Wearing a Maurice Lacroix Aikon Automatic 39mm blue dial right now, and I couldn't agree more. I think B&M and ML, possibly Junghans also, fly under the radar due to them making quartz variants of the watches as well. Tissot also does this, and it unfortunately keeps the brand perception at a lower level :/

Great topic Jory - so many great brands that get lost in the overwhelming focus on so very few...I agree with those who mentioned Swatch's other red-headed stepchild Certina. Fantastic vintage references such as the Argonaut Chrono and some gorgeous modern issues like the DS PH200M Powermatic 80 Ref. C036.407.11.050.01 (approx. $1k) and the retro reissue DS Chronograph Automatic Ref. C038.462.16.037.00 (approx. $2k). Such a historic brand - you should show them some love.

MIDO is a bit of a same DAMASKO problem: not bad at all... But the BRAND...weakness of the the glam mood. But yeah, value for money...but thats not the whole target isnt? 😎

As you're into vintage watches have you heard of a German company called Kienzle, I am currently wearing one that used to be my grandads and then my dads.
It's about 35mm and is quite a workhorse, it's even antimagnetic.

    Enjoyed the vid 👍
At this (later) point in my life, can't justify anything more than $1,000 with my better half for a non-necessity. Now; when I retire in the next 3 to 5 years, I have a choice - - a single high $$ watch or an entire barrel of Jack Daniel's Single Barrel of my personal choosing after sampling barrels which starts around $10k for the entire barrel which all the bottles are personalized + other things) of which I can gift bottles to family, friends and close coworkers.
Different stages in life dictate different priorities and different decisions.
Everyone has different priorities; none of which are wrong.

Along with Frederique Constant you must take a good look at Alpina. Starting in 1883 gives them good horological cred, more importantly have you looked at any of their pieces up close? Talk about value for the dollar. I have a Startimer 44nm (Almost 8” wrist) with a grey radial dial, in house movement, excellent finishing, lock down cone shape crown, raised numerals, their logo triangle, raised of course, as a 12 pip. Contesting chapter ring in black and a great case w/ exhibition back. New I believe around 2k, pre owned half that. Using your criteria with which I agree, every time I look at it I smile. So much watch for the money the brand deserves its own show given the breadth of their collection collection collections. Shout out for Alpina.

So obviously i haven't watched the entire video yet, but one of the dumbest thing's i've heard people say about Glashutte Original was that they're "bargain bin A Lange & Sohne"
Which is fucking ridiculous, because as you've mentioned they are absolutely fantastically made, highly finished, beautiful, just stunning watches that are (relatively) affordable.
People act like Lange has a patent on german watch design history, it's absurd.
    Also Taxation is Theft
