Okay, I dont mind the comedians who actually know football and came to talk about football. The reason comedians are here is becuase they're good storytellers. But get that German guy off I cannot stand him
You know, some of these stands would’ve not been the case if the offense would give the ball to the damn running back that was dominant all game and has a strong chance in canton.
I like how they keep saying “run the football” and then when a different team runs it then they say “throw the football” and when they do they say “why did you throw the football?”
It made me remember that three years earlier the Giants had a better goal line stand vs the Broncos, if you remember the Broncos were at the goal-line leading 10-7, Carl Banks, LT, and Harry Carson made big time tackles, it totally changed the game, Giants won the Super Bowl in the second half.
@@ChadFarthouse-h8r they had a goal line stance 2x vs Denver that season. The 1st in Denver where Gary Reasons gets credit for THE HIT and they did it again in SB 21
I’m with that Mexican guy - I read those words, and in my head it plays out like the announcer. It’s like seeing a ‘Win, Baby, Win’ sign and all I can hear is Al Davis’s lungs after two packs of Maverick cigarettes
The funny thing about the #2 goal-line stand was on that final play, Lombardi gave Robinson a failing grade because Robinson wasn't supposed to be blitzing Meredith, but cover the receiver rolling out with Meredith.
The two Cincy-SF SBs of the '80s were the only what I'd call SUPERbowls of the entire decade of the '80s. Both were very well played by both teams and either team could've won. I wish the Bengals would've won at least one of them, but such is life.
19:48 the vikings stopped the bears 7 times within the 10 last year in week 17, but ive never heard this mentioned by anyone, or seen in any highlights. Absolutely pulse pounding
Should have included the 1969 Kansas City Chiefs stuffing Joe Namath and the Jets in the playoffs. A goal line stand later in the game holding them to a field goal in a low scoring game, on their way to a 13-6 win and eventually winning the Superbowl behind an all time great defense.
One that should be high on the list occurred on Monday night between Washington and Dallas back in 1978 when their rivalry was at its most intense level. The teams were playing for the division lead. The teams had the league's #1 and #2 offenses but the defenses played at a seemingly superhuman level keeping the final score down to 9-5. Don't let the low score fool you; this game had as much thrills and drama as any game could possibly have. In the 3rd quarter with Washington up 6-0, Dallas had the ball (after a 5 yard offsides penalty) for a 1st and 5 at the Washington 7 yard line. On first down, Tony Dorsett ran it for two yards. On second down, Robert Newhouse ran it for two yards. On third down, Tony Dorsett picked up one yard for a first down at the two. On first down, Dallas completed a short pass to Preston Pearson in the right flats and was tackled at the one. On second down, Tony Dorsett ran it and was met in the hole at the line of scrimmage by Harold McClinton for no gain. On third down, Dallas tried running it with Dorsett again and Harold McClinton jumped into the hole stopping Dorsett for a 1 yard loss. On 4th down, Dallas simply settled for a field goal to cut the lead to 6-3. All told, Dallas, with the league's #1 offense, had 7 plays inside the seven and 4 plays inside the two, and only managed a field goal.
Get rid of these damn comedians who don't know as much about the NFL as other people who used to be on did. Also, pretty good list. Glad Super Bowl 49 isn't on here because it was a bad play call and Atlanta Philadelphia 2018 because that was an offensive collapse
The Sabols are spinning in their graves over this. NFL Films used to be Oscar worthy (if they ever gave Oscars to sports highlight films). I could understand having 1 comedian on here to keep things light, but don't fill your whole show with them. This isn't Just for Laughs.
Anyone wanna tell us why NFL films thought it would be a good idea to include the German "party pooper" guy in the commentary? This isn't for futbol fans...

Gary Reasons was probably one of the unsung heroes of the Giants LB Corps. He hit Bobby Humphrey so hard he made his ear pad fly outta the air. As for the #1 Goal Line Stand, Alexander did a poor job of running his route. Big credit to Danny Bunz on checking the flat and not having his eyes caught up in the backfield.
That Dan Bunz tackle on Charles Alexander should be immortalized in a statue. The Bengals win the Super Bowl if they score there, I'm sure of it. They were surging in the 2nd half.
That tackle still amazes me. Bunz stopped him on what looked like 1/4 inch from the goal line. You run that play again 10 times, Alexander probably scores every time
It’s literally this: Analyst: *in depth take on what they thought of it, and different implications leading up to it* Comedian: “yeah but come on, Lawrence Taylor? No way man he’s the best”
What people forget or don't know is that San Francisco's defense was even more dominant than their offense. They were #1 in the league in '81 and '84. In fact - in the 1984 playoffs the D gave up 1 TD. Just one. In Montana's last 3 NFCCs the Niner D gave up a TOTAL of 6 points - an average of 2 per game. So all Joe & Co. needed was to average a FG to win 3 NFC Championships. In Montana's nine full seasons in San Fran his D was Top five all 9 years. The Niners defense was #1 in the league in '81 and '84. In fact - in the 1984 playoffs the D gave up 1 TD. Just one. Unbelievable. In the 1988 playoffs the San Francisco defense gave up ZERO touchdowns. Even more unbelievable. In the 1989 playoffs they gave up 1 garbage time TD to the Vikings when the score was 41-6 and one garbage time TD to the Broncos when the score was 41-3. So in those 3 Super Bowl runs the 49ers defense gave up one meaningful TD. Incredible.
In 1989, part of that was the offense though: 1989 49ers time of possession: 39:48 to 20:12 29 first downs (to only 9) 44 rushes for 179 yards 31 passes for 268 yards But yeah, that was one of the best overall teams ever. The other two NFCC games were more balanced in time of possession. In 1984 the 49ers actually lost the time of possession battle but still shut out the Bears. However, they ran 10 more plays.
I am really glad that NFL Films interviewed more broadcasters and actual past players in this episode instead of mostly comedians in the past year (there were still a few comedians, but far less in this one)

I’d like to have seen Super Bowl 21’s Goal-line stand. I know the Broncos didn’t go for it on 4th Down, but they were about to go up 17-7, and ended up getting zilch. On 4th down, their kicker missed the shortest FG attempting SB history. Another Giant favorite of mine was week 3 of the 2007 season against the Redskins. There not really your typical goal line stand on the Malcom Butler one that was only 2 plays and on that rams titans game they weren't on the 1 yard line or something there both iconic but not a top 10 goal line stand
I always wanted Dan Bunz and Dave Butz to end up on the same defense. What a perfect pair. Butz at NT and Bunz as MLB backing him up. Unfortunately, they never ended up on the same team, much less the same defense. They did play about the same time though.
I was expecting to see that one. It's up there with the most important moments in NFL history because it pretty much led the Patriots to their second title which proved their first wasn't a fluke, which legitimised them as a possible dynasty which they have become
As a Charger fan #6 makes me smile. I was a young lad of 8 and Natrone means, Stan the Man Humphries and especially a young explosive Junior Seau backed up all my brash trash talking to my relatives. They beat Dan Marino and then this game. Nobody gave the chargers a snowball's chance in hell, despite what they say about Neil O Donnell, everyone thought their defense was gonna smoke us. I remember watching this on TV and the goalline stand was a nice moment.
I've been a NFL fan for over 25 years. I've seen a lot of these NFL films Top Tens, and football content from other YT creators. I'm amazed that before this video I had never heard of or seen The Hit.
The fact you don’t have the patriots to go line stances the one in the Super Bowl against Seattle should be number one everywhere and the one against the Colts should also be in the top 10
SterlingArcher85 - That’s what I was thinking when I first saw this episode live, but remember the Jets kicked the field goal on 4th down. So it’s exempt from this list. They mentioned it on Best of the Rest though, so that’s pretty cool. King Of Random - It’s still part of the NFL dude. And a well known goal line stand by people who actually care about the history of the sport. Also the list had the Greatest Game Ever Played from 1958 at number 7, and the 1966 NFL Championship Game at number 2, so pointing out the year would make even less sense. Tom Brady Shady #CheatSquad#KissMeLikeMySon#WOAT - I can’t speak for SterlingArcher personally, but age doesn’t have much to do with it. I’m 19 years old and was wondering the same thing. You don’t have to have lived through history to show an interest in history.
@Harry Engel It went three downs but forced the Jets to kick a field goal in a game the Chiefs narrowly won in a defensive struggle, en route to winning Superbowl 4. It was definitely a difficult goal line stand being in the playoffs and going against a highly touted QB Joe Namath who had just won the Superbowl the season before.
I knew SB XVI would be number one. I remember watching that when I was ten years old, the second SB I ever watched, and as a Bengals fan I was crushed. But they put up a hell of a fight in that game.
Are we really going to ignore Crabtree getting held at the goal-line and the ball spot was the 5-yard line, meaning that the refs missed an OBVIOUS holding call?
* Patriots vs Seahawks SB wasn't good enough? * Also.. wasn't the Rams-Titans SB a goal line stop also? * I can also think of a Steeler game vs the Broncos back in 1979 or 1980 where the Steelers stopped Denver on 4 tries as time expired... that game decided who played where the next week. Which... turned out to be Steelers and Broncos again!
2 of the best short yardage stops, at least recently, both with the Vikings, Week 10 vs the Bills with Kirk Cousins on the goal line and Week 15 vs the Colts with Matt Ryan on 4th&1 millimeter
They probably use comedians to give us a view of ordinary fans( just like us) had going through their minds at the time. Plus they’re comedians so they’re great story tellers.

Damn no no , he’s not funny. If he’s funny outside of this , fine
But nfl films he’s horrible
I miss when these top 10s just had people who actually knew what they were talking about instead of including comedians making unfunny jokes
"We've run it six times in a row, what should we do now?"
"Run it again, right at Reggie White."
"Sounds good."
LOL
I love that 21:24 graphic.
6 penalties for 19 yards.
That's a huge achievement in its own right. Averaging only 3.17 yards per penalty.
No malcolm butler and no titans rams? Ok nfl yall weird
There not really your typical goal line stand on the Malcom Butler one that was only 2 plays and on that rams titans game they weren't on the 1 yard line or something there both iconic but not a top 10 goal line stand
@Harry Engel
Oh thanks didn't get see tjat
If there's only one play that's first and goal from the 10 it's not really a stand.
That's just 1 play for both of those moments
I always wanted Dan Bunz and Dave Butz to end up on the same defense. What a perfect pair. Butz at NT and Bunz as MLB backing him up. Unfortunately, they never ended up on the same team, much less the same defense. They did play about the same time though.
No 2003 pats colts Willis Mcginest stuffing Peyton and edgerrin James.... That's awful
I was expecting to see that one. It's up there with the most important moments in NFL history because it pretty much led the Patriots to their second title which proved their first wasn't a fluke, which legitimised them as a possible dynasty which they have become
They stuffed him on first and second, third down was a fade to the outside that was incomplete, then stuffed James on fourth down.
It was very fitting for Ray Lewis to end his career with a goalline stand to win the Super Bowl.
"Stopped seven times....just like me at prom"
HAHHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
awful
As a Charger fan #6 makes me smile. I was a young lad of 8 and Natrone means, Stan the Man Humphries and especially a young explosive Junior Seau backed up all my brash trash talking to my relatives. They beat Dan Marino and then this game. Nobody gave the chargers a snowball's chance in hell, despite what they say about Neil O Donnell, everyone thought their defense was gonna smoke us. I remember watching this on TV and the goalline stand was a nice moment.
A Raider fan here.
That Philadelphia goal line stand vs the Cardinals was just SICK!!! The best one for me hands down.
I've been a NFL fan for over 25 years. I've seen a lot of these NFL films Top Tens, and football content from other YT creators.
I'm amazed that before this video I had never heard of or seen The Hit.
Me: Don't you ever test jimmy Smith with a mediocre receiever like Crabtree
Ravens: uh huh you know Crabtree plays for us now right?
Me:.......
Since Sherman and Crabtree are more than likely gonna be back on the market next year don't they just sort of *have* to end up on the same team?
Bro, that Ron boytono remark killed me. Clearly that clip was around the time the south park movie came out.
How did the 1969 Chiefs against the Jets not make the list?
The fact you don’t have the patriots to go line stances the one in the Super Bowl against Seattle should be number one everywhere and the one against the Colts should also be in the top 10
How do you not have the Chiefs stuffing Namath in the 1969 AFL Divisional Playoff Game?
SterlingArcher85 my goodness, you must be a great grandfather to remember that
SterlingArcher85 - That’s what I was thinking when I first saw this episode live, but remember the Jets kicked the field goal on 4th down.
But they put up a hell of a fight in that game.
and the voice of god summed it all up @ 26:33
What about the Malcolm Butler interception?
That's just Seattle not running the ball
Seattle didn't run! Otherwise Ne gets beat
Only John Facenda could properly announce the #1 stand.
voice of god who else
Are we really going to ignore Crabtree getting held at the goal-line and the ball spot was the 5-yard line, meaning that the refs missed an OBVIOUS holding call?
I didn’t even think about the Ravens vs 49ers Super Bowl but I’m glad we’re on the list
WHAT WOULD BRIAN BOITANO DO? 1:00
The eagles should have won that game just because of the beautiful South Park reference
The Jets quietly went to two AFC Championships in the early 2010’s
Followed by at least 13 straight seasons of missing the playoffs
Hey you scrolling threw the comments hope you have a great day(:
Elite FortniteFAM it’s night time but ok
Rocky steward i posted it at day you read it a night but have a great night tho
I hope you have a great day too
Elite FortniteFAM thanks dude!
That eagles defense is lit. Along with Max Holloway.
no titans rams?
Stop at the 1 yard line but not really a goal line stand.
Because a Belichick defense never stopped anybody on the 1, never...........
I miss these top10s like you wouldn't believe
I hate when comedians talk about sports. They're usually very annoying.
I hate when comedians talk about politics.
They are always very annoying
It still hurt to watch the Chargers stop the Steelers. That was depressing.
The criteria was at least 4 downs played. Neither qualified. I guess #3 wasn't important or dramatic enough to make the list?
2 of the best short yardage stops, at least recently, both with the Vikings, Week 10 vs the Bills with Kirk Cousins on the goal line and Week 15 vs the Colts with Matt Ryan on 4th&1 millimeter
I hope Seahawks vs. Patriots isn't #1 LOL
Hurts every time
#1 is in the voice of god saying "the greatest goal line stand in superbowl history"
Its not on this list because it happened on 2nd down.
Oh it will be cuz its the stupidest play call ever specially after the way lynch got the to the goal line then they throw on the 1 yard line!!
They probably use comedians to give us a view of ordinary fans( just like us) had going through their minds at the time. Plus they’re comedians so they’re great story tellers.
