wyMghJJT_bQ/видео.html
Thank You so much and for not falling to the left. Really enjoying it
hahaha, that's what my mom said :) Thanks for watching!
As someone who's just getting started making adventure films yours are super inspiring. It's cool to see how you tell a story and your rides are EPIC
Definitely want to do this trail. Basically starts in my backyard. I can so relate to having a smooth trail for awhile after doing technical rock and roots. I’m a hiker but was a biker over the hog back to Morrison many times in high school. I love multi use trails as it makes it fun for all. And bikes help break up the dirt. There’s nothing like the butter smoothness of fine ground dirt with no rocks from many bikes passing. The highlight of my runs up and down Mt Falcon those few feet of bliss!
Another Doozy of a Van Duzer!! Thanks, Ryan. Pace yourself because life is a marathon and we will always be here to support you. 🙂
I appreciate that my friend, the support I get from people like you is necessary to keep truckin!
Isn't it just absolutely peaceful. When I went to the Yukon and Alaska, I was taken by the silence. And the vastness of the landscapes. Looks something like your videos.
Glad you are back and up and riding... Good to see you
Thanks! I'm feeling much better
*God Bless KING, Keep Pushing and Keep Moving Forward!!!!!*
You know I will! Thanks so much for watching this
Wow - so beautiful - what a treat for us to see such views - thank you and amazing job!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Greatest hits with the sounds of mother nature. Love it!
She plays the best music!
I love your videos and outlook, man. With everything going on in the news, your videos remind me of the world. Sincerely, thank you.
I love creating these videos, thanks for watching!
I love how joyful your videos are!! Tank you for sharing this beautiful experience!! 😍
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching
As much as I appreciate this video as it has inspire me to take on this trail one day, I appreciate your attitude and perspective towards life. Keep on doing you!
I watched this whole video in one sitting and absolutely loved it !!!
But…….
Now I’m going thru the individual episodes and I like them even better if that’s possible :)
I like the extra detail, plus one cannot get too much of the Colorado mountains !
Thanks !!!!!!!
Well thanks!! I really appreciate your enthusiasm for this series. It was definitely one of my favorite adventures
Man you are so positive person! I love watching your movies. And I’m so amazed how nice trails you guys have in US. Greetings from Poland 🇵🇱 🤘🏻
Thanks! Very fortunate to have these trails in my backyard
Thanks for doing this stuff. You are a special person. It took me 2 days after work but I made it to the end of the video. Really enjoyed it.
Thanks for taking the time to watch this! I loved putting it together
I can't believe the speed of your descents. Wowzer!! Take care and keep on biking! Great videos!
I watched your video through Sweden, and I would way rather be in Colorado. Your video was stunning and very much appreciated as I have only been to Colorado once. The mosquitoes in Sweden were horrific, and being from the Midwest originally, I don’t miss them at all. Now living in the foothills of the the Catalina mountains near Tucson, few mosquitoes and no fleas on my animals. Love your videos, stay safe and happy. We need more of your positive energy on this planet. Thanks!🏜🌈
Thanks again for the reply, and great advice!
Thanks for sharing your amazing journey. Cheers 🍻
Amazing footage and adventure! Great job Ryan!
Thanks!!
Also love how you include clips from those you meet! Loved OT’s inspiration for getting out there!
Meeting people is my favorite part!
Ryan, what Drone ya using? Thanks
great pics, fantastic scenery - thanks Ryan!
Thanks!
Yay!!! Got to see this again!!!!
YAY! Thanks for watching again
Great video! Your positive Vibes are infectious. I have done a few segments of the CT on the San Juan hut trips, Telluride to Moab & Durango to Moab but this is legit! Great work!
I love the flyby waves using your drone.
I have done this trail a few times, and all this Footage together is JUST AWESOME Ryan !!!! ( I've seen EVERY episode) YOU are AWESOME !!!!!
Thanks Mike! I really appreciate your comment. It's SUCH a beautiful trail
I love your state as well. Done a couple of trips to Colorado. Crested Butte has got to be one of my favorite places. We did ride out of Durango to Purgatory and back on the Colorado trail. Small section I know, but so memorable.
Thanks for sharing Ryan. Love your videos. Keep the rubber side down brother.
That’s a beautiful section for sure!! Glad you’ve experienced a piece of the CT!
Okay Mr Ryan I did it I'm out doing what I want to do which is bike packing touring across the country and loving every minute of it ty for inspiring me
Truly unbelievable. The views. The footage. The trail. Your grunting. 😂 The CT has been on my MTB bikepacking bucket list for awhile and now I just have to get off my couch and get er done. Not getting any younger. From just down the street from you in North Boulder: thank you for inspiring me and all of us. You da man. Keep it up.
Right on!! I hope that you do it someday. It’s a stunner
I took my amily to Durango last year during spring break and we stumbled on the Colorado trail by accident. I believe we hiked about 10 miles but it was amazing as there was still snow in some parts. it's on my bucket list now to one day go back and finish the trail from start to finish bike packing like you did. Well done!
Right on!! I hope you go back someday and do it all. It’s worth the effort
Hey, great video! This got me hyped for summer. I'm gonna hike a segment or two of this trail, along with lots of other hiking, biking, and camping in Colorado. Thanks for posting this.
You're gonna LOVE it!!
Damn it Duzer! This morning I woke up motivated and tackled a handful of home maintenance projects. I then see this come up on my feed, and even though I watched all the individual parts when you posted them in the past, I found myself sitting on the couch 90 minutes later rewatching this. :)
MY BAD!! haha, sorry to keep you from your projects :)
@@duzer You can’t apologize for my decisions! Great stuff as always. I appreciate you and your content.
So awesome and beautiful and epic and incredible!
I too would have to stop and spend some time among those beautiful flowers!
A dream trip!
Those flowers are the best part!
Well done. Being alone in the wild, sleeping under stars. One of the best adventures i've ever seen on YT thank you for sharing it with us.
Thanks for watching this! Sleeping under the stars is my favorite thing to do
Thank you, Ryan. A very inspiring movie. I have already done Sections 1-3 on a bike. This was helpful in planning which of the other segments I will do by bike and which I will hike. Thanks again for taking the time to create such professional work.
Glad it was helpful! Enjoy your future adventures on the CT!
Near the end of the video I was on the same emotional rollercoaster with each summit you crested just to see another one to conquer. Absolutely great adventure and congratulations! Aloha!
Oh man that final day was a tough one…it just kept going and going and going… thanks for watching!
Thank u buddy for sharing with us your adventures, I think this is the core of life, to live at its fullest and in deep connection with nature.
No doubt!
Thanks Ryan I'm sitting at home with the flu and watching RUclips 👀. Gives me motivation for when I get better 🙂. Thanks again!
Hope you feel better soon!
@@duzer thanks 😊
Hi friend! Just watched your video through a bottle of fine wine... just loved it! Definitely on my to do list! Cheers from Brazil
These vids are epic man! I've decided to cycle from London to Finland in May and these videos fill me with confidence to go on my first backpacking adventure!!! Can't wait!
That'll be amazing!! Have so much fun
Thank you so much for the Colorado Trail video. I can't do the rough stuff like you do. I'm 77. But I do have an indoor exercise bike, so I do that while I'm watching your videos. Your videos are very inspiring.
Thank you!! Glad that I can take you on a virtual ride of the CT
Simply amazing!
Ryan, You inspire us!!! There's just something about the effort, the skill, the stamina and persistence that keeps me watching... nevermind the fact that you ride the BEST terrain N.America offers.
Thanks, this ride took all the mental and physical effort that I could muster. Really happy with how it turned out. CHEERS!
It’s a snowy night in Gunnison and you made our evening with a super video. All our best. ❤️❤️
It's snowy here too, sending you both a big hug!
Thank you Ryan! I really enjoyed this video.
Thanks for watching it!!
Epic ride!
Great trail Ryan. Looks super challenging with all the walking to get up and over the trails.
It’s a beautiful trail!! And yes, very difficult
Man I love your videos I watch them while I’m at the gym on the bike training for my first backpacking trip ♥️
Awesome!! I wish you all the best out there. You’re gonna love it!
Pretty special guy right there! Thanks Ryan for another great achievement on film. This was epic! There was a moment there toward the end, just before the final downhill, when I thought you were going to say, "Noooo....I can't do this anymore...". Well done. Happy spring - soon to come from the eastern horizon...!
Spring is near!!! I can’t wait for warmer weather
Thank you for this great video, wonderful experience, very enspiring, makes me want to discover Colorado by bike :D
Cheers from France !
Thanks! So glad that you enjoyed this
Ryan thank yo for sharing your adventures I love them best of luck my friend greetings from NJ
Great video. I love that there is no music, only the sounds of nature, the rolling tires and Ryan.
Thanks!! Nature creates the best music
