Absolutely you can! Find a good teacher, put in the work, and be prepared to put a lot of work into your flexibility since that comes more difficult to adults. But you can absolutely do it and enjoy it!
You can do ballet at any age, just don’t start with hard stuff for beginners like this girl did. Her placements of the body is completely wrong and will be a hard time to get out of and do the correct way.
people who learn new things like dance, music, language, etc. when they’ve passed the prime learning age have my utmost respect. on top of having an adult life to take care of, they also have to see so many younger kids excelling because of their early start, yet they still carry on and work hard to achieve their dreams and goals. it’s really inspiring to see!
As a ballet dancer of 10+ years, I dont believe you should start doing leaps and pirouettes within your first 2 years of dancing. If you start doing it with the wrong placement it’s a deep ditch to get out of.
she didn't even had her arms right, yet she started doing fast pirouettes 😭 I understand wanting to do the "real" ballerina stuff as fast as possible, but you need to get all the basics right first because later there won't be enough time to fix the "beginner" mistaked
@@LaraOlina its true. Within basics she wont do in properly. :/ Good that she is training, but fouttes and pirouettes are definetely enough hard at first class...
I have been doing ballet for almost 10 years now and I’m getting my point shoes next month for anyone who wants to do it it’s never to late to start now
Congrats on your massive progression! It's amazing! As a dancer the tip I would give you is to spot when turning, turn your head at the very last moment and really fast for it to be there before your body. That will give you the momentum and balance you need to do multiple turns ! Xx
You can do all things through the the Lord who strengthens you(Philippians 4:13) heres verse to takeaway Zephaniah 3:17 for the Lord your God is with you his power gives you victory the Lord will take delight in you and in his love he will give you a new life he will sing and be joyful over you (also read Psalm 23 for encouragement)❤️❤️❤️You are loved keep going
Yes I agree, she clearly has the motivation and determination to do amazing things. If she starts with that foundation she could become a beautiful dancer.😊
As a ballet dancer for 16 years,i see her lacking some ways BUT I appreciate her working so hard. She is getting there!!! Dont give up! You are almost there!
This video actually showed up to me in a really good time bc I started adult ballet in December and from time to time I get sooo unmotivated bc I don't see myself getting better but I don't wanna give up :( thank you really
I’ve been dancing since I was 1 and now I’m 13 and it was hard to get to where I am now but you learnt most of the things that has taken me 12 years to master and you learnt it in 1.5 years, like SLAYY GURLIEE❤
You are doing great for just 1.5 years that is a progress I like to encourage up rising ballerinas because i used to be a ballerina almost my whole life I have experience of 9 years but had to quit ballet due to a few personal reasons but your doing it great girl
Aw thank you so much. I really appreciate it. I hope you feel better. It’s amazing that you danced for 9 years. What a beautiful accomplishment! You will always be a ballerina because you’ve done it for so long! I’m sure your muscles remember everything ✨🤍
You should never start with pirouettes or leaps. As you can see from your grand plié, the form was completely off and your legs were not open enough. You have to start with the basics like plié, hand positions and all that, after you have the basics down your pirouettes will be much better.
Wtf If you're just starting ballet, you DON'T START WITH THE HARDEST THINGS. I was doing ballet (competitively) for 6 years before I started doing fouettes. I hate people saying they do ballet and then literally doing that with no technuique even in the country😂
omg finally an honest comment. been sat here reading through and i’m so confused??😭 i did ballet for 15 years and only started doing fouettés in the last 3 ish. it’s all about perfecting the technique of more basic movements to then build up to the harder stuff, you can’t just start at the top
hi, been dancing for 13 years here! i think it is amazing that you’re taking the courage to do ballet. it’s beautiful and artistic and so difficult! i have a tip for you though. i know you want to do turns and lovely extensions, but you have to start with the basics first. you should have a good solid and technical base to work off of so you can start doing harder things.
1.5 years and having a better split leap is crazy. To help with the turns- imagine theres a string from the bottom to the top of your body, coming out of the top of your head, and imagine someone is pulling at it- making you straighten up. Always helped me the most with pirouettes and stuff to imagine I HAD to have perfectly straight posture. It always fixed my problems with momentum and falling, etc.
It's much easier if you don't start with the difficult things. I see a lack of basic technique here. Get the basics right, like posture, turnout, and port de bras, before you try pirouettes.
I have a tip that will make you spin more, whenever you turn your head it's the last one to leave and the first to arrive, search more about it on RUclips and you'll see ❤
i’m 13 and have been doing ballet 2 years now and it’s extremely hard. i know that the older you get the harder it is to start and be really good but you ate that
This is what i needed today. Last night I had a ballet class and we were working on turns and i felt so inept and defeated. This reminded me that i just need more practice and determination
You are doing great! But to do even better, you can try stretching your turn out and when your doing your pirouette you can try doing the spotting method. The spotting method is when you choose a spot on the mirror or wall that is eye level and when you turn you keep looking at that spot until your head can’t keep looking then turn your head the other way fast and look at the same spot again. Idk how to explain so if you don’t understand just search it up. Keep up the great work!
Wow, that's amazing!!! I've been dancing for a while and you are learning fast. Props to you!!! One thing though is for your turns, you could try to spot. I find it helps me and many others turn better.
ABT dancer here! That is so cool that you are constantly pushing yourself to be amazing. Also, all those amazing turns you want to try/do, it'll require a lot of ankle strength.

Only thing I would suggest is to work on fully reaching through your movements all the way to your finger tips ive noticed through years of competing and now just watching that’s what normally separates those who have done it longer is they learn how to reach through and fully complete every movement they do idk how else to explain it other than fully finishing a move before moving on to the next. It’s a very complex thing to learn more than you’d think and from how far you’ve come in such little time I’m sure you’ll get there sooner than later you’re very talented
I’m thinking of starting ballet again I did it in kindergarten but had to quit bc of my sisters and I was so sad and still am bc I could be rly good probably by now
I started ballet at 11- (pretty late) and now at 15 I started learning fouettés about a year ago, I’ve been on pointe for 1.5 years and starting with the hard stuff is never easier, as recommendation try to start with easier stuff so the harder stuff comes easier in the future, you need to build up the technique before you try things that use so much of you.
Absolutely amazing progress!! I have some constructive criticism though, if you strengthen and stretch your turnout muscles, it will give your dancing so much quality, along with relaxing your fingers. ❤❤
Your prime learning age is 0-3 so all the crap people say about being too old to learn anything is complete bs. Learn WHATEVER you want to learn fearlessly.
I wish I could dance again. I was a ballerina at age 5 and continued to dance for 9 years, my dad couldn't afford it anymore and we ended up moving. Haven't dance ballet for the last 7 years, when I did try again, I was told I was too over weight because I was curvy. I would like to start uo again but idk. Maybe in the future
I quit ballet at 11 and regretted it since. I felt like I wasn’t good enough to go back into it, as all my peers had stuck with it and are now much better than I would be going back to my old studio. This reminded me that, even as a now young adult, I can find an adult class/studio and continue doing what I love, and maybe even be good at it! 🫶
this gave me hope to learn ballet even for just a litte so if theres an opportunity i will be taking a ballet class . its very rare here and im 8 -9 hours away from the capital where there are bunch of ballet class available
My ballet teacher if I fail: do you want me to do it?? She does this thing where you lie on the ground and she bends and basically pushed you back to the ground.
tips for beginners - a pirouette is a BALANCE, not just a turn. so focus on balancing in the correct position with the correct muscles engaging otherwise you will never have a successful pirouette. please do not start just turning!!
Just to clarify, I’m saying this as someone who’s been dancing for nearly ten years. Please, please slow down. If you’re just starting ballet, do not start with the hardest steps. There is a reason most people start with the simplest steps. They’re not lazy, they’re smart. You are going to injure yourself. Maybe at this point, after a year and half you could start doing the harder stuff now, but at least when you started, you definitely had not developed the muscles and technique to do it correctly. There is no point to sloppily learning how to do complicated things and then getting injured instead of starting at the beginning. Take it slow. Master things like pliés, tondues, rhonde de jambes, the five positions, chainees, sautés, developes, pat de chat. Plus, without the proper training beforehand, it’s impossible to be able to do those difficult moves correctly. I’m not saying that you’ll never get there - you are clearly determined and hardworking, and with time you’ll be able to do it all perfectly. You have made a lot of progress, and that is admirable, but just be careful and take it slow.
heyy girly, i can't believe this is only 1.5 years of ballet! i can really see your ambition towards it! ps, i noticed on your pirouettes towards the end that you were half way turned around before your back foot was off the ground, push and then SHOOT your back leg up right away, it will be easier for you to turn and it looks more in control. edit: i just realized that your not spotting make sure you whip your head around while u turn(find an object and focus on it while you turn, try not to take your eyes off of it) 🙃 (i don't want to come off as mean, i really want to help you get into your dance journey! if you want to do ballet, you don't have to start when your young.)
I have always wanted to be a ballerina but I am very tall, fat and was playing the violin (now the cello) and if you are a musician, you know that sports or dances (any physical hobbies instead of table tennis and swimming) are not allowed for me but I want it so badly. And I don't have any stuff for ballet and I know I can ot buy because if someone finds out my cello school career will be over. It is still an impossible dream for me (: I wish I could dance but I know I cannot. But watching those makes me feel happy... Maybe I can start one day..?
start. doesn’t matter when. just do it and if you take classes long enough weight drops off naturally. (if that’s what you’re worried about. main focus should be turnout and ankle strength and don’t go en pointe too early.
Ive been doimg ballet for 13 years point for 5 i recently gave up cause my mentwl heqlth hit a huge low i loved hallet i was doung 14 hours a week for 6 years i kno2 the pwin of ever aching feet the endless blistars and the hours of conditioning you HAVE got this

You go girl
