Thank you so much Luke for sharing the history of this beautiful hymn. Each summer, my father would take us to a new beautiful destination, usually at our nation’s national parks. Once we visited the Grand Canyon… my father would say “Isn’t our God the most amazing creator” Always remember this is God’s world” As you shared the verses of this hymn, I remembered my precious father and the awe and respect he had for the heavenly Father.
pWhen I was 4 yrs. old my mother not knowing the Bible stories or anything else about Biblical teaching, told me about our Father's magnificent world/creation and how He had created it just for us. My eyes were opened to the beautiful world around me. I'll never forget how I began to walk around seeing the beauty of the natural world around us. This was my spiritual awaking that has sustained me the rest of my life. I sing this hymn with more vigor than I do any other hymn for that reason. I should explain that Mom grew up where their church had been closed by the Communists, and so the only instruction in Christianity that she got was from her parents.
I'm 56 years old and every time I sing this or hear it, I am transported back to the Mennonite vacation Bible School times of my childhood. We would have a week of VBS, it was always in the morning; I believe it started at 9:00 a.m. and one of the first things we would do is the teacher would take our class outside around to the shady side of the white stone church building and we would stand there and sing songs from the little printed song books they had made for us. This was probably my very favorite one! I can still smell the freshly mowed grass of the dewey green lawn, the sweet fresh morning air, all the beautiful children's voices singing, and I can still taste the fresh baked homemade cookies that the Mennonite ladies would make for us! Wonderful memories! 🌳⛪🪻✝️
The Lord told me to listen to it because much evil is a foot here in America. All they think they can do against us it is dust beneath My Father's feet. They will return back to the earth but we will rise up to be in My Father's Kingdom for all eternity.
I grew up singing this hymn in church where my grandmother played the piano. My elderly mother will often text me in the mornings with “this is my Fathers world.” It’s very special to me. Very comforting.
Brilliant. Today is 6. 11. 2024. We are in praise, but had prepared our hearts for this truth even if the election had gone differently. Being Brit, I had never heard this song before. I do believe that His return is not long now.
I needed that today. A great and refreshing reminder that God is on the throne and still in charge. Been feeling sad about America. We are on the fast-track to destruction.
I remember this song. I'm now 73, but I remember this song when I was about six or seven at a family camp called Green acres. We would have our church services outside in the woods, with half sword off logs to sit on. I remember looking up at the sky and seeing the sun filtered through the pine trees, the aroma of pine cones, as we walked on a carpet of pine needles it was so quiet (I'm from NYC). We heard the birds, insects and all the noises that nature makes while we sang this song. We also sang, For the beauty of the earth for the glory of the sky (I may have gotten the title wrong, but the words are in the song) then we had our church service. It was the most beautiful time in my life, it really cemented me to God.
One day in September 2024, suddenly the third verse of this hymn struck me and comforted me - no matter how chaotic our world is now, our Lord God Almighty, The Great Creator is still in control. I need not to be sad, because the evil one shall never win over.
It's a hymn i love.....I always feel so special when i think that this is after all MY FATHER'S world....I love singing this......and yes, "He speaks to me everywhere"....but my favourite lines are...."O let me ne'er forget, that though the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the ruler yet"....puts every thing in perspective... . Thank you....from India.
Thank you for the story behind this beautiful old hymn. I am 70 years old and remember it being sung in church since I was a young child. What comfort and joy it is to my heart to know that Jesus is ruling over all, that every square inch is His!!
We sang this song when we were children at Sunday School in the 60's. Both Chinese and English..... How blessed we are to our Heavenly Father and also my earthly father who passed away 34 years ago.
In 2001, we began going to church in Phoenix. Christ was precious in my young daughter’s hearts 5 and 3. They joined the choir and began singing by heart classic hymns with multiple verses. ❤🙏🏼
Thank you for sharing these wonderful hymns. I am 73 years old and well remember virtually all of these old hymns from my childhood that you have been sharing . Remembrances of Church camps and church services in the 1950’s and 60’s. It saddens me that these songs are largely no longer sung as newer contemporary devotion songs have replaced hymn books for projection technology. Most of the newer hymns Just don’t bring me the same emotion and edification as those old hymns. I especially enjoy your delving into the writers stories of who wrote the hymns. Your work is a soothing balm to me. Thank you.
This song entered my recollection tonight and I just learned how unfortunately his death was. A very simple melody, but extremely catchy. I always thought this was a German, or Anglican song, but it was a New Yorker. It was a very different world back in 1900. Rest in peace Babcock sir!
I came to know Jesus as my Savior at a young age. I was being convicted by sermons, things in my life and this Hymn in particular after hearing it presented as a solo one Sunday night. That night I couldn't get the song out of my head. As I was in bed, looking out my window I asked Jesus to save my soul. Since that time I have waxed and waned in closeness to God but never denied Him. As my days grow shorter here on my Father's world I still think of, and sing to myself this Hymn often striving to grow closer and learn more about his wonderful creations.
I am 73 and learned this hymn (4 verses) at summer camp in my 10th summer. My dad who was song leader at our church would choose it for the evening sing-along. Thank you for the history and expanded version! Passing it along to my sibs. Glory to God in all things!
Appreciate Luke that you Did /do all verses Of these lovely Songs written so long Ago I sing Humm This beautiful song Most mornings The moment I hear The birds Now you gave All verses thank you Blessings Prayers My bodies many Diverse diseases Tire me So His poem Be Strong Needed
I woke up this morning with this song in my thoughts. I remember this song from my childhood, but I wasn't sure I remembered all the words. Thanks for this video.
Thank you. I grew up singing this hymn in the United Church of Christ and it has always remained my favorite. I believe it spoke to me because though I often question our existence and purpose, I always feel closest to our creator and at peace in the beauty and magnificence of nature. It’s comforting. Enjoyed learning the origin of this special hymn.
I grew up singing in a Church that worshipped without instructions music. Remember how I sang this song with instruments in a church I was visiting. I love the melody. It’s very beautiful. The lyrics are very beautiful even without the instruments. it has a special place in my heart and mine a beautiful song. Thank you for the history of the author.
Beautiful worship. I learned this hymn a few decades ago and love it. Although we live in an unstable world, God does not change, and that is a comforting thought. We can always depend on our Great and Faithful God. Amen.
I also didn't know this song. I first heard it back in Sept 2000 at the birth of my daighter when my sister gifted me the Praise Baby DVD. This is one of the songs on that. And when my daughter was young, she sang this beautifully along. She is unfortunately not on this path of faith anymore. A mom never seize praying, hoping she will one day soon sing this song again
We used to sing this in the small church I grew up in. It was a favorite and led me down a path of learning about the "music of the spheres", Johannes Kepler, and the physics found in music. I still sing it often in my head.
I learned this beautiful hymn in children’s church and loved it. We sang verses 2, 3, 5, 14, 15, 16. I often hum or sing it as go through my day. Thank you!
Brant Adams a composer who wrote instrumental music of worship combines these two hymns. This is my Father's World/He's got the whole world in his hands.
We sang this song in church a couple of weeks ago. It is probably not sung in churches today in Australia as much as it used to be but we still sing it from time to time & it often comes to my mind when looking out at the world around me. (bush)

This was one of our favourite Bible summer camp songs and we would run through the meadows singing this. Fond memories…thanks for bringing this to our attention,
I went to a Quaker (Friends) school between kindergarten and second grade. I remember learning this hymn in music class in first grade (not all the verses, obviously!). I have always loved this hymn and still enjoy singing it as part of my personal devotions.
I learned this hymn for children's choir when I was in first grade--well, the familiar stanzas of it anyway. It's still one of my favorites nearly 60 years later, and speaks hope to the condition of our world today. Love the tune too. I hope to have this sung (eventually) at my funeral, if Jesus has not come back by then!
Good morning Luke, what a beautiful poem/hymn....never sung this ever! But Oh how I have loved listening to you go thru verse for verse. These are truly great words of faith and hope. Thank you Luke, God bless you.
Luke, this hymn has resurfaced for me in the past few days and has helped me during some growth in my faith through teachings of the Holy Spirit. A friend sent a link to me yesterday and in God’s timing and grace, I watched your video today. I did know and sing this song in church when I was a child, probably when I was in the 3rd grade c.1963. I hone in on this date because it was when I first chose Jesus as my Savior. He had chosen me long before that. 😊✝️ Your channel is a blessing and I will be checking out your other channels. Lord Jesus, please continue to use Luke in his ministry for you. Bless him as he blesses those of us that listen to his work. In your precious name, the holy name of our Lord, Savior, and reigning King. Amen.
I used to sing this with others at Bible Camp back in the 60s as well. I can still see the trees flanked on either side of the meadow we ran through. Truly a natural cathedral.
Years ago in my High School choir, our beloved director had us learn and perform this song. We did not sing the whole song, so I never realized there was more to it. I thought of the song this am while looking outside, so searched wondering if it was to be found!! What a wonderful treasure!! Thank you for the history of the man who wrote it and the meaning of the lyrics!!! Glory to GOD
Thank you! This is my favorite hymn since a child. I find great hope in it and sing it often -especially the third verse. God is never shaking on His Throne at what’s happening in His World. He’s seeing His Plan being fulfilled since the foundation of the world. This is my faith - in the character of God.
This has blessed me so much just when I needed it most! Thank you so much! Thank you for using your talents for Jesus to bless us! I enjoy every one of your videos! You have such a gift and I know that God has brought you to my attention!
Yes i know this hymn well. It fills me with joy as i look at the beauty and wonders of the mountains, lakes, streams and sparrows, who he has his eye on, rain drops, rainbow bows, clouds , sunrise, sunset This world he created and then created mankind and gave it to us. Then he gave us His son.
This is one of my all-time time favorite hymns. The lyrics are so powerful. It makes me feel as if I've been at a complete worship service. My mom also loved this song, and it has become even more special to me since she's passed. I love all of your videos, Luke. Keep being a light. ☀️❤
Thank you for such a wonderful explanation. This has always been one of my favorites and now I look at it with a deeper appreciation. It completed my Thanksgiving day worship at home.
Another note, my favorite presentation of this is in a medley I suppose. Selah: For the Beauty of the Earth/This is My Father's World...a powerful presentation
Many of the hymns you have played have long been firm favourites of mine. This one I am unfamiliar with, I have a vague memory of hearing it once years ago. Thank you for playing all the verses.
My mum. For all the trauma in her and the family somehow this song she brought forth in her lifetime this song and my soul attached to it as a promise of hope...I was always a nature's girl hearing those sermons in stones (and not a crazy evangle). This morning I sang the first few lines...they had not heard of it. This song would do well resurrected at a time our planet is calling for our assistance.
It's one of my favorites, though you're right, seldom sung in church. I especially like the verse that begins "This is my Father's world, O let me ne'er forget..." Thanks for all 16 verses, I had never seen most of them before! Mirth? Why not? God laughs with me sometimes...
This was a hymn often rendered by the robed choir (aka The English Choir) at my local Baptist Church (in the Cameroon's). I guess back in the day, the mass congregation couldn't muster the skill of doing justice to such a complex, yet power hymn! However, these excellent choristers always offered a thrilling rendition of this song on special events such as: Fathers Day, Child Dedications, and Baptisms. Listening to it gave me goosepimples back then, and even now! Pastor Luke: Your notes on the piano today, are simply an act of genius... queuing so seamlessly the melody and message of this beautiful hymn onto every attentive heart...
This hymn always brings back fond memories of singing it over numerous times in junior high chorus, while the instructor listened closely to each of us to determine what part we should sing. That was when I grew to love and appreciate this beautiful hymn!
Yes, it's richer when considering the song in it scope. So oft😅en we carve up a song without considering the harm it may do to the song's message. I don't remember where I first heard this song but it was a very long time ago. I quite like the few verses in our song book. Thanks for sharing the entire hymn.
Have heard the song, I can't remember whether we ever sang this in church. How wonderful that we can always remember that; This is my Father's world. When I look at the birds singing and flying around I know that this is my Father's world. God bless you for sharing such beautiful hymns with us.
Wow. I just sand this song Sunday,at church. I jas no clue about the rest of the verses! The verses I had it reminded me of The Lord's Sovereignty. Essential to remember in the forefront of my mind.
This great & Beautiful song,we sang often in church, since childhood, but never did grasp the real meaning of its words,- still so powerful,Giving the Father, all the Glory, Praise be to Him, Godbless
The comment he said about walking fits me just right! I love walking and seeing nature about me. Indeed, "This is My Father's World!" Thank you for this uplifting knowledge. ❤DJ
I enjoy your site and impart it into my Sabbath Saturday worship and praise to God. This song is so imperative at this time given what we all are experiencing in America and the world. What gracious reminder, This is MY FATHER'S WORLD. God bless you for all you do. I hope you don't mind I am sharing your site on Twitter every Sabbath Saturday. God's love and blessings to you always. Amen.
One of my absolute favorites. Many years ago I used to sit on my front porch and sing this to my baby as I rocked her.
Precious!
Thank you so much Luke for sharing the history of this beautiful hymn. Each summer, my father would take us to a new beautiful destination, usually at our nation’s national parks. I was 13 when i learned this song at church camp...we would sing it every night around the camp fire...it is one of my favorite hymns...

Canada here I’m 68 and I clearly remember singing that song in Grade 3 PUBLIC school!
Imagine!
I loved to and never forgot it

As a young woman at a girls camp and we sang it at night around the campfire before turning into our tents
Thank you for the education 😊

Beautiful hymn‼️Never heard of it until I became a Christian; and indeed the hymn is beautiful😍
This is my Father’s world
And though life is sometimes grim
God’s man will show a video
About this wondrous old hymn

I am 73 years old and well remember virtually all of these old hymns from my childhood that you have been sharing . Remembrances of Church camps and church services in the 1950’s and 60’s.
It saddens me that these songs are largely no longer sung as newer contemporary devotion songs have replaced hymn books for projection technology. Most of the newer hymns
Just don’t bring me the same emotion and edification as those old hymns.
Thanks!
So grateful for this, thank you!

One of my very favorites. Grew up singing this as a child in a tiny country Methodist church.
Thanks Mom for taking us to church.

Came here after hearing chosen season 5 trailer. Never heard this before but now I am hooked. Praise God 🙏
We used to sing this in the small church I grew up in. It was a favorite and led me down a path of learning about the "music of the spheres", Johannes Kepler, and the physics found in music. I still sing it often in my head.
AWESOME THOUGHT THE HEAVENS PRAISE OUR HEAVENLY FATHER'S BEAUTIES I HIS CREATING WONDERS!!.❤😂❤

Remember singing at summer camp, and in church. I am greatly moved by this song.❤
I went to a Quaker (Friends) school between kindergarten and second grade. I remember learning this hymn in music class in first grade (not all the verses, obviously!). I have always loved this hymn and still enjoy singing it as part of my personal devotions.
Thank you Pastor Luke! Though the Heavens Shake with mega quakes: What have I to fear? Awake or asleep in slumber deep, my Father's World is Here!
I learned this hymn for children's choir when I was in first grade--well, the familiar stanzas of it anyway. This story is so touching and this reminded me of my childhood memories. My father died at 33 years old. Thank you for sharing brother.
I didn't know all the verses. What a beautiful hymn!
VERY GREATFUL FOR SUCH BEAUTIFUL SONGS OF ETERNAL LOVE AND HOPE!!❤😂❤
Thank you! This is my favorite hymn since a child. I find great hope in it and sing it often -especially the third verse. God is never shaking on His Throne at what’s happening in His World. He’s seeing His Plan being fulfilled since the foundation of the world. This is my faith - in the character of God.
The 3rd verse as in my EUB hymnal as I learned it is what I mean - “He is the Ruler yet!”
This has blessed me so much just when I needed it most! Thank you so much! Thank you for using your talents for Jesus to bless us! I enjoy every one of your videos! You have such a gift and I know that God has brought you to my attention!
The Lord prosper your ministry in Jesus name tsaliach
Nicely sung. I first heard this sung by George Beverly Shea. 🤍
Yes i know this hymn well. It fills me with joy as i look at the beauty and wonders of the mountains, lakes, streams and sparrows, who he has his eye on, rain drops, rainbow bows, clouds , sunrise, sunset
This world he created and then created mankind and gave it to us.
I absolutely love this wonderful hymn. The recording by Glad does great credit to it. You'll find it on RUclips it this might be of interest.
The first hymn I remember.

Many of the hymns you have played have long been firm favourites of mine. This one I am unfamiliar with, I have a vague memory of hearing it once years ago. Thank you for playing all the verses.
I love these videos. Thank you for making them.
My favourest hymn! Cant wait!
Thank u Luke.. ur voice is so soothing ...well explained..blessed
Sang this often as a chorister at St George’s Hyderabad, India in the late 60s and early 70s. Thank you.
Have heard the song, I can't remember whether we ever sang this in church. How wonderful that we can always remember that; This is my Father's world. When I look at the birds singing and flying around I know that this is my Father's world. God bless you for sharing such beautiful hymns with us.
I do like this hymn😊 You can use it another year for Ascension Day!
Thank you, thank you Luke for picking up this hymn. My favourite hymn. Oh I cannot wait to see my Lord in heaven.

Wow. I just sand this song Sunday,at church. I jas no clue about the rest of the verses! The verses I had it reminded me of The Lord's Sovereignty. Essential to remember in the forefront of my mind.
This great & Beautiful song,we sang often in church, since childhood, but never did grasp the real meaning of its words,- still so powerful,Giving the Father, all the Glory,
Praise be to Him,

The first time I heard this hymn was on a Mennonite church CD. I love this hymn.
