    Something helpful my teacher taught me was OIL RIG which stands for:
    Oxidation
    Is
    Losing electrons
    Reduction
    Is
    Gaining electrons.
    Hope this helped in any way :)

The problem selections for the Redox/Non-Redox Reactions are excellent, however, I found this topic confusing near the end of the video. I will rewatch this video for clarification. This is an error free video/lecture on RUclips TV with the Organic Chemistry Tutor.

  • @daniellegordon1973
    @daniellegordon1973 6 лет назад +67

    Excuse me... but why aren't there rules for types of reactions....... like the brilliant insights you have here? Like... I feel like 90% of the confusion in chemistry is the way the text arranges their information. Like, my text intro's all of the types of reactions rather than putting them in the category of Single or Double Replacement and then getting more specific. The second you did that was the second I got it. Like dang... hours upon hours of nonsensical studying.

    • @101nevergiveup

      If you want, you can balance it. He's just taking oxidation number into consideration, w which doesn't depends on whether an equation is balanced or not.
