Ya know it never occurred to me how difficult it would be for someone who doesn't already know all the characters to understand wth is happening in the MH movies- they do kinda rely on the assumption that you'd already know who everyone was and what the franchise is about

I personally think of it like the marvel movies. Yeah, you can watch only Infinity War and Endgame, but you won't understand the character buildup and little quirks the franchise has built over the movies.

So Astronova is actually the wishing star in Ever After High. Shes what the fairytale characters wish upon. Both her and Cupid are technically attending the same school but Cupid transferred to EAH and Astronova as u can see is currently studying in MH :>

I love all the references to their future crossover, especially the tiny ones like the mirror Cupid uses to travel between being in the 13 wishes movie when they're cleaning the attic. Plenty of easter eggs in that attic, like a floating apple and a hat that looks like it was made by the mad hatter. I wish they would keep making movies and finally do the crossover though.
I really am tempted to request he watches them in order but seeing Mathew confusion over the logic and plot is just a new normal🤣

Honestly, Cleo is one of the reasons the New reboot is so panned. They made her a stereotypical mean girl and that isn't who she is. She is a rich posh Girl who is a little out of touch with the "working class" but her heart is _always_ in the right place and her and Deuce' Relationship is one of the most steady and wholesome things ever.
Cleo is the same character she was in g1 in the new g3 show (if thats what you mean by “new reboot”). She still seems like a stereotypical rich girl on the surface but is sweet at heart and loves her friends. There’s zero difference between old and new Cleo besides new Cleo not dating Deuce.

So Cleo is not the nicest ghoul you can find in Monster High, she's this popular rich girl, and at the beginning of Monster High she was mean to Frankie (for valid and non valid reasons), but over time she became a part of the main characters (Frankie, Draculaura, Clawdeen, Lagoona/Abby (I think they are interchangeable in the group, depends of the context), Ghoulia and Cleo).
She can be a bit b*tchy sometimes, but it's part of her personality.
Overall she's an amazing character that people really like because she acts like the queen she is. 😌

There sadly won't be any movies that can better explain the ending with the Ever After High Crossover. There was supposed to be a crossover movie at some point, however, it sadly got cancelled while in production. There's a couple storyboard and voiced over lines that were supposed to have been in the movie, but this was the last Monster High movie to hint at the crossover. If i remember right though, there is a book where the two worlds cross over?
yes! The legend of shadow high, I haven't read it in a while but I remember it was quite good.
I seriously wished they did the crossover, even if it was a short. It was a fantastic concept and was sooo upset when it got cancelled.

Yeah, seeing this movie for the first time years ago I suspected that all the girls' singing parts were done by one person cause I watched it and was like "they all sound the same".
Also Deuce's singing voice being COMPLETELY different helped sell me on that lol.

So for context on the end credit scene. Boo York Boo York was the last movie in g1 of Monster High. The next movie was supposed to be a Ever After High and Monster High crossover but it got scrapped and they rebooted the franchise instead (the reboot g2 was crap). On monster highs official youtube they actually posted some of the movies storyboarding if you're curious

I'm not gonna lie, I actually burst out laughing at this part. I did NOT expect to see Apple and Raven. I mean I know the two schools are connected and Cupid from EAH at one point went to Monster High but still. That was unexpected

Duece is a total himbo in the earliest iterations and we absolutely adore him for it.
The more movies you watch the better you know the characters they normally use the same ones with a couple added additions for each movie. One of my fav is freaky fusions, 13 wishes, and scaris city of fright

Best movie to watch for crossover/understanding is "Why Do Ghouls Fall in Love" where we get Cupid's backstory before she travels to Ever After High. Plus it's got more cute romances, mostly Draculaura this time.

Growing as a Cleo biased girl. I stayed loyal this is one of the best(for me THE best) character. She is so well written, bc of her bad attitude she gives negative vibes but in reality when it comes to her friends she is the cutest and can do everything to them. She deserve to be loved🫶🏻
I haven't seen it mentioned here yet, but Haunted is one of my favourite Monster High movies! I find it really underappreciated. It's probably the scariest of all the movies though!

I'm so glad you're watching this! The original Monster (this one) definitely has a special place in my heart and this movie especially since Deuce is my favorite and Boo York shows a different side to him. With Cleo, I love how they developed her character. She used to be that posh, mean, popular girl, but as you see now, she's still posh, but she's a genuinely good friend. One of my favorite things is her romance with Deuce. They really do love each other. It's not at all one of those "because they're both popular" type of things
The blue fairy from Cedar's story disappeared in EAH, there is a theory that Astranova was this fairy, both for granting wishes and for the coloration of her skin.
Since ever after high has technology maybe Geopettoe created Astranova and the blue fairy brought her to life to be her successor and passed down her powers and abilities to her.

Cleo is my favourite character period! She's one of those characters that you either love or you hate with a passion, I'd like to say she's almost like the fierce version of Apple White, in that aspect 🤣🤩
13 wishes is still one of my favorite monster high movies, I'm a sucker for anything with an eclipse climax, or shady twins. It would have been interesting to see them connect the genies to an ever after Aladdin.

With the reveal of that ending easter egg, maybe we should get Mat to watch an episode or another movie of MH that has C.A. Cupid in it to get a proper look of what she first looked like.
They never ended up getting to do a proper MH and EAH crossover, but there is a character in EAH, C.A. Cupid, who was originally a MH character
For more context on that last scene, before Monster High was rebooted the first time into G2 there was gonna be a crossover movie between Monster High and Ever After High. You can find very few images from it where we can even see some of the Ever After High characters in 3D in the monster high style. But the film was canceled, but they were probably gonna touch on the fact that Astronova traveled between the universes or something like that in the film. As also Cupid traveled between the world before. Which I bet they would address that by like having the ghouls say how they haven’t seen Cupid in a long time and then they learn that she’s fine and just hanging out with her friends at Ever After High. It’s a shame because that crossover would have been awesome and I wish the people behind the project would tell us what would have happened in the film.

I want you to watch the series so bad. It kinda shows you who they are. Cleo is like kind of a mean girl but she loves her friends so sometimes she's selfish but sometimes she's kind.
Reason why deuce has snakes on his head is basically a reference to Medusa, the Gorgon from Greek mythology who was able to turn people to stone its the reason why he wear shades.
I love Monster High specifically for the puns. I got into them because one individual at my job only had 1 so I bought the others and brought them in to her so she could have a choice of movies. But the puns are KEY.
I watch this movie so many times when I was younger but I don’t remember those end credits scenes at all. Loved getting to see it again and remember how good the soundtrack is.

I want to believe that the comet girl is not exactly an alien but the encarnation of the wishing star or somehting like that, considering that she had ties with EAH and that the light of the commet creates unbreakable promesses.
Edit: I noticed that she said "all highschools", meaning that they were probably going to have a full expanded multiverse.
If you do this again, pls do either Haunted or Freaky Fusion. They were my all-time favorites as a kid, and it would be so funny to see your reaction to these two movies I used to love.
There is no actual movie where they go into more detail about the connections between Monster High and Ever After High sadly. There is a book though. I just bought it a couple weeks ago. It is called The Legend of Shadow High. It has Draculaura and Frankie Stein from MH and Apple White and Raven Queen from EAH. One of the later narrators in EAH is the narrator for the book. I love it so far.
OK, no, because I watched this movie four times already and I NEVER knew there was an end-credit scene. Like WTF is this I mean I knew there was a crossover in Ever After High but I was not ready for this. also, this is one of the few movies I watched as a child that aged very very well and I still love it as much as the first time all those years ago.
If you want another monster high movie that has a nice ever after high crossover i recommend watching why do ghouls fall in love!
Boo York is one of the most fun Monster High movies imo, I'm always a fan of stories that don't take place in the same "main location" if that makes any sense. I'm glad you enjoyed it, I would love to see you watch more! My personal favorites are Ghouls Rule, Haunted and 13 Wishes!
Ghouls Rule is just a really fun time (and explains a lot about the relationship between humans and monster in a world thats pretty much infested with monsters)
Haunted is pretty underrated and focuses mostly on a character that was never very important before (kinda like Catty in this movie)
And 13 Wishes is pretty chaotic and gets pretty damn intense at points (like, near death experiences and enslaving all monsters intense) and also introduces one of my two favorite characters! (Twyla my beloved, so sad she never really showed up anywhere else)
Is this the one with the Ever After High teaser at the end, that went absolutely nowhere? I was so excited when it happened, and then what?

You should watch the movies from the beginning. You were actually right about Cleo, but she character developed her way to where she is now. Plus you'll be able to know more about the characters. The zombie that saved Earth, for example. Plus they're fun to watch and all have great movies Edit: Meant to say music, but they are all great movies

In an Ever After High episode, you reacted to you find out C.A. Cupid was originally from Monster High, but now attends Ever After High. However, Cupid plays a big role in the Monster High movie, "Why do Gouls fall in Love?" There are a lot of good movies, so if I had to recommend one, I would literally struggle to pick because they are all so good. Though I think my favorites would be either "Freaky Fusion" or "Haunted."
That song where they fly into boo york is a mystery I'm pretty sure. Last time I checked the singer was unknown.
As someone autistic, I greatly loved Monster high because it was about loving yourself no matter who you are, but also for the dialogue. I noticed you got confused at the beginning when Frankie and Clawdine (forgot how to spell her name) were talking about the Pop star struggling. Lot's of people apparently misunderstand the characters tone often, which is a constant thing with me as well, they weren't making fun of her, they noticed she was struggling and talked to each other about how it's a struggle to be as good at the pop star, that's why they say "A genius at work" and shushed each other, they are giggling at the difficulty of being the best and how yeah it's difficult but she's a pop star, so she has this.
TLDR: They aren't being sarcastic, they are genuinely complimenting her and saying she's a genius and even being the best is a struggle
I love most of the G1 monster high films except maybe great scarier reef. I didn't like it much compared to the others. But I think most of them are worth checking out. Even just to spend more time with the characters because they are all pretty fun😊. If you want to check out other generations I would recommend finishing G1 first though as the later ones change everything and I personally didnt like them as much but that may be because they replaced this version that I was very attached to. That being said g3 has some nice representation and music.

39:33 The point at which Mathew's brain broke. The movie crossover between Monster High and EAH got cancelled (although there are storyboards online). They did go forward with a book crossover called "Shadow High" but it doesn't have the same plot.
Yes, Nefera is irredeemably evil. No, there is no resolution between her and Cleo. We never do find out if Cleo learns exactly how much Nefera manipulated Duce or if she ever forgave Nefera.
Boo York has been and always will be my favourite movie the soundtrack is amazing the plot I found rlly interesting and everything was overall done so well.
Cleo(mummy in gold and turquoise has a sister that she hates named Nefara and her daddy. She is also friends with a zombie named Ghoulia Telps and speaks zombie fluently )and the other girls didn’t like each other at first. Cleo was a mean girl at the start of the web show and over time they became friends. Deuce(the guy with snakes for hair) is a gorgon like Medusa and is Cleo’s boyfriend since the very start of the show. Draculaura(the vampire in pink and black who talks non stop) is the adopted daughter of Dracula. Her bio father was friends with Dracula and he adopted her after her bio dad passed. Her boyfriend is Clawd Wolf(werewolf) who is the older brother of Clawdeen(the other werewolf) and they have a younger sister(1st year) named Howlleen and an older sister who is a writer in Hollywood named Claudia. She doesn’t have a boyfriend because she doesn’t care to much about relationships and is focused on her career as a fashion designer.Frankie Stein is the granddaughter of Frankenstein and the daughter of Frankensteins monster. She is the main girl and has multi love interest in the movie and web show. But she doesn’t have an actual boyfriend. Catty Noir and Operetta are side characters that don’t really appear much. I don’t know much about Catty aside from what’s stated in this movie. Operetta is the daughter of the Phantom of the Opera and is considered a ghost even though she is solid most of the time. She spends most of her time in the catacombs of the school playing the organ and singing just like her father. She can’t sing in front of people because of how her voice effects them( I don’t remember what it dies) so she records her singing sometimes so her friends can listen. She has a friend? Boyfriend? Named Johnny who is basically Elvis. He’s a rockabilly type ghost that looks like he came out if Grease. We don’t really see him much
That ending with the Ever After High girls was supposed to run into a collaboration movie but it got cancelled and Decendants ended up being the reason Monster High and EAH got cancelled, but in monster high’s case, eventually revived !!
Honestly this is the only musical movie in the franchise and it definitely is one of the best but I really suggest 'Freaky Fusions' and '13 wishes', they're a few of my favourites but honestly I loved almost every Monster High Movie

Each movie was like an event where they released new doll characters, this one had the moth girl Luna Mothews, Moucedes King (daughter of the mouse king from the Nutcracker to tie into NYC’s theater scene and memes about rats in the city), Catty Noir and Pharaoh obvi, Astra Nova from the comet, and the robot girl I forgot the name of, maybe Elle E.D. ?
This movie and whatever movie they introduced C.A. Cupid in were meant to tie into the other Mattel fashion doll line, Ever After High, since Cupid is the daughter of not just a god but a figure from mythology, meaning she works in both worlds where she can be a monster and a fairytale
I think Astra Nova calling the Ever After High girls was meant to show how far she’s traveled, because she does not show up at all in any Ever After High thing besides this one clip.
And there’s very little connection between movies, I don’t think Astra Nova shows up again, plus this was one of the later movies they released so there wasn’t much opportunity to put her in cameo roles. The format is basically “here’s a movie, here’s new characters, you can buy dolls of these cool new characters, now on to the next one!”

Astra Nova is the shooting star characters in fairytales wish on, which is also why the crystal from her ship made "promises" come true

Two movies I highly suggest you to watch is Ghouls rule (a Halloween movie) and Freaky Fusion. They and Boo York Boo York are my top three favourite monsters high movies, and I think you would really enjoy them as well.
The only thing I think she could be related to in Ever After High is the star that a wish is made on. I.e. the star from Pinocchio for example.
Love boo York, but I have a reaction request.. The musical “Hairspray” the songs are so good, and it’s a great film.
There’s probably some irony or cool idea involved with the fact that ancient Egyptians used to worship cats. So, Kitty Noir + Pharaoh are like a fated couple.
