Actually a lot of us fans do listen to stuff like this when we drive. You have to understand; THIS is the music we grew up with. For example; this song is almost 40 years old. Some of us have been listening to this style of music for decades.
A lot of us also drive consistently over the speed limit...* 😅🤣
🤘😈
@@mokane86 Yep.....I was gonna say something VERY similar. Never got popped by the PoPo listening to Metallica.....but I should have (many times😁).
Seek and Destroy make you speed? On the album the next song is Metal Militia. That's way speedier. And it's not even their speediest song.
Back when I was studying I had a fellow student who slept well on Seek and Destroy.
40?! FUCK, I'M OLD.
@@levijones7012 The moment we hear Metallica being piped in through the speakers in a supermarket....THAT'S the moment we can cry for our "lost youth". I can picture "Nothing Else Matters" or any other Metallica Lite songs being played while "on hold" somewhere.
Then again.....if I heard Metallica at the supermarket, that would most definitely ensure that I'd be back!
I have a really stupid story about this song. My BF in high school and I went to see Metallica live in '92. (We were both 16.) Her dad had bought the tickets for her birthday, which turned out to be 20th row on Kirk's side. Best seats I ever had for a concert. It was maybe an hour in, they played this song. 20 minutes later, they're doing "Master of Puppets", this guy in the row ahead of us was drunk, high, everything else, starts screaming the chorus for "Seek & Destroy". A guy a few seats away yelled, "Shut the fuck up, you drunk asshole! They sang that 20 minutes ago!". It became a joke with my and my friend. For ages, we'd start randomly shouting "Seek & Destroy" lyrics over any other song we heard playing and laugh like morons. Ah, those were the days. Times like that, I miss high school.
Bro same deadass me and my brother and sister were there in the 22 row
Great story, I can picture that in my head happening at a Metallica concert for sure. Keep on singing!
@@danlabok7117 I saw them in 2019 with a different friend (one I also knew from high school but am still in touch with). James came out and said, "We're gonna be playing some new shit and some old shit". I looked at her - she knew my story - and went, "Like 'Seek & Destroy'?!". Next second, they rip into the opening guitar riff for S&D and I lost my shit laughing. Sans Kirk's guitar sounding a little off, they still put on a great show. "One" was the most memorable both times tho. They did do some cool "firefly" type light thing, which circled around them onstage when they played "Moth Into Flame". I think the Kansas City show was the only one they used it at, cause the "firefly" tech was local. Or so James said before they started the song.
My buddy and I were at some "random" show back in the 80's (random = not enough surviving brain cells to remember🤣), when some wasted idiot, with total panic, confusion and concern on his face started asking anyone who would listen "Dude! When to the Stones go on?!" (wrong show, moron!).
That became a running joke between us for decades onward. I don't even think it was the same genre of music.
"Drugs are bad, mmmkay?"
@@VadersRage mmm'kay
They really weren't that violent. The only violent person in the band was their first lead guitarist Dave Mustaine (who went off to form Megadeth), whom was kicked out because he would get very abusive and physical when he drank. The rest of the band just got very silly and goofed around a lot. They were never really a drug band as much as they were a beer band. They had a nickname at this time; "Alcoholica". This entire album was essentially recorded while they were drunk teenagers.
In reality, these guys weren't ones to start fights, but rather ones to call out the posers and party.
I managed to snag one of their patches "100% Alcoholica" with the word in the style of their Metallica logo!
Pretty sure James & Larz were on a coke binge when they recorded ..And Justice tho. Jason Newstead was barely a part of the album
The Black Queen speaks Facts!
@@ArtifisticA Didn't Lars have his bass turned right down in the final mix?
@@damienmaynard8892 He did. It sounds like ass. Found this "..And Justice for Jason" on the youtubes a while back. It's the only version I'll listen to now ruclips.net/video/6kqTcLwUYj8/видео.html
I'm predicting the next metallica video will be Welcome Home (sanitarium).
Yessss
Hope so
YEAAAHHH
for the love of god YES PLEASE
Your prediction might be wrong, but it SHOULD be spot on, if everything were right with the world!
I wouldnt think that Metallica would do anything violent toward anyone. Its just the lyrics to the song. They are really cool guys.I met them years ago. They were also very young when this album was made.
Agreed. Metaphors in their lyrics bout how they feel
They stoped violence by kicking out Mustaine, they told in some interviews that Mustaine used to kick the ass of who dared to threat James or Lars.
THIS is where it all began! Kill Em All was their first album and it changed EVERYTHING for underground Metal. It single-handedly popularised Thrash Metal. Listen to the first song off the album Hit The Lights! Imagine being a kid in 1983 who listened to Ozzy Osbourne and Motley Crue on the radio. Then you found this album with a bloody hammer on it called "Kill Em All", and then placed the needle on the first track! That song was so ahead of its time and it opened up the world to Thrash Metal!
The band were aged 19-20 when they recorded this album! James Hetfield's vocals definitely sound younger than later songs!
Hit The Lights is savage. Just brutal.👍
This album was originally called metal up your a$$. The record producers made them change it so the kill em all was meant for the producers...so I've heard.
@@stevenclarke4067 Correct!
@@stevenclarke4067 kill em all was just something Cliff would say before they would go out on stage.
Gotta listen to Blackened, fight fire with fire , hit the lights, whiplash, of wolf and man , wherever i may roam, battery, disposable heroes or leper messiah
of wolf and man and wherever i may roam pfff thats garbage metallica
@@corvettemustang1 maybe compared to the previous albums songs but off the black album these are some of the best
You missed Damage Inc, a brutality when Cliff Burton's exquisite intro ends.
@@bluemonsterblake8641 Goddamn Right
@@corvettemustang1 Oh, you’re one of those...
You should listen to Dyers Eve, probably one of the fastest and heaviest Metallica songs.
I second this! One of the more emotional songs if you listen to the lyrics carefully!
When I was mad at my dad that was my song. It was a long time ago and it was yesterday. 88 or so.
You gotta do a react to "Whiplash" by Metallica live from the Binge and Purge Albums. That will melt your mind. No Cap. Get on it!!
"Dyers eve" is the most aggressive Metallica song ever...is he ready for that?
No They are Nice guys James write his anger into epic songs and sing it out of his mind.
James Hetfield’s go to lyrics are “yeah!” “Hahhaha” almost every song they have contains one or both. 😄
I'm pretty sure that he ends every word with "yeaaahhh!!"
Next Metallica song you should check out, Jojo:
The Four Horsemen
Yes indeed. Exactly what i was thinking
HELL YEAH
Followed by Megadeth's "The Mechanix" just to mess with his head.
My second favorite after this one
My favorite song
Yooooo I was really hoping you would do this song because my dad and I love the song and it’s just so fun
Back in the day, you come into a thrash concert wearing a Cinderella T-shirt, the call was "Kill the Poseurs"...
If you want to hear a tune packed full of riffs, check out "Am I Evil?" which is Metallica's cover of a song by Diamondhead. It's a riff monster.
Yes!!
Also "The Prince"
Yes! Definetly
I actually do listen to this on the way to work 😂 love Metallica!
Right.
Playing in a rock metal band, and covering so many different songs, especially by Metallica this song, Seek and Destroy, is by far my all time favorite song to play by Metallica. It is just so fun.
A lot metal head bands are some of the biggest nerds in the world. You might change your mind about them fighting people if you heard them ever talk. The drummer used to be a tennis player.
Lars Ulrich's dad used to be a professional tennis player. It's how they moved from Denmark to the US. Lars gave up sports really early. "Whiplash" is more fun to play by the way. Great exercise to improve your picking technique, speed and endurance.
@@staalhard4044 Eh, I like Whiplash and have played Whiplash before, but I still think Seek and Destroy is more fun to play.
This is their 1st album. I think they were not 20 yet.
I am so overwhelmingly thrilled to see you enjoying the jams I grew up with as a young child this means a lot as this was one of my first real songs I learned to play (-solos, I was like 13 and just started).
It’s not that we were complaining, it’s just Metallica has so much context to their lyrics that is easy for a beginner to their music to miss without seeing them at the same time you hear the song.
You have to do “Fade to Black” and “Welcome Home (Sanitarium)”
He already did Fade
I will tell you exactly what I'm doing when I'm listening to Metallica. I'm getting pumped for a hockey game and as a defense it's my job to lay down hits so seek and destroy is probably the song that sums up my playstyle the best.
1) I'm a flag football player and Seek+Destroy motivates me pregame!
2) Metallica and hockey go together like biscuits &gravy, spaghetti &meatballs
3) Great comment TJ Taco
Just discovered your channel 5 minutes ago and your going through my favorite band
It’s because not only do the punch in the face with the guitar solos, drum beats, & constant changes in tempo. But the meaning in the writing is likewise what makes them so great. Kinda why I keep asking for a Disposable Heroes, it’s a instrumental and vocal masterpiece
You gotta check out Metallica performing LIVE. High energy, great drumming…check out Creeping Death Live in Moscow 1991. BTW this was off of Metallica’s first album 1983.
There's something you don't hear often, "great drumming" referring to Lars 😂
@@thefuzzman I know that is a lot of peoples opinion. I’m not a drummer so I don’t feel I can criticize, but compared to the studio version he is going ham on the drums in the performance. That was what I was referring to.
@@tiffanycocochannel1562 I agree, a lot of people think that about his drumming. But I honestly think he's not as bad as people make him out to be. As I say, "he may not be the best drummer, but he is the best drummer for Metallica". Without him, Metallica would not be what they are now.
@@thefuzzman Totally agree and his contribution is more than just his drumming.
I prefer them live.
Dave Mustaine of Megadeth actually wrote this song and most of Metallicas kill em all album back when he was in the band
And then they'd kicked him out of the band in favor of Kirk Hammett
Most of it? No
A significant amount? Yes ;)
@@lonely_adolescent2715 most of what everyone remembers from the album
Dave didn't really write this song on the album, it was "Phantom Lord" "The Forse horsemen" "Jump In The Fire" and "Metal Militia", maybe he contributed the vast majority musically, but to say that he did everything Kill 'Em All, it is totally false, for example in the Ride The Lightning has its two contributions, obviously the discography and the members themselves, they knew that they would act in a very idiotic way if all the music of said two albums had it in their name without giving input Dave, so you can't really say and officially state that Dave made the entire Kill 'Em All album, it's impossible for just one member to make an entire 9-track head-to-toe album, nor the Ride The Lightning did so much.
He did not write this song
One of my favorite reaction videos
Glad you enjoyed it
Awesome
Check out "Disposable Hero's" or "Damage Inc" by them.
I use this before an intense workout session,Jojo!that’s lit af!🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
This song has always been the fan participation song, getting the crowds involved!! I’m pretty sure every time I’ve seen them, 8 times, they’ve played this and have a blast with the fans🤘🏻🤘🏻🤟🏻
You'll have to check out their cover songs pretty soon. Metallica was well known for having great taste in covering songs by older bands. Am I Evil, Helpless, and The Prince, all originally by Diamond Head. Breadfan and Crash Course in Brain Surgery, both by Budgie. The Small Hours By Holocaust. Last Caress/Green Hell by the Misfits, but you might not be ready for that one.
yeeeh thats what iz thinkin of too so good
Love your analysis "can't eat pancakes without a plate"+"if you owe Metallica money"🤣🤙 Rock on,man!😎
Yes !!!
Thank you Jojo.
Bruh, you have me on a 3 hour marathon!!! Killin it!
Like your reaction. I just became a recent big fan of them, and I am 55 years old. You have a good analysis of musical things.
When I was a truck gunner in Afghanistan, I'd have an MP3 player and an ear bud in one ear under the truck headphones.
My playlist always started with this song.
If you want to hear really good skill, try Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth). It's instrumental and really nuts. I have never heard a bass guitar do anything like that since
Definitely cliff was the baddest man on bass there ever was
I love how rarely you pause the music. You're the best music reaction channel I've seen especially for that reason. Definitely listen to Sanitarium and Creeping Death
Just my bull. Keep rocking!
I've been practicing karate for 30 years and before every class tournament, or work out I have jammed this song. It has always fired me up.
I love you brother, the beats are hard, the guitar play is amazing. You're a good dude my guy
You picked a great one! 🎸🎸🎸
Metallica as well as most heavy metal bands are actually really nice people. Nicest, coolest people in the world actually
If you see some interviews with the band you can see they are some of the most sincere people ever!
The opening riff to this song is what got me hooked on Metallica. I was 11 or 12 at the time, circa 1987-88. Seek and Destroy will always be a special song for me. Changed my life, been a metalhead ever since.
love your explanations!
I find that Metallica can be quite relaxing on a drive home from a long day at work, even their fast, heavy songs
The way they transition into a completely different, and equally awesome riff and tempo will always be one of my favorite things about the way Metallica plays. I've always approached listening to their music like listening to a symphony, only a bit more aggressive. I think that Bach and Beethoven would enjoy their music if they were around today.
Well done mate!l🤘🤘🤘😎😎 metal is addictive 🤘🤘😎✌
All their big songs, that may take a while but it will be fun!
you have to watch them live - look up videos - I saw them back in 91 and they blew guns ’n’ roses off the stage and they played for about 3 hours - the entire stadium was going mental and singing when they asked us - thunderous
One of my all time favorite saw them on this album and others
I think it's cool as he'll that you can appreciate a song from 1983 and jam with it. Keep it up man
YES more early Metallica please.
Takes me back to 1980’s mosh pits just thrashing out that surplus teenage energy.
I Love watchin these guys reactions when listening to metal.
You can watch their 1983 live performance of this song in Chicago Live at the Metro to get the idea how they presented themselves at that time.
Aye I knew you would like this one man!
Seek and destroy the solo, is my favorite Metallica solo ever. I love it
This is a banger!
One of my favorite Metallica songs, if not my favorite, its so hard to choose, but its actually an instrumental song... off Master of Puppets, called Orion... it is pure musical genius... the song builds slowly, showcasing everyone in the bands instrumental prowess... it builds, and builds, and then comes crashing down, and then it builds again... it is beautiful and powerful...
I think you need to actually go to a metallic concert and I bet you me and many others would donate for you to experience a bad ass concert
lol we would be head banging in are car with our friends jamming this. or this is what you listened to on way to a concert to get pumped up.
You should do Iron Maiden The Trooper or Hallowed be thy name
He’s done those
I'm 47 yrs old been listening to metallica they are my favorite kill em all got me into them🇨🇦🇨🇦👍👍
The Four Horsemen from the same album is one of Metallica's 5 best songs, easily.
One of my more memorable Metallica shows was 1996 Lollapalooza at Rockingham Dragway . Metallica was with WU-Tang, Soundgarden, Rage, The Ramones, Rancid. Screaming Trees, etc. Wasn’t my first Metallica show and my old ass is still going. Also I love seeing the reactions to songs I’ve listened to for decades. Keep up the good work.
Im a metalhead from 80"s and this brings a smile to my face! Our neighborhood not far from Southside of Chi had many different nationalilty s but only one black kid named Sugarbear ( wasn't a metalhead) . Then we had a new black kid Sean move in from Chi (79th & Halsted terror town ) . We first thought it was going to be trouble but it turned out he was a full blown METALHEAD! We were floored LOL ! Became a brother to all of us ! He also played AD&D ! Man we had a unique and strange neighborhood! Great times !
Man, it's funny you talk about listening to Seek And Destroy while driving because this is my favorite song to drive to, and I can confirm, you are much more likely to speed :)
Jump in the fire, whiplash and harvester of sorrow by Metallica, seek and destroy is one of my favorites! Glad you enjoyed it.
That switch at ~10 min mark. Gets bluesey for a sec. Love that
1023 to be exact
Back in 1986 I'll listened to this on a weekend late at night with my metal head friends & rarely get into it with some punks real Punks those with the spike hair and black nails but most of the time will right before or after getting out of work that played it in my cassette player
I grew up playing all of these songs on my dads 68 fender strat sitting next to my radio trying to keep up without any guitar tab. I still play 3 times a week and I am now 45. I love the the hell out of your style man. Don't ever change. And yes I participated in many mosh pits and took my licks like man. Would never change a thing. An amazing time in history to be alive. I got some song suggestions coming for you soon. For now, try some Dream Theater: Pull Me Under.
When the drums come in at the beginning is the second I got in to Metallica and have played guitar everyday since
In fact, about 3 weeks ago Seek and Destroy played on the way to work at 830am.
I sold a TON that day and then on the way home, The Four Horseman played.
If you haven't heard that by Metallica yet, it will blow your mind.
Great reaction
The first Metallica song I ever heard way back maybe in 1985! Still holds a place in my heart! A lot of metal music comes across as us metal heads being violent mean people. But most are not. They tend to not take crap. Lol. Metal like rap gets judged by “society” so to speak. I’ve always felt they have a lot in common. I think both are just “rebellious” genres. I think if the rap world and the metal world joined forces the world would be a different place. Lol. Keep them coming young man! I’m loving your channel! I also love your dads!
Man, i love this guy
Yay! Lyrics!
They're approach to the crowd was "we're gonna kick your ass with our music". That's the drive behind this song.
You have a great taste in music bro
I used to walk around in 1983, '84, '85 and '86 asking, how is this band not being played on the radio?
This song is more about the live concert experience. There's probably a live version of this somewhere on RUclips from a concert that will have a lot more interaction with the crowd. Same with Master of Puppets.
We were going 100 mph partying like rockstars 🥳😎 oh how I miss the 80’s
Haha. Metallica is my go to band while In the car. And definitely my on my way to work music. It calms me by giving me a way to release tension.
Seek and and Destroy has one of the most iconic guitar riffs in metal along with Cowboys from Hell- Pantera, raining Blood- Slayer, Breaking the Law- Judas Priest, and Run for the Hills-Iron maiden.
"no cap" what the hell is no cap?? Thumbs up regardless of illiteracy - love your vids and reactions. Eye workeeeed extraaa extraaah harrd two reeed and heer extra kapp.
It's slang, man. Calm down.
I second Hyp3r45's. Call for "WELCOME HOME SANITARIUM". As for "SEEK and destroy" in 1992 Orlando Fl this song caused $45,000+ in damages to the orlando arena. The band wrote a check on the spot for more and told the city have a nice day. The city told them you're welcome here anytime. We get some of their most lit shows every tour
I'm a dude with super long hair and I play guitar. And I have one of the only remakes of kirks Ouija board guitar. It sounds amazing!
The pancake analogy.... busted out laughing!
What's cool about their musicianship is they made this when they were 17 years old. They knew how to make timeless music while drunk and goofing around. That's what I love about them, they are just kids but they how to put emotion and drive into their songs
Hey fun fact did you know that there first album Kill Em’ All was recorded out in where I live back in 1983, out in Rochester NY
Long live to metallica!
It's very relaxing music
Great music was played anytime 😊.
The live version from Live Shit: Binge & Purge is epic.
Fun fact: The original album title was "Metal Up Your Ass", the album art was a knife being thrust out of a toilet. You can still find the shirts. Johnny Z and his fledgling Megaforce Records said "hey guys, not sure we can get this into stores" so they're like "okay, we're changing to Kill 'Em All and the artwork is a 10# sledge hammer and blood".
The music is far more important than trying to interpret some freaky lyrics............... jmo You rock it bro!
I like the lyrics on screen. Can you do this format with an official video? That would be slammin!!!!
Alex Hefner has been doing whole albums by Metallica, one song per day. He reacted to every song on Metallica's albums "And Justice For All..." and "Master Of Puppets," and is currently in the process of reacting to every song on their "Ride The Lightning" album.
Metallica has been killing it for decades... I first heard them in 1985... fight fire with fire, off the Ride the Lightning album... been hooked ever since 😎
I'm 13 and thx to my wonderful parents I have enjoyed the bands like this
Fantastic Song
This whole album changed my perspective of heavy music in high school 😁 check out Ride the Lightning and Justice for all.
I think you get the idea much love NERD
