    1961 I with my little 7 year old brother crawled under the fence at Minneapolis Parade Stadium to watch the 1st Vikings team practice in a scrimmage game with St. Louis Cards. Walked around the end of the field to the Cards sideline and sat on an empty bench. St Louis Coach shouted OFFENCE and the entire on-field defense came over and sat around us. 1 guy put his helmet on little brother's head. Yep absolute true. Lived about a mile away. Was there for 3 hours, mother was not happy.

      FACTS: Greatness wins blowouts, LUCK wins close games. When 2 teams are trading leads, it comes down to an inch here or there, a dropped INT, a fumble that is retained, a helmet catch, a tipped pass. The Vikings have ALSO had Luck vs the Saints in 2019 and 2017; but luck was a bitch in 2009.

      That's basically true for ALL Northern teams that have ever had success (the only exception I can think of is the Indianapolis Colts who won ONE SB as an indoor team despite having Payton Manning and an arsenal of offensive weapons. Basically EVERY Northern team that ever had enough success to get to (and better yet win) the Super Bowl played in an OPEN OUTDOOR stadium (and invariably at some point in the playoff matrix likely hosted a Southern team, a West Coast team, and/or an indoor team that the Northern weather helped defeat). New England, NY Giants, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Buffalo (at least getting there), Cincinnati (getting there), Baltimore, Washington, Chicago, Green Bay, Minnesota in the OLD days at Metropolitan Stadium, KC, Denver, even Seattle after the Kingdome was torn down.

    • @wingedbuffalo4670

      @@melodywalton3675 I don't know what you're talking about ????? The Bills are building a new OUTDOOR stadium right across the street from the present one. The only difference is that the new stadium will be a bit smaller (only 60,000 seats), the field will be natural grass instead of synthetic turf, and the roof overhang design will "supposedly" shield about 60% of the fans from bad weather ... but it's an open-air stadium and the field will NOT be protected from the elements.

Vikings fans...You think you've had it shitty because of (thrilling) postseason losses. But you've had a GREAT history; you've contended for 50 years. 32 winning seasons since 1969. That's AMAZING. Football ISNT all about titles; that's saying 31 teams suck every year and aren't worth anyone's time. It's about EVERY GAME. EVERY SUNDAY matters. And the Vikings provided you and everyone else who likes good football with WAYY more good Sundays then bad ones. I'm a Giants fan, we have 4 SBs and 4 pre-SB titles. That hasn't mattered during 5 years of being BAD. What good is 8 titles during bad seasons? What, just fuel to troll Eagles fans with?
    Give me a GOOD team to watch on sundays for the rest of my life; a team that can and might beat WHOEVER it plays on Sunday; I'd gladly take that over 3 of Giants Superbowls. But I aint giving up 2007.😀

      This mentality is also why youth sports is dying. Majority of little league kids realize their team wont be winning the title; so they quit coming to practice. Who cares? We wont be champs, why play at all? And Adults now rip on them for participation trophies. I got those in the 80's as a kid, every kid had shelves full... and 30 years later folks who never played started ranting about the idiocy of getting a prize for not winning a title. ITS HARDER To be PARTICIPATING and practicing when you're losing. In High School the losing teams have to deal with the other 3000 kids talking shit, you suuuuck. The Pressure is on to QUIT the team and smoke weed and play video games and make tik toks like the cool kids while you're sweating thru practice to lose to a team with freaks getting scholarship offers. THAT team thats gonna win the city finals already 10-0 is easy to go to practice for, is getting hype, every boy on that 10-0 team has 2 girlfriends.

    Saints fans who just had 2018-18-19-20 happen be like: "You think the VIKINGS are Unlucky???" Ah I just love football. Xs and Os, Scheme, talent, decides each play outcome.. but unfairly , close games, esp postseason, are decided by LUCK alone. This is why I hate ring counting to measure players. A few coin flips gives Brady 10 SBs or just 2.

    They had such outstanding reg. Season under hc bud grant. It's a shame they didn't play as well in the SB. They div. In the 70s was lame. That helped. But still shouldn't take was several on 2 loss seasons. Probably best was 75 team that lost hail mary. I doubt they'd beat the steelers in SB. (No doubt they'd beat rams in CG). But they probably would've given the steelers a close game. So at least they'd finally not be do.inated in the SB. But the hail mary took it away

      Wish I had Modern HD angles of 98 Vikings thru Moss era. The old angles and quality were too shitty to see the passing game; today I analyze new and old games rewinding plays to appreciate whats going down, and if I was watching Moss Vikings, count the off screen safeties to figure out how were they gonna try to handle Moss and the AFROS. Remember "AFROS" America's Finest Receivers On Sundays"? www.espn.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=clayton_john&id=1691130 That shit was fun.
      I loved Moss fake mooning Greenbay, ITS A GAME, yeah its a fascinating and complex but after beating 2 deep shell by hitting the area between them in the middle to score, a fake moon to a rival fan base booing you is goddamn exciting. When asked about how to pay that fine Moss says "Straight Cash, Homey."

    I was born a Vikings fan in 1993. Sad that nowadays we kinda play like shit but its good to know that back in the day we were great. I love the Kapp story of how he turned down the MVP saying there was not one most valuable Viking there was 40. Also Fran scrambling and Bud coaching. I don't care if Cousins brings us to an SB win cause I feel he would not honor the Vikings or the faithful like they should be honored. I also loved when my dad would tell me about the late coach Jerry Burn's rant even though they won the game. Now Ik people will harp on my views on Kirk but I feel like he isn't a true Viking in which he doesn't give his all. But that's my opinion and I hope he proves me wrong

      Well it came down to one epic game vs the 98 Falcons. Vikings vs Broncos could have been a great SB....But the Vikings problem was their pass rushing D front that couldn't stop run very well. So Terrel Davis and the outside zone run would have caused lots of problems. If Randal carter and moss could shred it; would be a fair fight but they couldn't stop the falcons pass game and play action either and the broncos play action would have drawn blood.

      Every Fan Base loves the Coach and players that kept them relevant and mattering every Sunday when they were young; and thinks they're HOF. I'm shocked Vikings fans appreciate a black coach THAT much. Steelers fans hate on Mike Tomlin; even though he surpassed Bill Cowher's accomplishments, more wins; more postseason wins, and not a single losing season. When they won SB in 08 in Tomlin's 2nd season, after Cowher had a bad 06; they all claimed ever since "Cowher's Team won. Tomlin should take his ring off and give it to Cowher". Cowher also had THREE losing season, Tomlin 0. It's pretty obvious the inferiority complex those race resentment folks hold towards QBs, HCs, and GMs. They act personally threatened over the possibility Jalen Hurts almost won a SB. And call Mahomes White.

      What's the Point? I pity you, for not enjoying 30 more years of winning and being relevant and mostly being a team nobody wanted to play. Respect the playoff teams. It's not like Bud Grant won Superbowls. The Randy Moss Culpepper Vikings were a fun as hell team to watch every week. 1998 Was amazing. Adrian Peterson Vikes you have the most complete HOF back since Walter Payton. 2000 Yards 2012. The Top flight Mike Zimmer Defenses, the Kirk Cousins Dalvin Cook era top flight team. Y'all kicked out the SB contending Saints in 2017 and 2019! Vikings the main reason Brees don't have a 2nd ring during the saints final peak! This is Greatness and I'm not even a Vikings fan I'm a Giants fan. We had those 2 rings in the last 2 decades and mostly sucked, irrelevant. Vikings kicked our asses in Dec 2007 scored 21 points off INTs and NYG nearly missed the Playoffs as a result.

  • @wingedbuffalo4670
    @wingedbuffalo4670 3 месяца назад

    As a little kid in the late 1960s and early 1970s, I used to love the NFL Vikings -- the Purple People Eaters -- and all the great players. I used to love Bud Grant, Joe Kapp, Alan Page, Carl Eller, Jim Marshall, the fact they played outdoors at Metropolitan Stadium in Bloomington, etc., etc.
    And then I ceased being a fan when the scales fell from my eyes and I found out that the entire franchise was founded upon FRAUD, DECEIT, and scummy DISHONOR.
    In 1959 and earlier, the greedy, selfish NFL owners had ZERO interest in expanding the league and opening up new pro football franchises to other cities and markets, despite the fact that football was undeniably dynamic and was RAPIDLY becoming the Nation's favorite sport. The owners simply had NO DESIRE to cut their slice of the revenue/profit pie smaller by having more teams and owners (of course, it never occurred to them that, IF they actually invested the effort to GROW the sport, the "revenue pie" would grow exponentially as well, and with it, their individual profit shares too). But I digress. The NFL owners refused to expand, and they refused to sell an existing team to Lamar Hunt or Bud Adams, so the American Football League (AFL) was born. In fact, not only was the AFL born with the NFL's "blessing" (on its face that is), but also with the NFL's active ENCOURAGEMENT BECAUSE the NFL was in hot water with Congress for having a football monopoly that Congress wanted to break up (so the existence of a new "AFL" would rebut the Congressional claim of illegal "monopoly"). EXCEPT the scumbag NFL owners DID NOT REALLY mean to support the AFL. It was all lies and deceit, smoke and mirrors, and the NFL intended to CRUSH the AFL from ever geting off the ground (and/or surviving if somehow it found a way to get started).
    With the exception of placing franchises in the Nation's two largest TV markets (NYC and LA) with massive population bases that could easily support both a new AFL and old NFL team, The AFL affirmatively sought to place franchises in NEW large cities with NO NFL presence -- some with even growing populations to the West -- where football would be popular and supported. Hence, in addition to the NY Titans (later re-named the NY Jets) and the LA Chargers (soon to move to San Diego in season 2 of its life), the AFL awarded new franchises to Boston, Buffalo and Houston to comprise the Eastern Division along with NY -- and to Dallas, Denver, and Minneapolis/St Paul to comprise the Western Division along with LA. 8 original AFL teams.
    The jealous and greedy NFL owners then suddenly chose to place a new expansion team in Dallas to compete directly head-to-head with Lamar Hunt's personal team in his own hometown (i.e., the Dallas Texans -- which would move to KC and become the Chiefs after 3 seasons in the AFL). They raced to get the new Cowboys ready to play starting with the 1960 Season so as to NOT cede the Dallas market to the AFL since the Texans and the AFL were beginning play in 1960. But the NFL needed and wanted to inject more mischief, undermining, and destruction into the AFL's plans, and they needed a second expansion team to do that (both to "balance" the NFL's expansion by two teams instead of only 1, as well as to DESTABILIZE the AFL's initial number of 8 teams balanced between 4 teams in the Eastern Division and 4 teams in the Western Division) ... so they targeted an AFL team to POACH.
    Enter Minnesota. The stinkin', DISHONORABLE owner and investment group of the would-be Minnesota franchise struck a DEVIL'S DIRTY BARGAIN with the equally malicious and corrupt NFL owners: in exchange for intentionally LYING to the AFL owners and stringing them along PRETENDING to join the AFL, the NFL would award Minnesota an NFL expansion team to begin play in 1961. The only thing the Minnesota owners had to do to satisfy the NFL pre-condition was to play along with the AFL, NOT tell the AFL about Minnesota's true plans, and then announce the rejection of the AFL franchise and acceptance of the (heretofore secret) NFL expansion franchise offer to begin play in the 1961 season. Worse yet, Minnesota was instructed to delay making the announcement until just before Minnesota was due to participate in the AFL college football player draft -- that way it was CALCULATED not only to throw the AFL Draft into complete disarray and postponement (which would also work to the NFL's advantage), but also to destabilize and threaten the very existence of the AFL before it could even get off the ground ... because the league could NOT remain viable with an unbalanced cadre of only 7 teams, and would thus QUICKLY need to find a new substitute city. It was an INTENTIONALLY MALICIOUS, DASTARDLY. MALEVOLENT, LOUSY, DISGRACEFUL, DECEITFUL, and DISHONORABLE thing for BOTH the Minnesota owner/organizers to agree to do and to do, and for the NFL owners to propose and to do.
    Luckily, the AFL owners -- "The Foolish Club" -- were resourceful and quick-thinking. After Minnesota's and the NFL's TREACHERY (and that's what it was -- nothing less), the AFL owners pivoted and placed what would become the NEW "AFL 8th original franchise" in Oakland -- still in the Western Division, and on the West Coast as a compliment and natural rival to the Chargers team in LA and later San Diego. Thus the AFL lost the Minnesota Vikings, but gained the Oakland Raiders -- an absolutely STORIED franchise in both the AFL and sibsequently NFL.
    The NFL continued to try to "kill" the AFL through competing expansion too (this from a bunch of selfish NFL owners who originally refused to expand so they could keep a "bigger slice of the 'profit pie' for themselves!) Soon after the AFL began operations, they announced plans to start growing the new league by expanding into the South East portion of the U.S. beginning with Miami, and also with Atlanta and New Orleans under consideration. We all know the Dolphins began AFL play in the 1966 season, but -- no surprise -- the NFL had swooped in to steal Atlanta and New Orleans for itself.
    So, in the end, the Minnesota owners made a CORRUPT dirty deal with the Devil. It brings a good deal of "poetic justice" and satisfaction to note that of all 4 Minnesota Super Bowl appearances and losses), 3 of them came directly at the hands of AFL teams: AFL Founder Lamar Hunt's KC Chiefs in SB IV [wherein I was originally rooting for the Vikings], Al Davis' Oakland Raiders (which, as we've seen above, was birthed by Minnesota's treachery) in SB XI [but at that time I didn;t know about Minnesota's treachery and thus rooted for the Vikings against Kenny Stabler], and AFL EXPANSION team Miami [which team I detest] in SB VIII ...and the 4th Minnesota SB loss came to a team that technically started in the old NFL, but which WILLINGLY EMBRACED being associated with the AFL in the new AFC once the merger went into full operation for the 1970 season (and whose head coach, Chuck Noll, had honed his coaching expertise in the AFL as San Diego''s Defensive Coordinator): the Pittsburgh Steelers in SB IX. Karma reigns.

    Why isn’t Jim Marshall in the HOF? Jim Marshall played in 4 super bowls Devon Jones played for the Rams he appeared on 0 super bowls and he is in the HOF what’s wrong with the picture I’d say Jim Marshall is being ripped off because one day Jim Marshall ran the wrong way against the 49ers a game the Vikings won despite what Jim Marshall did. Would like to know who these thugs are who are keeping Jim Marshall out of the HOF. Deacon Jones need to be called out.

    • @WalterWhiteFootballSharing
      @WalterWhiteFootballSharing  4 месяца назад

      I dont think Deacon Jones is keeping him out. They did put a few of his DL mates in. Has 4 seasons of double digit sacks. I don't think anyone cares about the wrong way safety, maybe it influenced people in the 80s when he became eligible but they had a massive backlog of 1970s greats. They stuffed in too many 60s packers and 70s Steelers in my opinion just kinda enshrined the entire starting lineups. I wouldn't enshrine just for starting or winning SBs, I need to see game in game out dominance. Like JJWatt, who cares about postseason the man was a monster. Aaron Donald if the Bengals came back doesn't change his HOF resume. But it sure helps that his sacks killed 49ers and Bengals game win/lose possessions. Is Chris Jones 3x better then Aaron Donald because 3 rings? No, and Aaron Donald had a slightly better career was almost never totally neutralized by game plan while Chris Jones was often neutralized by doubles.
