Thank you! I have been deliberating this choice for months! I love my Bont hybrid carbons and I think the Parkstars will be perfect! On a falcon plate they'll weigh almost nothing.
Ok, I see I'm probably getting some answers here that I asked on y'alls other post. I think definitely going to go with a Bont boot. I like the style of them and I'm looking for something like a jam skate that is durable, light weight, agile, form fitting but comfy.
I'm between a size 42/43 and in the bont sizes, I'm a 41. In US I wear a 9.5 -10 in mens shoes. Bont boots will be a smaller size than what you're used to wearing normally. I hope this helps someone. Also I'm so glad she mentioned the heel inside of the parkstar! It's there, it's just small and hidden.
Thanks so much - very helpful, and confirms that the ParkStar are the right skates for me. I will also be transitioning from VNLA Jnr skates - it would be helpful to know, for comparison, what size you are in those. My biggest concern is not being able to try the ParkStar first for size (I'll use their size measuring chart and hope for the best). Thanks again and have an awesome skate day :)
Hi Jaz, I love your videos!! Very detailed and informative. 😄 Which wheels are you using with the Bonts? I was thinking of buying the Moxi Jackboot but now i'm not so sure, since I have big wide feet and now i'm considering the Bont Parkstars. Also, can you recommend any other comfortable/durable good quality boots as well? Thanks
Thank you! For outdoors i am using Radar energy which are the wheels shown in this video, for park Moxi Fundaes, on my rink skates Juice Java. I also have wide feet and felt comfy in the Moxi boots after breaking them in. The Bonts do have a wider toe box, but for either boot if you follow the measuring instructions you will get a good fit. Riedell makes lots of good boots you might also want to check out!😁
@@KevJaz Thank you for the info and advice! I found the Riedell Celebrity 120 boot, and it seems to be for wide feet as well, hope they are comfy after breaking them in.
Are you Moxi Jack boots in the color Jade? I’m trying to see more “real life” images/videos rather than their stock images/videos of their color options while I consider purchasing them. Also: Do you think the ParkStar ankle support will also break down over time as much as the Jack boots? I need as much ankle support as I can get.
@@KevJaz thank you so much for the response! I’ve been having plantar fasciitis pain on top of my hEDS joint weakness so I’m now heavily considering the Bont Parkstars as they’re far more flat. It’s hard to figure this stuff out when there are no open local skate shops
You're welcome! We love our Parkstars but they are a very hard boot so we put quality athletic insoles in them and i also stuff lambswool down in the toe for more padding and comfort 🤗
Do you want a snug fit or a fit ikes a shoe? I can fit 4.5 and 5 but in 4 5 my big toe just barely touches. I'd want to put a new insole in but will that take uo space? I'm torn on sizing
You want a fit like an athletic shoe with a bit of room in the toe, especially if you want to upgrade to a better/thicker insole (which is recommended!)
@@KevJaz great! What insoles do you like? I got some yoga mat material ones inside for now. Traced the stock one then cut the yoga one. Have yet to try rollin but feels good on foot.
Hey Kev and Jaz! I know this is an older vid so hopefully you still see this. I just got my Parkstars set up with some discoblox like the ones you showed us here. To me, my discoblox look really close to the ground and i'm worried it might trip me up or affect my ability to try 50/50's. Have you ever had any issues with your Parkstar set up like this? If you still have this setup, could you tell me how close your blox are to the ground? From the highest, middle point of the blox to the ground is only about 10mm and only about 4-5 mm at the lowest, front and rear end of the blox to the ground. Sorry for the paragraph lol
Yes i still have this set up and at the mid point the blox are about half an inch from the ground and at the lowest point at each end they are about a quarter inch from the ground so it sounds similar to yours! I have not had any problems with them😆
Hi Kev and Jaz! Really helpful video! But, I have a question for you guys regarding the parkstars. Little background: I'm a former rollerblader, and interested in getting back into skating, but instead on roller skates (so I can learn something new!) I'm interested in learning all the fun dance-y tricks and definitely getting into some park skating with them, too. After a lot of research (including this video) I'm leaning toward the parkstars because of all the good things I've read about them (ankle support but also lightweight) But, my question is: how versatile are they for different kinds of skating? I have concerns that they will be more like roller blades than roller skates, if that makes sense? Because I mostly hear about how they do well for park skating-- so I know I've got that covered. However, I worry about the stiffness for anything more artistic/dance-y? Would you say that they are too stiff to do non-park artistic skating? My only reference point for what skates feel like is the really hard, "locked in" feeling of roller blades-- and I'm not entirely sure if that's something I want/ should or shouldn't be looking for. Are these closer to the feeling of roller blades, or something in between? Or, is there some room to break them in a little more to be a little less rigid and flowy? Sorry for long question. Thanks for any advice you are able to give! :)
Thanks! We love our Parkstars and think you will too, they are definitely not as hard as rollerblades and we do basic dancing in them too with no problem! They are stiff boots but you can always loosen the laces or unlace them a bit if you want more ankle mobility🤗 also they mold to your feet with heat so are very comfortable once broken in!
I heard people like suede boots for park skating because they hold up to the stress better. However it seems like this vegan boot was specifically designed for park skating so potentially is more reinforced than a typical vegan boot. Can you speak to that?
Yes, suede does hold up well, i bailed tons on my Moxi Jacks and they never ripped apart on me! But they have gotten a lot softer over time. The vegan Bont Parkstars have a fake suede outer and underneath a hard fiberglass shell so they feel even more tough to me, the construction is made to not soften over time like suede. Moxi also makes a vegan Jack but i have not tried it🤗
Vegan “leather” is just plastic and vegan “suede” that’s going to get scuffed up like that is going to out hella micro plastics in the ocean. Until they make pineapple or mushroom leather I’ll stick with suede and leather that my friends hunted and scraped for beadwork and suede for skates. Did you know that if we didn’t tan and use the hides left over from the meat industry, the disposal and decomp of the hides would put note methane and cadaverine into the atmosphere than the tanning process does and it will eventually decompose. The “vegan” suede will just scuff away until it needs replacement and ends up in a landfill leaching chemicals into the ground. I don’t hate vegans, I just hate the hypocrisy of “vegan” leather. It’s plastic.
I'm two years too late for this answer lol, but Bont formulates their own resin that is anti-stretch until it reaches a certain temperature. They will never stretch, never "break in" the way the suede of other boots will. You instead heat-mold them to fit your feet and in theory, that shape will be static until the next molding process. The outer material is just for covering this resin, not for structure
Where did u find the discoblox? I can’t find them anywhere in the us? Thanks for the video. I too am switching from jacks to parkstars mainly for weight reasons.
Can is see the bottom of your Jack? I have a new plate and new Jack boot I’m building it myself. I wanted to check out your placement of plate... please 💗
Thanks! Boot to plate sizing depends on make of each, for example my Jack boots are size 6.5 and my Bont Parkstars are size 5.5 but both fit perfectly on my plates which are Reactor Neo size 6, have not yet tried Bont plates but they size differently. Usually the makers will have some sort of sizing chart or measurements on their websites to figure out boot to plate sizing, or a way to contact for questions if there is a doubt🤗
I’d really like to know whether you found much difference in the width of the boots. I have heard that park stars are wide, and they look very wide, and that the heat moulding is limited. I have really narrow feet that so far have only been comfortable in the Moxi Lolly, however I dislike the heal. I would prefer the Bont, but if they are too wide, they will be no good. I have no choice but to buy online, and returns policies have become less liberal since I went through the torture of buying and returning several brands of skates before getting my Lollys.
Yes, Parkstars feel wider than Moxis and it's good for me, but used to skate Antiks and they felt similar to Moxis without high heels so maybe you would like them
@@CO-iz7wp Antiks are softer than Parkstars or Moxi Jack, have not skated Lolly but hear they are softer too, also Antiks lace all the way to the toe which allows for more adjustment
