You have an interesting channel, can't so that for everyone but welding on a pipeline crew I find interesting . We all own a great deal to crews like yours. Without welders, our world would fall apart literally. Great video and be safe.
I love all your videos, I watch them an how the procedures are, an how the job goes, I'm just a boilermaker but I have a rig and I know how to weld down hand, but I can't get my foot in the door Dx
okee thnx man. yes I'm sorry its dutch ! ik werk momenteel bij kuijpers piping. wij doen ook gasleiding etc maar meestal tot 4" 5" ook wel ooit grotere diameters. maar het lijkt me echt super mooi om in de pijplijn te werken. ben ook zeker geintereseert en wil graag leren.
I was looking to join the 597 pipefitters but i come from a completely different field...my buddy has been with them for over 6 years and he said he would put in a good word for me..i was wondering if a person with no experience what so ever would have a chance of getting in. He is also teaching me how to weld once a week by the way
yeah i have had good luck with them and not the greatest luck with the incolns but im willing to try any welder. are you certified in AWS B2.1 6G im guessing you are how did you go about doing this, and also what school did you go to? sorry for all the questions just trying to get in the industry.
hello beautiful video, here in Brazil we use the electrode penetration and cabamentamos root weld with FCAW and al eletroldo which was used for and how fzazem, thermal protection since it was cold there good luck and congratulations by video
hey bud i'm thinking of trying to break into pipeline this winter and was wondering if you could give a newbie a few tips and tricks about working on the line. I've done alot of position pipe with uphill 6010 roots and obviously theres some different methods to your mayhem. what's your average amperage per pass and why do you guys whip your fills and caps so much? I appreciate any help you can offer
ZAZAZEL, are you in any of these videos? are these welds x-rayed? and what is the weld tolerances (such as slag, and incomplete penetration?) do you have to regrind out the root?
You almost always grind your root down almost completely flat to bring out any discontinuitys and avoid slag entrapment to insure a good fully penetrated hot pass.
What the average pay ? How often can you work ? Does you r local provide medical if you work a set amount of time? Can you do a video about pipe line welding life and pay ? Thanks Great Vids
Just curious questions: I see most of the welders using a rapid forth-back motion on the stinger, in a way I have not seen in any other stick-welding-scenario before. Is that a way to get tactile feedback from the grove to position the electrode? And BTW nobody seems to use Auto-darkening Helmets. Too uncool in the trade? TIA, /Luis
Auto darkening lenses are great. They can be a little finicky using them outdoors. I use the speed glass with the papr. I’m a shop guy though 20 yrs in the field was enough for me. I am a house at now.
For the root pass....bury the rod in the gap and move ..."slide and glide".......Hot pass is gouge, gouge, gouge and move fast........Fill pass is tight arc and slight manipulation and some slight whipping on the bottom.....cap pass is a relatively tight arc and a slight weave to catch the edges of the bevel and some controlled whip and pause on the bottom........a dime wide and a dime high.....Cheers
yea i know a company here in the netherlands named A HAK. they are also in the pipeline industry. so I'm just gonna send an email and hopefully they will respond.
I'm looking forward to find an opportunity to help 'n' learn welding on the go, if it is all possible to happen somewhere in one of the States. If someone got the means to help I'll certainly appreciate it. By the way very cool video! Keep the videos coming! Thanks!!!

6010 5/32 root - 6010 3/16 out? 12 in pipe? Sry just getting an idea
Do they just drag the rod or use the whip and pause method?
For the root pass....bury the rod in the gap and move ..."slide and glide".......Hot pass is gouge, gouge, gouge and move fast........Fill pass is tight arc and slight manipulation and some slight whipping on the bottom.....cap pass is a relatively tight arc and a slight weave to catch the edges of the bevel and some controlled whip and pause on the bottom........a dime wide and a dime high.....Cheers
Why do the welders have those cuts on the sides of their hoods?
to be in mainland pipe welding do you have to have your pressured pipe license or no ?
Haha really bro ?

buffing that pipe while in a lift is considered working under a suspended load. i almost got ran off for that. i wish we could do shit like that
on the right
Please do.
👍😍
if a welder knows what the hell he is doing good tie in on the toe of the weld
then it should pass x-ray down-hand on sch.120 pipe with 3/16 7010
yeah sorry about that, i told him that i work for A-Hak and others..so if he needs a ride.. anyway spoke to him already..
I got ya bud
u welded that up pretty fast is what hes saying.
I see we never have them and when you go to set your self they get very pissy about it.
@ Gemert freak, ik werk oa voor hak, en diverse andere. als je de leiding bouw in wilt, stuur me dan een bericht, mischien kan ik je helpen..

Did they even teach you about WPS's in school? Sounds like you wasted your money or tax payer money...
