    This is a glass dip pen I've used in a previous video, and I liked it just as much then. You can get these for pretty cheap on amazon or other pen websites, but I got this one from here: firespider.glass/
    Pretty cool handmade stuff. But like I said, I really do like the way these feel, it's just a bit of a bummer I would never really feel safe taking these with me to school or anything, but then again dip pens aren't really the definition of practical after things like fountain pens and ballpoint pens got invented. Maybe I can get a nice rigid and safe carrying case for some glass pens.

      @SuperMich66 it's just a harmless joke - although I imagine that trying to take notes with a dip-pen would be much slower than a fountain pen by virtue of having to re-dip. Depending on the speed the class moves at this could be an issue.

    What do I like about art? I like taking something that exists and rendering it with paint (acrylics or watercolors) in a way that reflects not only what I'm seeing, but my personality and how I felt about the subject. I love that a hundred artists could paint the same scene at the same time and when they're done capturing it even if we are using the same medium, tools, and colors none of them will be the same. Not just in skill level but in interpretation. The artist always leaves pieces of themselves on the canvas and that's just remarkable to me.

      C. S. Johnson also this has perspective which he’s always talked about doing and now I’m really starting to see his art take on more perspective

    • @c.s.johnson7691
      @c.s.johnson7691 4 года назад

      @@lilschleem1640 Certinally the use of converging lines gives Peters work the look of perspective, but I'll stop short there and say, that his drawings are taking on a more dimensional look. I look at his work as being flat and what looks like perspective is really just diagonal lines. Where as dimensional takes on the look of larger forground, and smaller background, giving that look of depth without using converging lines. Either way, it's easy to see the influence of his architectural classes, that is working in 3D, and transporting that image onto paper. The fun here is seeing how Peters education is changing the work that we're used to, and it is changing. I can relate that to the lost innocents of my own work, how my education changed everything, and how long it took me to forget my education and get back to creating art for the sake of art.
      I can see that Peter is aware of this as well. The fun is going to come from watching him learn and change and pass those lessons along to his serious viewers. I really hope that he continues to video his work so we can continue to watch his education, and it's influences on his new work.

    since you seemed interested: Every material has some elasticity. Cristaline material has the least, but even there, you have the tiny amount you can pull the atoms in the cristaline grid apart, before their attracting charges dont hold them together any more. A way to demonstrate elastic movement in relatively hard substances is the sound they make, when you hit them. Sounds are vibrations. The glass wouldnt *clink* if it werent elastic.

    Peter, have you ever tried drawing on photo paper? The glossy paper you use to print photos with home printers. I've been drawing on some this week. The ink seems to be absorbed by just the top layer and is very vibrant. Super crisp and fine details too. I'd recommend trying it.

      @@peter_draws it does feel weird though, almost but not quite squeaky, it might be non-satisfying feeling, possibly even irritating, just so you are forewarned :)

    sounds like what youre describing when you drag the pen across the paper is stimming! its common in people with anxiety, adhd, and autism and its a way to soothe oneself or let out energy or curb boredom
    edit: and to answer your question i do art because sometimes the things i want to look at dont exist yet. sometimes i need a visual to keep myself grounded when making a story. sometimes i want to share my thoughts with others through a visual medium. my art brings others joy and so does yours

    Idk why but when I see his face, he just light up my day. Thanks Peter, but I prefer darkness.

    I think for me it's the feeling that maybe, just maybe , this time I will create something pleasing and beautiful and right.
    And how the paper feels and the ink smells and the nib sounds are all important to creating this feeling, but drawing seems to me to be a kind of magic, exciting and terrifying (and sometimes devastatingly disappointing).
    But I keep trying because getting close to that idea that it might just all work and I will make something good is the best feeling I have.
    I would like to see you work on the rough side too :)
