You know, I actually like the flares this lens produces. It gives the images a dreamy quality, and that makes my travel photos seem nostalgic right out of the camera.
I love the swirl, that’s why I got mine. I hope TTArtisan leans into that, and does more lenses which combine modern AF and convenience with the distinctive look of vintage optical character.
Good video, I reviewed this lens as well. One thing to share with your viewers you can only update the firmware using a Windows computer. If you update with macOS it causes errors and makes the lens unusable.
I bought this lens a few days ago and I'm so impressed. Just buy it.... Focal length is just perfect for everyday photography, interaction with the XT2 is impressive and I have spent 100's of £'s more for fujinon lenses that impressed me less.Take on board the incompatibility with MAC regarding firmware updates but if you have a friend you'll not be be stuck.

the fuji 35mm F2 XC is the same price and too close in focal length and that lens is absoltulty amazing. Ive been waiting for ttartisans to drop an AF lens for fuji but this focal length was imo a bad choice for them. If they did an AF version of their 50mm 1.2 I would have bought it in a heartbeat.
After all mine lastet for 4 days than it died. A very very minor contact ditch in the subway was too much for this lens to survive. I asked the CS if they can check the lens. Nope. Than I looked closer. Yes the pictures were great, but the build quality is all plastic, no wonder that the lens couldn’t survive real world street use. Same day I went to the local dealer and ordered the fuji one…😮
Better to just shield with your hand. It’s a result of lack of coatings on the lens elements, adding more glass to the equation will only really degrade your image quality
@@MattJacobs Yes 40mm or 35 indeed. But i would prefer something wider like this 27mm. Sure there is Sonys's 24mm 2.8 but its pretty expensive. Or the Samyang versions but...this one would be perfect and for 150$ it would be great!
I don’t think it would. Polarizing filters help with reducing reflections on glass, water, leaves and other reflective surfaces. This is more an issue of light bouncing around between the lens elements and causing optical problems when a strong light source is in or just outside of your frame.
Iˋm not a fan of the usb port in the lens cap, because my lens caps switch between my lenses when I change them, so I would always have to search for the right cap. I prefer the way Viltrox handles this with the port on the lens itself.
This was a front runner because I can't find a new Fuji 27mm anywhere, but those flare textures and the "drunk" bokeh swirl are horrible to me. Still, very early doors for the manufacturer and liking that they're able to still do an overall great job for a low budget.
I bought the xt3 and forgot I had no money so I had to use of my savings😒I need a pancake lens that's not $300... we'll just say that the flare and swirl give it more flavor 😁🌶️
I recently bought a fuji XCF 35 mm lens and I really like it, would it be foolish to buy this lens too? I just wanna know if it’s way too similar to justify buying another lens (Love the limited edition color way they guy so much 😭)
I've got it. I see no reason why anyone who has a Fujifilm body should not have one. At considerably less than half the price of the Fujifilm lens, it does not have to be better. It's not better, but it is really close to the Fujifilm lens.

to me this is bad, it makes me dizzy
Thanks for posting this video. looking forward to trying this on my fuji xpro3!
Just bought the lens due tomorrow in the post for my X-T 30 thanks for your review
Subscribed! I enjoy contents like this, thanks!
Thanks for this! Mine shows up in a couple of days!
Nice little lens, great review. I really want to try it 📷
Haha really enjoyed the fun bad lighting AF test 😄 Thanks for the review!
Glad you liked it, haha!

Great video!
Love mine, it's attached to my X-M1 most of the time.

I love the look this lens gives over my fuji lenses
looks cool for the price, i have a nice 35mm 1.8 sony, this might be better than my kit lens in some cases.
Great review, I’m gonna try this lens with an X-E2 for casual photography. Looks like a good fit.

More Fuji budget/value lens vids pls!
awesome lens... excellent on fuji xt4
thanks bro
Hi. I’m kinda curious whether the Ttartisan 27mm f2.8 is a micro four third compatible lens? Does anyone have the answer to this qn
Mine has terrible autofocus, which sometimes randomly stops working and even stops my camera buttons from working!

The included lens hood looks rubbish but would a third party lens hood help with flaring, loss of contrast?
I have this lens for a few weeks now, love it!
It’s a pretty good little thing, it honestly surprised me
Were u able to update firmware?
You're a really good dancer! 😄
Hahaha
I just got one
A bit of a Helios swirl there eh?

It needs to be noted that the lens cannot be updated on a Mac - only Windows.
Are their filters that reduce the glare issue? My lens is currently under the tree… I’m looking forward to walking around with it

There should be a fullframe variant of this lens😍
You’re in luck, as I believe there are many 40mm f/2.8 pancake lenses for almost every full frame system
@@MattJacobs Yes 40mm or 35 indeed. But i would prefer something wider like this 27mm. Sure there is Sonys's 24mm 2.8 but its pretty expensive. Or the Samyang versions but...this one would be perfect and for 150$ it would be great!
If I can get used non wr fujinon and this at the same price, which one should I get and why
Idk why you wouldn’t get the fuji. It’s a first party lens and the ttart isn’t wr either
I'm new to photography but for the issue with sun glare would a polarising filter help deal with that
I don’t think it would. Polarizing filters help with reducing reflections on glass, water, leaves and other reflective surfaces. This is more an issue of light bouncing around between the lens elements and causing optical problems when a strong light source is in or just outside of your frame.
39mm lens hoods are available for 7 bucks...
Seems like they are heading to viltrox’s af direction.
It’s actually pretty good especially for their first AF lens
Iˋm not a fan of the usb port in the lens cap, because my lens caps switch between my lenses when I change them, so I would always have to search for the right cap. I prefer the way Viltrox handles this with the port on the lens itself.
Both have their pros and cons
Why not put it aside and only use it for a firmware update? A replacement lens cap costs only a few €$.
@@ruhri0411 Probably the safest idea to prevent yourself from loosing the lens cap

Same here when it comes to finding the fuji 27mm. They have become collector items. Looking at this as an alternative
Am I crazy to use this on a full frame Sony like A7R2
As far as I know the image circle wouldn’t be big enough, you’d have to crop to APSC anyway
I recently bought a fuji XCF 35 mm lens and I really like it, would it be foolish to buy this lens too? I just wanna know if it’s way too similar to justify buying another lens
(Love the limited edition color way they guy so much 😭)
I would get a different focal length if getting another lens if i were you it would be like having two essentially identical lenses
@@MattJacobsI appreciate the reply, you saved my wallet !

Was it tested on the XT100 or XT200 which is what the target group actually uses?
I mean I don’t own one… so no. I should just buy any camera someone might use to review lenses on? Don’t get that logic
If you look at the TTartisan version and the Fuji version, you will realize that they are the same exact lens. So, Matt didn't do his homework.
I’ve owned them both, they’re definitely not the same lens
Focus breathing is pretty obvious from your video
So negative 😂
