THIS IS ABSOLUTLEY BRILLIANT! YOU EXPLAINED THIS TO ME IN LESS THAN 5 MINUTES....AND MY TEACHER COULDNT GET AROUND IT FOR 3 WHOLE WEEKS!..THIS IS AMAZING
100% Agree! Since I came to high school, its been AGES since I saw COLOURSSS!! I was FREAKING OUT about it the other day and my sister was so confused lol
In class, my science teacher had put on a cognito video and i got so interested and wrote the name down in class, after that, these videos have rlly been helping me understand science more and more and I've been getting perfect marks in science quizzes, so i rlly thank u a lot and i hope that ur channel gets up to 1M subscribers thanks to how helpful u r
Thank you so much! This helped a lot! This video literally explained the entire chapter of 32 pages on redox reaction within 5 minutes! And I just learnt that it's nothing complicated. Thanks a lot again.
Thankyou so much guys, I didn't get this at school today and then I watched this video and it really helped! Understand it now! Appreciate all ur hard work!
This channel deserves a few million subscribers- it has by far the best videos for any GCSE science and math topics :). A channel that talks about ant queen names and rhino beetles has more subscribers than this. I hereby announce that RUclips is broken.
All fun and games until... You have to finish equations yourself You have to consider pH Ions no longer make sense (like in CaOCl2) You start creating stuff from nowhere
Kkkkk I'm now 39 years old been in lov wth chemistry from school days your video has made e finally understand the reduction and oxidation thank you so very much now I want to understand carbon or organic chemistry
If you’re confused about the charges I just think of it as “if an atom loses two electrons that means there are more protons( positive charge )in the atom than electrons( negative charge)so it has a 2+ charge as all atoms started off with the same amount of protons and electrons. By adding an electron it means there are more electrons in the atom than protons. This means that it will gain a negative charge.
just think about ions, 2+ formed when 2 electrons are lost, and 2- formed when 2 electrons are gained. Which means that they are like inversely proportional so yeah hope you find useful
One mistake is that the electrons in the half equations for oxidation and reduction should be swapped around. For oxidation the electrons should be on the right, vice versa. Great Video overall tho!
Last-minute revision before the unit test. Chemistry is not my strongest point always got 4's hopefully this time round will get 6 and above. Physics and Biology are very easy, mathematics is my strongest. Thanks to you again!
me, in cbse. already in class 11 with my boards over like 2 months ago. Honestly the syllabus is kinda the same as our grade 10. anyways, good luck to all the igcse students i’m sure y’all will do great! :)
I dont understand, 1:03 If it was too lose, woudn't it be -2? please explain as I am confused. This channel has helped me alot and I use your website and have subscribed
In chemistry it is the opposite. Since electrons are negatively charged when an atom loses the electrons the atom becomes positive, that’s why there will be written a 2+ symbol outside the brackets. For example If magnesium loses its two outer electrons it will become +2. And if magnesium gains it’s 6 electrons to complete its outer shell it will become -6
Because it's in group 2 & they lose two electrons to gain stability! They have 2 electrons, which you can say are of no use to magnesium because it didn't gain stability that is why!!
Metal + acid = salt + H2 but he is using what is called an ionic equation where it’s basically just the actual change occurring leaving out the elements that dont matter. So assuming the acid is HClthe magnesium is actually MgCl2 because Chlorine has a -1 charge while magnesium has a 2+ charge so to fill valencies Mg needs 2- charges but in an ionic equation u just state its an ion with its respective charge given to it by its amount of electrons on its valence shell 2 valence electrons = 2 + charge as they lose electrons. 5 valence electrons = 3- charge as they gain 3 electrons to fill their Valencies 8 electrons = full. 4 = either or which is why carbon is so cool.
Have you made a video about water of crystallisation? If so, could you please consider making one? It would really help me as I was sick for a week and missed school... Thanks ur vids are the best! :)

So... when you write (fe + 2e-), do you have to include the negative sign on the (e) and if so, does the sign ever change to positive?
No bcz an electron it's always negatively charged
At 1:54, why does Magnesium lose those 2 electrons?
It's for an example bro
To form magnesium ion Mg²+
Because it's in group 2 & they lose two electrons to gain stability!
