i have the exact same thought: i wish they released something wider, like a 18mm f/2.0. thanks for reviewing the lens for us. bought my copy of the XF27mm mk.2 just two weeks ago for US$ 220 second hand but in brand new condition. didn't come with the cute lens hood and lens hood cap since it was a kit with the X-E4. i was starting to regret buying it impulsively when i read about the TtArtisan 27mm. good to know i made a good decision. lol i have to shell out another $20 for the lens hood though and have yet to find the lens hood cap as its out of stock everywhere i looked.
@@jccarriedo309 the 18 f2 was one of the worst fuji lens optically. With wide angles you simply can't cut corners in a small compact form. There's a reason the best wide angles are gigantic.
Yes please. At around $150 US ? Great way to get a share of the market from those on tight budgets desiring an auto-focus lens regardless of the particulars. I expect it to be a perfectly capable lens for casual, fair weather shooting. Can't wait to get one.
How Fuji thought the autofocus noise on the 27mm f/2.8 was even remotely acceptable is mind blowing. I returned it immediately as I couldn't deal with it.
As a long time owner of the original XF 27mm, I see no reason to upgrade to either the new Fuji WR model or this TTArtisan one. Though perhaps it may be a good match for my X-T1 as it looks like it's a bit bigger and heavier than the XF 27mm which looks and feels ridiculous on that camera, but not on my X-E3 or X-T20. However, it is welcome to see new lenses for the XF mount, and if I were not in possession of this focal length already I would be very keen on the TTArtisan one at this price point. As someone else has pointed out it would have been nice if the new lens was a f1.8/2. This would have made it a bit bigger, but would have also made it potentially more versatile than the Fuji model and would likely still be much cheaper. The bigger crime IMO was Fuji just rehashing their old lens. News of an upcoming TTARtisan 32mm pancake is very interesting. I have been very pleased with my recent 50mm and 25mm MF f2 lenses from them. They are not optically perfect, but I don't care, as their minor faults only add to the character of B&W images which is what I mostly shoot on my Fuji X-E3 and X-T20.
Good review, thanks. Subscribed. I will stick with my Fuji 27 too. Hopefully TT do a wider lens and release the 27 for Sony E where there is a gap in the market.
@@FujiRumorsOfficial you can then re-flash the firmware are using a Windows machine and recover the lens so it’s usable again at least I was able to. I don’t know if maybe I just got lucky.
... I'm baffled why they even bother releasing similar spec to Fuji's. Mark I is probably at same price point (used). At least, release something different, like F2/F1.8
Worth it alone just for the quieter autofocus noise. What was Fuji thinking?
It’s the same motor as version one - fuji didn’t update anything about the lens for version two except the WR and an aperture ring.
Yep, Fuji was lazy when they made the WR R 27mm.
CAF might be much better on the TT.
Does this one come with Weather resistance? If not I guess Fuji is your only option
I guess that matters if you shoot video. Personally I don't care at all.
Fujifilm uses tamiya dynamo
I bought a TTArtisans version a couple of weeks ago and so far I am pleased with it. Thanks for the review.
Thanks and liked hearing your children at the end. Hope your all well now.😊
Ordered mine Friday. Thank you for the details!
A less expensive third party alternative that may not be perfect (but still is good enough for many people ) is a very good thing in my opinion.
Thank you for the video from a fellow X-T4 user. Nice to see more lens options cropping up.
Ordered mine from their official store! Hope they make something wider in the future.
Now that is a usable review! Thanks!
Thanks
Mensch Patrick, du machst ja jetzt sogar richtige Videos! Top! Weiter so.
Thanks for the early impressions video! If you're planning a full review, I would love to see how the video/continuous autofocus compares as well.
Fun fact - someone asked at the official TTArtisan account, *if* the TTA 27/2.8 AF is fine for the 40 MP Sensor generation - TTArtisan said yes.
I think its one of those "yes, yes very gud" types of replies. Been buying from chinese sellers for 9 years, and they lie a lot

I ordered this new lens today, for the price and performance it was a no brainer for me

Nah I think 27mm was the perfect focal length. I just wish it was a wider aperture like at least 2.0
An 18 mm at that size will just end up being distorted. The 27 is just far more versatile anyways, and easier to refine optically at that size.
@@anonymousl5150 doesn't have to be that small. something closer to that of the XF 18mmF2 would be nice or wider if possible.

@@anonymousl5150then they should make it large, as you say. lol i was merely hoping for a wider focal length lens. didn't say is should be pancakish
Thanks for this review. worth the price, ordered!
I call my fuji 27 squeaky, as it makes that much noise.
Good to see AF lens coming out from China, should shake things up a bit.

i wish it was 23mm, not 27mm, but hey. this seems to be a promising start!
Dad, dad! the end was very nice
Was it tested on the XT100 or XT200 which is what the target group actually uses?
That's very surprising release :)

Size and aesthetics wise the Fuji is much much nicer... But is the fuji worth an extra 250 more? Hmm I don't know
That’s Alik Griffin’s problem with the Fujinon 27 and 35mm f2, I believe, he thinks they’re not worth the price Fuji charges for them.
The auto-focus performance is just fine. Give us a break!
Thought you said "Out of Focus lense" XD It took a while but then I got it.
good job ttartisan,cute ending😬
Nice quick review. I like the way you phonetically pronounce autofocus….outofocus
Does the AF work on older xe1?
yes, but you need to update the lens if there is an old firmware
FYI the firmware can only be updated using Windows. If you use macOS it becomes unusable
thanks, did not know that and had not been told that. Bummer

Out of focus lens?
I hate the autofocus noise on both lenses! Why is it so hard for Fuji to make silent lenses
... I'm baffled why they even bother releasing similar spec to Fuji's. Mark I is probably at same price point (used). At least, release something different, like F2/F1.8
nope. This is literally £200 cheaper brand new.
The old 27 one cost £200 in the used market and the WR cost £450+. This one is just £135.
I’m in the market for a used Fuji 27mm mki on EBay tight now and the obviously used ones are going for new prices.
@@Jarg-d6l I don't care whether lens js new or used as long the IQ is good and less hassle to fix.
I'm going to swap my Fuji for the artisans once because of the AF noise, I hate my Fuji because of that

Who the hell needs that speed anyway?

Bigger and no WR. No thanks.
