A beautiful Methodist Church song that I learned many years ago and one we sang in our Seventh-day Adventist Church way more often when I was a child than today. I wish they would sing it more often. It is so theologically sound and has a good tune to it as well. Thank you for sharing it, Brother Luke
I am so blessed to have found your channel! I enjoy the parts that you provide. I especially like performance. Since it follows the analysis, that info is still fresh while singing it with you. So far, I remember all of the songs that I have heard you do, from childhood. Thank you so very much for this channel. You are a blessing
A Fond hymn sung often at Our church Main Street Baptist A lovely quaint church In Alton illinois I love every word God Christ Need His people to slow down Listen hear His faithfulness His likeness Thank you Luke
Oh my goodness that was one of my mom's favorites. We sung it in afrikaans and i think it was called Meer Heiligheid. I turned 78 on the 5th of Sept. and i lived now with my son, but i will go through the books i gave the kids and somewhere must be a old Hallujabook with this song in for i remembered singing it out of a book. I'll let you know. Baie dankie vir die storie en die lied. Hope you understand afr. 😜
This is a beautiful hymn sung in Australia by mainline churches. I learnt it when a child & have sung it up until today & often sing part of it to myself during my night watches. I enjoyed singing it with you & my mind boggles that it has critics as to me it is reminding us to have the foundation of our life built solid on the Rock which is our faith in Christ, so that when we go through our day we are on solid ground having spent productive time with our Lord. It reminds me of Jesus when he spent many hours (all night on some occasions) in the presence of the Father before He started his ministry & each day before He went about His Father's business.
Definitely. Some current Christians are all about what they can give with an ulterior motive of getting. It's not about God n being like Him. May thru this song help us never to forget that.
I am so happy that this video was suggested to me when I had just done another video today about this song. About a year and a half ago, I felt led to write additional lyrics to this song that were about the rapture. Today is seven years, seven months and seven days since I did my first video. The Take Time To Be Holy song has such wonderful words. I don't play the piano, but God has had me write new songs and sing acapella. This one for Take Time to Be Holy had a new melody too. New lyrics: Take time to be loving, Christ Jesus our Lord, and He's coming to rapture, the bride He adores, By His blood He did purchase, His saints for all time, Father, Son, Holy Spirit, your power divine. Take time to be watching and looking above, for His glorious appearing, our hearts full of love, In this world we have trouble, but be not dismayed, Jesus promised to take us, to heaven some day. Take time to listen the Holy One speaks, He opposes the proud and gives grace to the meek, Your God goes before you, gives light to your path, Salvation through Lord Jesus, not appointed to wrath. Take time to listen, our God is alive, and He speaks to His children, who closely abide, Our Jesus is coming to rapture His bride, So look up to heaven, our redemption draws nigh.
Wow! What hymn. I'm going to have to see if there is music for this so I can sing it for my church. Thank you for sharing your research. It adds so much more depth and meaning to these songs that should not be lost.
The song is in my 1991 Southern Baptist Hymnal listed as hymn 446. Your explanation of the lyrics makes the song rich and brings out the devotional aspect of Hymns that A. W. Tozer always emphasized. Any great commentator of the word, yes Pink and Spurgeon included always quote hymns in their works and for good reason. I have a 1951 red book hymnal with a song called “When the Home Gates Swing Open” written by James D Vaughan and music by O. A. Paris. I’ve never heard it in a church service, but I love the lyrics and would be interested in you doing the song if possible.
Beautiful & thanks for doing this Much loved hymn, Pls Luke, can you do- Lead kindly light,,? It took is an old classic from ,,U K.~thanks a lot, God bless
Maybe Sunderland did not do much more that was remembered by musicians, but think how rich his impact as he used his inherited money to support the work of the Salvation Army and later of Moody's UK meetings. And - sorry, Pastor Luke since I love your videos - most of us are not good at remembering the names of those who wrote the lyrics or the music that sings theology into us, but Oh, how I appreciate the fruits of their work. Yours, too, as you go over these great hymns. And yes, I can remembering singing this for the last 70 years. (Main church memories started about age 7.)
Thanks for your encouragement 😊! I Cor.1:30 only by Jesus Christ blood are we made holy. Please sing: Our Father my Shepherd, Carried by the Angels, Lo! I am with you always 💯 th video. Chris Phally on RUclips. Psalm 47:5-6😅. You're doing a very good service for the Lord's body.

We must inspire to be holy as our Lord is holy. Make it our motto: to live is Christ and to die is gain.
Hi Luke! I was inspired to buy a hymn history book recently. I did not know this one until last week. Thank you 🙏🏼

Would you be able to do the song " fill me now " by E. R. Stokes / Jno R. SWENEY. IN THE songbook Tabernacle Hyms number 4. Printed in 1943
I'm going to guess that most American Christians are familiar with this hymn.
