Building A Motorcycle Battery Box With Sheet Metal & Simple Tools
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 25 июн 2020
- In this video we design and fabricate a custom battery box for the street legal KX100 dirt bike project. This motorcycle wasn't designed to have an electrical system so we have to create one. We use 16 gauge sheet metal and basic tools to make the part. An epic journey of cutting, bending, struggle and triumph.

Honestly there is nothing better than a video from you guys. I am so happy when I am seeing your content pop up. You guys really make my day 100x better, and I am sure I am not the only one that feels this way.
Same.. 😋
I’ll third that! Absolutely love this channel. And RUclips is my primary source of entertainment
your not alone when I see they have a new vid I get so happy to watch it they make me so happy
"Why do you let me get away with jokes like that?!" LOLZ
Those jokes are all you man and part of what makes your videos fun to watch
If he didn’t tell his jokes it would be like eating shrimp with no tartare sauce...
Plain shellfish
@@duemoto1683 "Plain Shellfish!" lulz!!!
When the world has you down, come here to see some new wholesome content.
Glad you like the videos. The world can bee awesome too, keep your head up!
9:08 now that’s some real slick editing right there
I didn't catch that the first time around, had to go back and check. Slick editing indeed :)
Very slick lol
ha I rewatched several times to see if I saw what I done did see
also 3:48
@@kdt85 I commented about that too. Editing game is on point!
Edit: just a few seconds earlier gives a better understanding
I’ve heard the Harbor Freight cardboard welders are pretty decent.
Just picked one up for myself
Same
What kind of shielding gas do you use for cardboard? Or is it flux core? :)
I heard they were on recall, too.
@@gregv1852 My Harbor Freight has them on back-order.
That last bit is so true, every time I create something I find nifty and am proud of, I will just stare at it and admire it until i realize I gotta move on. Awesome project!
"Just drill, and don't ask any questions."
You've got a quality wife there.
@Pink Alien it's been there too long. I'm afraid the shock would kill it.
Who else never thought about it but, jennies garage has 🔥 editing
watch the kdx200 vids. Really crisp editing. I was surprised
So wholesome. Also, find you a partner that looks at you the way he looks at the mounting bracket at the end.
Damn, I'm a fabricator and sheeeessh! Haha. I wouldn't have attempted that all in one part. Haha. So much work, good job!
Agustin I agree. That was a really fine bit of planning and fabrication. Excellent job Jake! Les in UK
Dammit that triangle edit was SMOOTH. I love it. I love these vids, I love the live ones too, don't take this as encouragement to stress yourself out and make more really hard videos that take tons of edit time from you. Do whatever feels right, and I will watch it! :)
Thank you!
@@jenniesgarage Well played.
I've always beee a fan of cad...
Cardboard aided design
Project binky? Ahh a man of taste!
When I saw battery box I was like "ah how interesting could that be" I forgot, this is jennies garage! True example of the workman's spirit. I find myself admiring finished parts too. My friends would probably think I'm crazy if they saw the way I looked at a newly restored bolt or fuel valve or spring lol.
I actually let out an audible “oooooo” when I saw the finished product. Looks amazing and the video was entertaining and well done! Keep em comin!
I low key love his wife. She is smart, funny, pretty and so supportive of her husband.
That last bit of him turning to admire it made me laugh out loud.
Finally KX100 IS BACK!!! Love the Content guys!
"That's our Benz, and it looks sharp..!" Thus proving that mum jokes are every bit as bad as dad jokes :)...
Nobody make me chuckle more when I watch a video than you two. Thanks for smiles you bring me during the day
Jeez man that ending made me tear up.. “Thanks for the motivation. And thanks for watching” that genuine smile of yours could take over the world. I love this channel (:
jennies garage i wanna thanks you for all the tip on mecanic you have help fix my bike also camera girl thanks for always making me laugh
Dude, that is absolutely amazing! Your skills are unmatched man. Very impressive, and really cool to watch your brain work. I could never do that. Kudos
Anyone else been checking RUclips at least 10 times today waiting for the upload? The longer the video the better. This channel is amazing.
Every time you say thanks for watching. I say to myself thanks for sharing. Great work and please keep the awesome videos coming.
Ifound you through the suggested videos 2 years ago. First your videos are very
informative. I just made a RUclips channel so I'm definitely doing my research.
Thanks for all your help. Please keep it up!
Good for you on starting to upload informative videos, RUclips may be a bit bloated platform but i hope you get a good start To your channel.
@@tomitoropainen2765 thanks man😃🙌
Good afternoon from the UK, good to see you back.
I didn't even blink all 27 minutes, had me hooked to the video the whole way! The battery box turned out great and it was a good learning experience for me. Awesome!
19:37 "made a nice foot massager too" LOL is not the words for this. That's freaking gold!
Good thing theres a filter so the motor dont suck up all th electric air and becomes an ebike
It's an e filter
THE MAN, THE LEGEND, THE KING OF THE DAD JOKES!
yes, yes and yes!
this channel inspired me into a resurrection, resto-mod, barnfind, rescue, Honda Xl185 and I don't even know how to ride. gotta start start somewhere, make a few mistakes and learn to enjoy the challenge for the sweeter earned results. looking forward to the day I can stare at my bike with the same sense of accomplishment as a custom battery box. Thanks a wholesome lot Jennies Garage
Now that’s what I’m talking about! Funny, informative, educational, and click to watch as soon as I see you have a new video up. I never thought of cutting the center of a bend before. The interaction between the two of you is priceless.
"I've always been ok at telling jokes but I've never been good with impressions" :-D
Yay another video! Really love it guys you seem nice and loving people! God bless!! ❤❤
This project is a real testament to what can be done with a few tools, a lot of patience and some brain power. Love it.
For some reason, it was infinitely satisfying to me that you found and snapped those little magnets into ur vice, and then put on those straight edges.
"Traditional place to put a battery on a motorcycle" -> inside the airbox lol
Love your vids dude
it is, especially on enduro bikes
@@henrik7966 People do it. Yes. But that's not it's intended place
Find someone in life that looks at you like he looks at his battery box.
Ok this deserves more upvotes you peeps
Finishing what we start can be difficult, sometimes (okay, a WHOLE LOT!). The pride you must have felt at a job well done was palpable. Thanks!
This is what RUclips was created for, you guys are the best and I sincerely wish we were neighbors! So much to create in so little time lol
You guys have the best content on, and I love seeing you more keep it up please......
4:00 i didn't know you were a GAMER
I can *taste* the pride and satisfaction coming from this video. There's nothing like the feeling of pushing your limits to build something good quality that you're really proud of.
That turned out more gorgeous than a little hidden battery deserves, and absolutely functional. Great work!
Yaayyyyyyy you finally posted I’ve Been waiting so long
You don’t know how many times I lose my tools on my tires
Or footpegs
Now that you painted it, no one will ever believe you made it without first showing them this video. It just looks too well made to be home made.
When you said black could be boring and you were spraying the white primer, I thought, "OK yea, white could look better." But then that burst of green was a great surprise! Well done!
If you’re reading this have a good day :)
Ever thought of converting a gasoline motorcycle to electric?
gym shoe I did it. Great project and only cost 1000$ for a bike that does freeway speeds
Don't take this the wrong way, but judging by what we have seen of his electronics skills so far he doesn't exactly seem the type for this sort of project.
electric motorcy. HAHAOAHOAHOAHOAHOAHA this is a joke right? go watch rich ppl buying wrecked cars naming themselves mechanics and ''car fans" plz... Jesus sweet Christ
Greatest Channel on RUclips!
Woke up to a bad day. It’s all better now that I got this video to watch!! Thanks jake and Jen!! Portland Oregon loves y’all
There's so many "that's what she said" jokes hidden in here, I feel 13 again
Firat i am so excited for a video from you guys. Is anyone else excited?
I love this content! I was out for a walk with the kids when I got the notification, I was like, "ok kids, we should probably head back now," I couldn't wait to get home and watch video 🤣
Haha the cut to the editing room for that joke explanation was hilarious.
Videos are getting mor clever and polished all the time 👍
I loved watching you make this battery box and dang - it came out great! You’d almost think it was factory! It is things like this that expand your horizons and give you the confidence next time to do it again somewhere else. Thank you for showing us this! It wasn’t just informative, but the entertainment is what really sets your videos off. The jokes, the banter - it keeps us all coming back for more and the patience is worth the result!
So glad to have you back making videos. Your bad dad jokes make my day. Your ingenuity is so fun to watch, and reminds me that I don't need a machine shop to do a bunch of the stuff I want to do.
I'm going to school for engineering in the fall and that cardboard mock up really inspired me. I love how someone can make something complex using simple methods!
I like the long videos! It makes the videos more enjoyable, and jake is very interesting explaining things. Of course the short ones are good too!
You need to post more, your one of few RUclipsrs I miss after you stopped posting regularly
That is without a doubt the best battery box I've ever seen, custom or factory. Not kidding. Job well done!
I enjoyed every 27minutes of this video where you guys create a frickin battery box. This proves that you guys can make content of out everything. Dont ever think about not doing a video about something because it might be "boring" -- Because it's not.
That battery box is absolutely beautiful! Worth the wait, thanks for documenting the process so well! Nice inspiration for the rest of us.
On little sheet metal corners, I use a series of tacks. Then, of course, I grind until I can't see my crappy welds. Great job, the end result is superb!
You guys crack me up, and it is too bad that you guys can't do more of these project videos more often through. You guys make my day.
Hahaha I love you guys. Your banter is perfect for a Monday morning - and your projects always help me learn and encourages me to work on my own projects. Thanks guys!
Good work, the finish was excellent and it goes to show you don't need a shop full of expensive tools to make stuff!
Love Jennies Garage! Best making and fixing stuff in the garage show anywhere!
Love you guys , please don’t be gone so long 😁 I’ve been getting withdrawal symptoms 🥴
Looks like Project Binky has brought their cardboard aided design and their love of brackets to your channel.
I love you two so much. I get so stoked when your videos drop. Thank you for the time you spend on letting us into your lives.
Excellent job, a lot more complicated than most people realize.
I am much the same with any project. I sit back and stare at it for days on end. That was an awesome fabricated battery box you made without specialized tools. GOOD JOB MAN
You're a lot like me in that if you don't have what you need you find a way. Be very proud you fabricated a part that never existed and made it look factory. Nice work indeed. 😉👍👌🙏
12:45 shows how great these videos are. Not only are they so fun and entertaining but there’s so many interesting tricks you learn!
Your videos gives me so much motivation to overcome my "screwing fear to ducky things Up"
Thanks for the levity and the clean language!
Awesome work there. Glad to see that you flipped the battery over and got the positive terminal away from the steel. Keep up the good work.
You both need to upload alot more often, i would love to watch a new video 1 to 2 times a week from you guys, I have learned alot from your videos and i always can't wait to watch a new video. Thank you for everything and keep uo the great work you do. Hope you all have a blessed night.
“Not good at impressions”...I laughed out loud and it scared my wife. Great video!
Love it when you are feeling the itch to create something. You guys are awesome, and the process is as entertaining as the results.
Brilliant work and humor!
As a carpenter I like to put an X on the piece I need to keep before cutting. Just a nice tip to keep you on point with the project. Thank you for sharing.
I love that foot massager! Also I am glad to be your audience to let you do the things you want to do deep down. Hopefully I can take a lesson from this!
It's...it's...it's the most beautiful battery box I've ever seen! Well done!
Outstanding job with your wife bike & her battery tray ,thanks, keep sharing ,well explained Mr,Say hello Joe & Bros, suscribes, thanks.
JAKE...I love these vids!!! Film the little things, morning coffee wJen.etc. Don't try to be aPerfectionist. Ten to 15min of simple content everyday will keep your Fans HAPPY!!!! Keep it simple. People i introduce to your channel , love to see the interaction with you and Jen as much as the bike projects...a 12min video of conversation about the current project or up coming projects will work great, then if it takes a month to finish a project build, theFans are still HAPPY! Rand
Awesome battery box. Turned out, shall I say, 'Perfect'.
Thanks for the awesome video. Sometimes when I work on metal, cutting or drilling some holes I hear your voice in my head!
Seeing the final lime green result was so incredibly satisfying! You guys are both amazing ~
Your level of patience is saintly!
I am really impressed! I can't make anything nearly that good. I just made a couple of carpeted floor panels for my $hitty fishing boat where I cut some plywood into shapes, cut some cheap outdoor carpet and stapled it all together thinking I just made a masterpiece. This battery box is a TRUE masterpiece. well done!!
I love this. That feeling of creating and building something of your own, it’s just awesome. Watching you figure it out and using the tools you have available gave me that joy at every step in this video. You guys are awesome.
I'm glad you have an audience that motivates you to make videos, because I love watching your stuff.
Yes admire your custom work like I admire your channel.
In all seriousness this battery box really is quite the piece of hardware, I’d be hard pressed to make something as clean and as functional as you have done here. Props
Great job making that bracket with basic tools, the finished product looked great. Love your humour, keep the vids coming!
You two are the best. I notice and appreciate the increased time and quality of production in this video. Thank you so much for sharing this project.
I hesitantly clicked on this thinking why should I watch a video about a custom battery box. But it turned out really interesting, awesome job!
Wish I could like this video twice. That was amazing.
