Not intended as a criticism, just a hopefully helpful observation. The video got vastly better once you relaxed and started working rather than worrying about the video format and what you called it.

As a young father of 3 i find myself stressed out a lot, when i get my "ME TIME" i like to come watch a Jennies Garage video even if its an old one, something about your videos relax me. I've been watching for eh maybe two years now and i've watched almost if not all your videos. I love them all from these motorbike repair videos, the shasta videos are amazing i don't care about quality i learned so much from those videos and i plan to hopefully buy myself a mobile home to live in and if need be i know a bit on rehabilitating it thanks to the shasta videos. You and Jennie are amazing parents to your boy and it goes to show you don't have to be away from your child everyday in a dead end job to make a living. Also i don't mind if the videos are long id watch your video if it were 1hr and half long there knowledgeable. Hope to see more soon.

  • @johncurtin1890

I would like to thank you because I purchased an older motorcycle and with the help of your channel and others like it. I was able to weave through the fog of working on my first ever bike. With your inspiration( and those like you) I was able to buy someone else’s hack jobs and actually apprciate it in value, practice my skills, and learn about the satisfaction of completing a project. Thank you very much Jake and Jen. The freedom that comes from buying a machine and getting it running like a top is what it’s all about. Also. I’ll watch long videos. Many people don’t even watch actual television anymore so a 45 minute episode like this is just as satisfying as watching an hour long tv show. The uncut nature of these new videos are a cool aspect. Don’t worry about fumbling with words or getting off track. It’s all about the journey of going from not working. To working.

I see you limit yourself a lot in what your saying, as in you feel as though your saying something stupid. In reality it’s really not and becomes more fuller and better for people that listen to this in the background, and I feel as though that will be most of the audience so don’t restrict yourself! I like that you include the parts when you’re feeling low, and the parts when you manage to overcome that.

I am commenting just to tell you thank you and that your channel has been both very instructional and fun to watch. There are many who talk but don't show how, or blow thru how too fast and don't explain anything. However you detail what is done, experiment, show mistakes, and work on lots of various things; it has been tremendously helpful for me. I work in IT, supporting enterprise grade networking and authentication equipment, and own several street bikes. I've done minor work, changed the stater and clutch on my yzf600r, change clutch and brake pads on my Concours 14, and the starter on my vn800, but doing more was very intimidating. However since watching your channel I've bought 5 dirt bikes since last year and so far successfully fixed 2, largely due to your help. One was a 01 YZ426f that would not start but had good compression which turned out to be valve and timing issues (thank you for the 3-wheeler episode which taught me about timing), the other was a 07 TTR125LE with a seized crank. I've spent more money on tools than I did on the two bikes combined, but I've learned much, have a new way to make pocket change, and am more confident about working on my 4 street bikes, and both me and my wife enjoy your watching your channel! Thank you!

Brake fluid will absorb moisture (water) from the atmosphere. Which will cause corrosion/rust inside the brake system. Never use a bottle of fluid that's been open and sitting around for a year plus. This right here is a prime example of why a brake flush in a vehicle is recommend by shops as a preventive maintenance service. Love the vids. Glad to see you stuck to it. Great job. I’m still here all these years later still watching and waiting for more Shasta. I enjoy the motorcycles and other mechanical videos but please start back on the Shasta.

Really enjoyed this video (and all of them).
Your relaxed style of presentation and knowledge that you don’t need the fancy toolset and spotless garage to do things DOES inspire me to have a go myself in my garage. It feels more of a personal interaction than many of the videos that seem to be done just for the views. Yours is your wonderful family, fixing old bikes and things in between living your lives. Don’t be hard on yourself, Jake- you’ve got your subs by being you.
All the best from a rainy Manchester, UK

I like the "Live" videos and greatly appreciate the Jake & Jen Live/live pun. Kudos to you!
If you find these videos to be unbearably long and rambly, you can "cut them short"; not by spending ludicrous amounts of time and effort using your favorite video editing software, but by saying something along the lines of "Right. This video is getting long and I (do not) know an immediately obvious way to [resolve the issue at hand]. Thanks for watching."
If you find yourself compelled to share a conlusion or follow up to whatever you were doing before you "cut", i believe a brief voiceover with some photos or a clip of you talking about and pointing at stuff for clarity can be sufficient for this style of video, since the whole point is to edit as little as you can possibly find reasonable.
As for your concerns regarding the continuation of the video series on the Shasta, I have this to say, beyond expressing my interest:
I watch your videos not only because I like *what* you are doing, but also because I like the *way* you do it; which includes rambling, puns and losing your train of thought. And I think I'm not alone in feeling that way.
Look at it this way: I doubt that a majority of the people watching this video are trying to fix a rear brake master cylinder on a Kawasaki Super Sherpa.
Please feel free to disagree with me =)

I think I can say that I will watch anything you guys post. That being said, maybe the shasta needs a nice collage of old videos during repairs, and an overview of where it is now and how its progressed. Thank you for letting us into your home and giving us some things to joke about. You seem like some of the most real people out on the internet, a family you could spend a day at the lake with and feel like you've been friends with them for years. In short, thanks for doing what you do, and keep up the great work.

I’m not sure, I’d like to see more of these style videos. It’s a bit different and I like that, but I have always liked your old videos because of how you edit them. Really just do what you want, most of your views are watching because you’re simply entertaining, and educational

If you haven't already, go to a parts website like partzilla and look up your bike. You can see fiche diagrams of everything. It might give clues about taking your master cylinder apart. Hope you get it fixed!

Jake & Jen with all due respect, I've never found an issue with the camera or editing work.
An to be honest I'm really not that fussed about it, Because I'm here to see you fix things
which happens 80-90% of the time 😂 stop worrying so much about the haters and just
do what makes it easier for yourselves. Either way the hardcore viewers will still watch the content.
keep up the good work guys 👍🏼
Ps I love the small engine videos either power washers, lawnmowers or generators

Having withdrawals so I watched again, I built my son a PW 50 of your video, a Yamaha wr 250 from your bring back the thump video, and valves on a few 4 stroke bikes with little to know mechanical knowledge at the start, I did all that from what I learnt on your channel, so yes you do inspire 🤙 so if your ever in Australia and I see you, I'll say g'day 🤣🤣

I stopped counting how many times I LOL'd (thankyou for that!). I had the same problem with my KTM. I fixed the defective master cylinder by replacing the master cylinder...

Jake and Jen Love your content, I have been watching for years. I have no problem being brutally honest so here it goes. I think it's great to explore different avenues and styles of film making, however, with the live videos obviously you're not able to get as much progress done on the bikes which is something I enjoy seeing in the videos. Secondly we have to watch all the tedious stuff like filling of air compressors, running of extension cords and those type of things. Third, I do like having insight on who you are as people since it gives the viewer a more in depth perspective of who you are. Either way I will enjoy whatever free content you put out because it is just. This comment is already running too long. Thank you for the videos!

You and your videos are awesome. Don't worry about anything, just do what you do! And, yes, you are inspiring. Your understanding of mechanical engineering is genius-level stuff, and your problem solving abilities are admirable. Beyond that, you and your family are truly kind people and that has a ripple effect in the world. I'm sure you have no idea the positivity you've injected into the world! Keep them coming, please.
