Came upon this topic when trying to decide. Wanted to give braid a shot in some Ultralight fishing for trout. I paired up 0.3 (7.5lb) braid varivas avani with a 3lb fluorocarbo from varivas all which are jdm lines. Paired with a shimano vanquish 2019
And a Graphite leader belleza ux super ultralight. I think my biggest ick is tying the leaders 🤔

I'm thinking of using monofilament green #4, with a 4# fluorocarbon leader. Although that leader might be too heavy to suspend much.

I have 4lb test clear fluoro on my ultralight trout rig but I just hate how difficult it is to tie my knots or thread it through a bobber. Thinking about swapping it just to make my life easier when tying knots. Great video! Thanks!

Look at the color of the water. In cedar
Water which is dark, a green line is fine. Use a small sinker because trout with take you to the rocks and near the edge. Split shot sinkers are fine and you can take them off or put more on easily. Trout like most fish, like movement.. I always prefer live bait mostly Canadian nightcrawlers that are left long,

Great info! I have a spinning setup my main line is 10lb mono and my leader is 6lb fluro is that fine that my main line is 10lb mono I’ll be fishing ponds and lakes for stock rainbow and brown trout on and off shore and some times some little rivers and creeks I also will be using Carolina rigs or rigs with weights using worms and powerbait and the water is clear and kinda stained would this setup work?

I always use Power Pro and according to the weight of the fish. It'can through lily pads easily and some logs. It's strong but if it gets caught in a tree, you have to cut the line. Lake trout are much bigger and I don't fly fish, When in streams, it is natural for trout to move swiftly through the water.

I'm using 6# mono. For your average trouts small mouth bass. Is that good? 😅

You good, I do 8# and land trout, bluegill, bass, and catfish very easy on Zebco 202 and 33. Pb is 4.2 lbs bass. I won't tell you all my secrets but practice jigging crappie jigs.

I would use 6 lb. Test. No more than 8 . I use gold color hooks with a spinner

      @@dailyofdaytrout have good vision
Typically lighter/thinner line = less visible
