I’ve been a Viking Fan since 1976 . Since Fran Tarkenton & the Purple People Eaters. The last time I was this excited for the Vikings was in 1998 . That season , they went 15-1 in the regular season . Randall Cunningham, Cris Carter & Randy Moss . I’m 55 , and I remember the heartbreaks of the NFC Championship Game losses of 1978 , 1987, 1998 , 2000, 2009, 2017 . I think this Vikings Team can win the # 1 seed in the NFC , make it into the Super Bowl & finally win it !! We’ve been waiting a long time , to get back to another Super Bowl . I’ve been waiting a lifetime .
1961 I with my little 7 year old brother crawled under the fence at Minneapolis Parade Stadium to watch the 1st Vikings team practice in a scrimmage game with St. Louis Cards. Walked around the end of the field to the Cards sideline and sat on an empty bench. St Louis Coach shouted OFFENCE and the entire on-field defense came over and sat around us. 1 guy put his helmet on little brother's head. Yep absolute true. Lived about a mile away. Was there for 3 hours, mother was not happy.
We may not have all the Super Bowls but we’ve always been a family kind of franchise. The Wilfs are a blessing. Let’s win this one for Vikings Nation. KJ31 rest in power.

The Minnesota Vikings may be 0-4 in Super Bowls, yet statistically they have to be the winningest professional sports team to not win a championship. They never had a true franchise QB since Fran Tarkenton, yet they have been able to remain consistent winners throughout the decades by drafting and signing great players at other positions and by finding decent to great coaches (some of which would even go on to make distinguished names for themselves after being on the team as assistants and coordinators, just look at Tony Dungy and Mike Tomlin). If the Vikings can ever find a true, consistent franchise QB again, WATCH OUT!
I always loved watching Bud Grant. He ( At least on the field ), showed little or no emotion and I always characterized him as " Fifty points ahead or fifty points behind, he always looked the same ". He would just chew his gum and watch the game.

Really awesome video i relived practically my childhood pop warner & grade school years watching this amazing NFL Legacy. I hated Vikings but always looked forward to watching their great teams! 🏈
It was easy lol. I found it on a now defunct torrent community in the offseason around 2011, got a lot of NFL films that year. Now its just Sportscult and 720pier, they have all sports and documentaries. I download NFL games to study; and also Night games to watch in 1 hour the next morning spoiler free, delete everything that isn't close and exciting when seasons end
Here’s all the history you need to know: the Vikings have always been a good team, with everything they need to win a Super Bowl, yet year after year they don’t.
I have a decent number of 2012 Vikings Condensed because I loved Adrian Peterson, esp that 2000 yard campaign. Some others here or there 2012-2016. If the Vikes were in a thrilling game, I obtained the game.
The Vikings had some of the greatest players ever play for them and many wins and playoff appearances. They’re just unlucky. Definitely the best team to never win the big one
They entertained us with great football for decades and decades. They rarely put out bad football seasons nobody could sit thru besides everyone else's favorite teams beating them up. The 4-12 teams
FACTS: Greatness wins blowouts, LUCK wins close games. When 2 teams are trading leads, it comes down to an inch here or there, a dropped INT, a fumble that is retained, a helmet catch, a tipped pass. The Vikings have ALSO had Luck vs the Saints in 2019 and 2017; but luck was a bitch in 2009.
All I can say is UGHHH!!! I have watched my beloved Vikings since I was 2 foot tall...I have seen it all...Hopefully...now that we once again have a hell of a coach...2020 draft ending on a high note...the offensive line must...must be resolved...as it has been the achilles heel for the last several years...the line must play and protect Cousins...;henceforth the Vikes can become a deadly team...Irv Smith...Rudolph...2 tide end sets...Thielen with Jefferson our new rookie...the line must protect Cousins!!!
I hate how bad OL teams don't just pour all their resources in fixing a problem. The 2021 Draft Bengals, Giants, you SHOULD be trading down and drafting 3 OL you're going to suck at running and passing.
What use is elite WR drafted top 10 when he's never ever going to reach 15 yards downfield because the QB will be hit, hurried, sacked, or strip sacked, or lost for the season a 2nd time in a row?
@@WalterWhiteFootballSharing Welp...we shall see...Dline should be OMINOUS...helping out our newly bolstered DB's...but unfortunately...I might have to simply quit...quit endorsing...as politics are being integrated into...frivolous...taking away that which was...just a game...
I was a Baltimore Colts fan and remembered the 1968 Western Division game . I also remembered Joe Kapp and the beating he took . The loss to the Jets had me looking elsewhere and I looked North . I stayed with the Vikings after the loss to the Chiefs in Super Bowl IV and watched the Colts beat Dallas in Super Bowl V . I've been a Vikings fan ever since ( I'm 71 ) . I still have my # 11 JOE KAPP jersey as well as my # 41 Tom Matte , ironically , I bought a # 12 Joe Namath Jersey out of respect for the ass whooping he gave us in Super Bowl III . I captained an Ice hockey team in 1978-79 and cut off my jersey sleeves in Honor of Joe ( players could not grab my Jersey sleeves when it came to dropping the gloves ) . Loved watching Joe Kapp punch that guy in the mouth at 71 years old ! Hey , I'm 71 ? Gotta find some of my old hockey opponents ?
It’s interesting to learn about the history of the various NFL teams. I am a diehard Packers fan and even so I can say that I wish the Vikings would’ve defeated the Falcons back in 98-99 because they would’ve given the Broncos a much better game. I hated when we had to play the 98 Vikings, but those Vikings were sure a fun team to watch.

Toughest Playoff Losses by Decade: 1975 - Hail Mary Pass from Staubach to Pearson - Dallas wins in Min on that play, 17-14 1987 - Darren Nelson Dropped Pass in End Zone - Washington wins in Was on that play, 17-10 1998 - Wide Left by Gary Anderson - Atlanta wins in Min, after Atl scores 10 points, 30-27 2009 - This is not Detroit Favre Interception - New Orleans wins in NO, after NO scores 3 points in OT, 31-28 2015 - Blair Walsh misses chip shot FG to win - Seattle wins in Min on that play, 10-9
Can't have a weak heart and be a Viking fan. The year Anderson missed the field goal, he had not missed one all year. Couple of 50yards+. Owww I gotta go find my Tommy Kramer jersey.
Gotta say as a non Vikings fan this is a real interesting watch it’s hard to choose one main NFL team through out this year’s season also my bro including my uncle in law are devoted Eagles fans right now my two favorite college teams are Buckeyes and Toledo Rockets being that i’m an Ohioan living in NW Ohio from Toledo
I'm a NYC lifer and Giants fan; but every year Im just a football fanatic I watch the contenders fun teams in fun games. Downloading them with torrents Monday mornings from 720pier or using a browser downloader on these links nflreplay.net/category/condensed-games/ Everyone should do that; offseasons are long and great teams don't exist 2-3 years later.
The identity of a team lasts 2-3 seasons. Free agency and cap means you can't keep stars you drafted. The team looks and plays totally different. SO you gotta download and appreciate the past squads and their thrilling games offseasons.
Are we supposed to waste two hours on the legacy of a franchise that has never won it all, not even once, has had two of the worst stadiums in the history of the league, at the end of EVERY unfulfilled season, exclaims they are just one or two Green Bay Packers away from a championship, AND, has the unmitigated gal to show up in public every week wearing purple? Nancy, what say you? Just say no, Gipper! Just say no. You got that right! NO!!!
Tĥe vikings were very good this year. They have me excitied to watch them again. The defense reminded me of the purple people eaters of years ago. They should try to keep the same roster if possible. SKOL.
I am from Denmark.. one of 3 countries where Vikings came from .. I don't watch that much American football but i feel my ancestors in me .. if you feel viking, try listen to the song "Dane" by Peyton Parrish .. if you feel something awaken inside.. if you feel inside that you are viking ancestor .. then this song will do good to you :)
Vikings have been the #1 team for decades and decades and decades and decades up here in the Midwest. They have been the toughest team for all three teams. Packers, bears, lions. Unfortunately for the Lions and Vikings. There r only two teams who won the Superbowl from the Midwest. That being surprisingly the Chicago bears. And OBV the first ever team to win the first ever Superbowl that being the Green Bay Packers. But if people wanna talk about game wise. And not history wise. Vikings have never been an underdog against the bears. Or the Packers. Or the Lions. They have already having people saying that the Vikings where the kings of the Midwest. They where the only team in the Midwest who had more favorites than odds. Lions r the underdogs of the Midwest. Packers and bears. Well there more like the old gizzers who can't win no more. But enough said as good as the Vikings rly r in the Midwest. Being the #1 team for decades upon decades upon decades. They have never won a Superbowl. Same with the Lions. It's like the Vikings is the father trying to win one more big game. The Superbowl. And the Lions r like the young son. Being loved and having that story to win 1 Superbowl. It's like it went the great grandfather the Packers winning the Superbowl. And then the grandfather the bears winning the Superbowl. And now Vikings and then lions.
They blocked so much of my team histories. An Outdated History of My Giants that ends '04; so minute 2 title runs, even THAT got blocked. ruclips.net/p/PLbGLzzomCfA5oG16gBCDYD7QHgIZpkpT- But my best stuff is here; just thrilling football; with my favorite Adrian Peterson games thrown in from 2012 ruclips.net/p/PLbGLzzomCfA5npQeb0jTnkevd_2UmV-FA
Don't fixate on SBs; enjoy every winning season you've been blessed to have. Superbowls are nice but Im a NYG fan. Do our 4 Superbowls and 8 total NFL Championships do anything as Giants have been unwatchable with Daniel Jones? A decade of ugly football every week? Yes Im a fan appreciating the scheme and talent of the 12-18 fun teams to watch every year; my Archives of downloaded condensed games I shared starts in 2012 during Giants and Jets decline. Check out the AP2K games of 2012 Vikings I got
My history with the Vikings started with them beating my Rams every year in the playoffs when I was a little 70's yoot. The wily Fran Tarkenton and his henchmen Alan Page, Carl Eller Chuck Foreman etc were purple horned devils. The demon was exorcised and sent back to the shadows in the 1999 NFC Divisional playoffs.
@@KBKB86 The 75-77 Vikings held the souls of Rams fans in their gym bags. The curse went dormant in the 1980's/1990's before being banished forever in 1999. As a little kid just starting to get hooked on the 70's NFL, Tark was my sworn enemy along with Staubach.
The 75 team could have won a Super Bowl had they not been robbed by the Hail Mary play where Drew Pearson pushed off. Tarkenton was never more upset than after that play.
I still want to attend the NFL HOF Induction Weekend and playfully chide Drew Pearson about that play. I also would tell him what a travesty it is that he wasn't placed in the Hall long, long before he got in. Other oversights: Jim Marshall and Otis Taylor. Many more, I'm sure.
They certainly would have 😊 to the super Steelers for a second consecutive year! Just scoring an offensive touchdown, which they failed to do in Superbowl nine, would have been a great challenge.
I respect your commitment. But; for my Giants and your Vikes, 2022 isn't our year. At least, win or lose, Vikes will put up some fun games; got stars at WR and RB, and Cousins is underrated.
Secret Base is doing Vikings history!!! ruclips.net/video/J2aQOZo3EQI/видео.html They did the Falcons it was great! Subscribe to that channel! Vikings fans...You think you've had it shitty because of (thrilling) postseason losses. But you've had a GREAT history; you've contended for 50 years. 32 winning seasons since 1969. That's AMAZING. Football ISNT all about titles; that's saying 31 teams suck every year and aren't worth anyone's time. It's about EVERY GAME. EVERY SUNDAY matters. And the Vikings provided you and everyone else who likes good football with WAYY more good Sundays then bad ones. I'm a Giants fan, we have 4 SBs and 4 pre-SB titles. That hasn't mattered during 5 years of being BAD. What good is 8 titles during bad seasons? What, just fuel to troll Eagles fans with? Give me a GOOD team to watch on sundays for the rest of my life; a team that can and might beat WHOEVER it plays on Sunday; I'd gladly take that over 3 of Giants Superbowls. But I aint giving up 2007.😀
Don't forget to save this playlist of thrilling games since 2012: ruclips.net/p/PLbGLzzomCfA5npQeb0jTnkevd_2UmV-FA Notice how rare the Giants make the list. The 2 best Giants games are both losses. Eh, at least they contended in THOSE games.
This mentality is also why youth sports is dying. Majority of little league kids realize their team wont be winning the title; so they quit coming to practice. Who cares? We wont be champs, why play at all? And Adults now rip on them for participation trophies. I got those in the 80's as a kid, every kid had shelves full... and 30 years later folks who never played started ranting about the idiocy of getting a prize for not winning a title. ITS HARDER To be PARTICIPATING and practicing when you're losing. In High School the losing teams have to deal with the other 3000 kids talking shit, you suuuuck. The Pressure is on to QUIT the team and smoke weed and play video games and make tik toks like the cool kids while you're sweating thru practice to lose to a team with freaks getting scholarship offers. THAT team thats gonna win the city finals already 10-0 is easy to go to practice for, is getting hype, every boy on that 10-0 team has 2 girlfriends.
That's basically true for ALL Northern teams that have ever had success (the only exception I can think of is the Indianapolis Colts who won ONE SB as an indoor team despite having Payton Manning and an arsenal of offensive weapons. Basically EVERY Northern team that ever had enough success to get to (and better yet win) the Super Bowl played in an OPEN OUTDOOR stadium (and invariably at some point in the playoff matrix likely hosted a Southern team, a West Coast team, and/or an indoor team that the Northern weather helped defeat). New England, NY Giants, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Buffalo (at least getting there), Cincinnati (getting there), Baltimore, Washington, Chicago, Green Bay, Minnesota in the OLD days at Metropolitan Stadium, KC, Denver, even Seattle after the Kingdome was torn down.
@@melodywalton3675 I don't know what you're talking about ????? The Bills are building a new OUTDOOR stadium right across the street from the present one. The only difference is that the new stadium will be a bit smaller (only 60,000 seats), the field will be natural grass instead of synthetic turf, and the roof overhang design will "supposedly" shield about 60% of the fans from bad weather ... but it's an open-air stadium and the field will NOT be protected from the elements.
2 of the most entertaining hours spent, enjoyed thoroughly but would have been so much better if there was a Vikings Superbowl as part of the documentary
72 here and while the Vikes aren't my team, I really can't stand the Packers post Lombardi. (Those fans are ridiculous.) So, I'm always rooting for you guys. I remember the Purple People Eaters and a string of great QBs. And then there's Page. So, yeah I like the Vikes! BTW, I'm a Washington fan, give us re-build time!
Teams that have never won a Super Bowl (1966-2021) or an AFL/NFL Championship in the Pre-Super Bowl Era (1920-1965): Vikings 1961-2021 (61 seasons) - 4 Super Bowl losses 1969 1973 1974 1976 Falcons 1966-2021 (56 seasons) - 2 Super Bowl losses 1998 2016 Bengals 1968-2021 (54 seasons) - 3 Super Bowl losses 1981 1988 2021 Panthers 1995-2021 (27 seasons) - 2 Super Bowl losses 2003 2015 Jaguars 1995-2021 (27 seasons) Texans 2002-2021 (20 seasons)
Frantic Fran. I saw the Vikings play the Rams their very first time at the Coliseum. I remember my dad telling me that the Ram fans would boo Van Brocklin, and they did. Purple pants and helmets. I still have the program.
It's not a coincidence that the Vikings have not been to the super bowl since the 1976 season when they were still an outdoor team going into the dome was the worst thing they could have ever done
Saints fans who just had 2018-18-19-20 happen be like: "You think the VIKINGS are Unlucky???" Ah I just love football. Xs and Os, Scheme, talent, decides each play outcome.. but unfairly , close games, esp postseason, are decided by LUCK alone. This is why I hate ring counting to measure players. A few coin flips gives Brady 10 SBs or just 2.
They had such outstanding reg. Season under hc bud grant. It's a shame they didn't play as well in the SB. They div. In the 70s was lame. That helped. But still shouldn't take was several on 2 loss seasons. Probably best was 75 team that lost hail mary. I doubt they'd beat the steelers in SB. (No doubt they'd beat rams in CG). But they probably would've given the steelers a close game. So at least they'd finally not be do.inated in the SB. But the hail mary took it away
The loss to the Falcons in 1998 is still the most disappointing loss in the more than 50 years of being a Vikings fan. That was our year to finally get off the Schneid.
i was fortunate enough to be brought into the world when bud grant and fran tarkenton were still together in minnesota, and as a child one of my earlier memories of the team was them beating the snot out of the 49ers so bad in the playoffs that they benched joe montana for steve young. i was there when fran left, there for jerry burns, saw all the ups and downs of dennis greens 90s and everything since. the 2024 vikings have been so overlooked; in all the years i've been watching the team i don't think i've ever seen anything like it. sam darnold has the best season since 2009 with brett favre, and maybe 2004 with daunte culpepper, or 1998 with randal cunningham, yet all anyone wants to talk about is a washed up aaron rodgers and a jets team that hasn't been relevant in 20 years, a disaster rookie season for caleb williams and the bears, a sub .500 49ers team and brock purdy, and the as always annually terrible dallas cowboys. the story of the 2024 minnesota vikings will require another episode of the secret base documentary series, similarly titled the history of the minnesota vikings (which i would highly recommend to anyone who hasn't seen it, loves football, and has ~9 hours to spare). could not be happier to see sam darnold and the team have such an amazing season. doesn't matter how this one ends at this point, the ride has been once again an epic journey. just one before i die. skol vikes
1998 is Yes the best offense up to that time and still top 5. But ALL the best offenses of all time lost in Postseason.#1 is 2013 Broncos, #2 2007 Patriots. DEFENSE and balance wins championships, not offense. Its very rare for the greatest offense to go all the way without elite D. 2006 Colts, 2009 Saints, 2022 Chiefs are the only team to do so. And the saints and chiefs defenses stepped up bigtime in postseason. 2023 Chiefs is exactly a SB profile: Top defense, good enough offense. This is why I'd say 2024 Ravens Top offense are a longshot, and 2024 Steelers have a better chance even though Ravens beat them up 2 days ago.
The fact all MVP QBs and Greatest offenses lose in Jan makes me so disgusted by arguments about QB greatness that basically comes down to counting rings. Look at Brady's MVP seasons of true greatness. LOST Postseason. Every Year's #1 Offenses score the most points because THEY HAD TO. They didn't have top 5 defense, so they had to keep up shootouts. And even a 14 point 4th Q lead isn't safe, better make it 21. Superbowl winning teams with defense get that 14-21 point before halftime and milk the clock instead of scoring 38 points. So enjoy the greatest offenses entertaining us for 17-18 games... but expect postseason losses. And Ive come to expect the greatest QBs being called Choke Artists, nobody will EVER learn or wants to learn how championships are won.
I was born a Vikings fan in 1993. Sad that nowadays we kinda play like shit but its good to know that back in the day we were great. I love the Kapp story of how he turned down the MVP saying there was not one most valuable Viking there was 40. Also Fran scrambling and Bud coaching. I don't care if Cousins brings us to an SB win cause I feel he would not honor the Vikings or the faithful like they should be honored. I also loved when my dad would tell me about the late coach Jerry Burn's rant even though they won the game. Now Ik people will harp on my views on Kirk but I feel like he isn't a true Viking in which he doesn't give his all. But that's my opinion and I hope he proves me wrong
'Play like shit'?? I downloaded and rewatch SO much recent Vikings because they play so well! They have been a playoff contender the past 6 years! 2017 #1 D to the NFC Championship; Ended 2 Saints SB runs, 2020-21 they had winning seasons and beat big dogs but miss the playoffs. They're 7-1 RIGHT NOW! Are you even watching? Oh, this was 11 months ago.
The 76 team blocked a Ray Guy punt and had the ball at the 1. They fumbled. You knew right then they wouldn't make it but Tarkenton tried until he was picked off.
Wish I had Modern HD angles of 98 Vikings thru Moss era. The old angles and quality were too shitty to see the passing game; today I analyze new and old games rewinding plays to appreciate whats going down, and if I was watching Moss Vikings, count the off screen safeties to figure out how were they gonna try to handle Moss and the AFROS. Remember "AFROS" America's Finest Receivers On Sundays"? www.espn.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=clayton_john&id=1691130 That shit was fun. I loved Moss fake mooning Greenbay, ITS A GAME, yeah its a fascinating and complex but after beating 2 deep shell by hitting the area between them in the middle to score, a fake moon to a rival fan base booing you is goddamn exciting. When asked about how to pay that fine Moss says "Straight Cash, Homey."
It's the last game of the 2024 season and we have a chance to beat Detroit and be division champion, however I've been so disappointed in the past. . 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
1;44 University of Pennsylvania's Franklin field. Where Philly fans booed Santa and pelted him with snowballs in the last regular season game of 1968 against the Vikings. 😆
It's a shame that those Viking squads of the 70s didn't win a ring. It's also kinda inexcusable that they didn't win with Cunningham, Randle, Carter, and Moss
Well it came down to one epic game vs the 98 Falcons. Vikings vs Broncos could have been a great SB....But the Vikings problem was their pass rushing D front that couldn't stop run very well. So Terrel Davis and the outside zone run would have caused lots of problems. If Randal carter and moss could shred it; would be a fair fight but they couldn't stop the falcons pass game and play action either and the broncos play action would have drawn blood.

Interesting. I appreciate how tough these men are. Maybe I’ll root for these guys as long as they aren’t playing my team
Love the Vikings in the 70's they would beat everyone in the NFC but couldn't win the big one
seen it 15 times. now i enjoy listening to this as i sleep! good shit! the 1969 Doc. is pretty solid. in depth on that season.
how many teams have they done these history things on
Your talking about this ruclips.net/video/7UMVy0-ZjPc/видео.html which is great.
@@erics2739 I found quite a few and uploaded them here: ruclips.net/p/PLbGLzzomCfA5oG16gBCDYD7QHgIZpkpT- They blocked alot of them. Ive gotten my hands on Giants, Jets, Steelers, Bills, Broncos, Raiders, Chiefs, Redskins, Eagles, Cowboys, 49ers.
@@WalterWhiteFootballSharingyes this one, awesome!
It's amazing how many great teams and players we have had over the years, yet we cant seem to find the formula to get us that Super Bowl win
Purple People Eaters & The Steel Curtain! 2 of the toughest teams in the '70s !
Met Franco Harris when I was working for Classic Roadsters. I asked him if he remembered the Purple People Eaters. He grimaced so his eyes shut for a very long time....oh yeah.... oh yeah.
Really awesome video i relived practically my childhood pop warner & grade school years watching this amazing NFL Legacy. I hated Vikings but always looked forward to watching their great teams! 🏈
The 98' Vikings are who we thought they were, one of the greatest teams to not win a SB in history
Them and the 2006 ravens
Ur right
Them and the 2007 Patriots
in todays NFL you never hear how Krause was a master of his position and the leading int record, but ya hear about the hacks from the 90s and 2000s
Spot on.
37:07 The Odin chant. Lol.
I admire the Vikings because they had what we should’ve in the 1970’s. Fran Tarkenton
Did you get to the 2nd half of the video? lol. There's more!
They shoulf've kept Joe Kapp.
They'd had won the next 3 Super Bowls.
@@kwasimensah6013 Kapp had one good season he was terrible after 69 .
What a wonderful history we have, Awesome job on the video.
@@roryhawk8279 ♥️ minnesoda viking history especially bud grant& purple people eater era
Here’s all the history you need to know: the Vikings have always been a good team, with everything they need to win a Super Bowl, yet year after year they don’t.
Been with them for a long time and I’ll (hopefully) be there when it finally happens
@ just one before I die!!!
Win the SB before I pass on into the greater life. 🙏🏽🏈
First comment for New Coach KOC, it has a ring to it,... don't it? 🤣
Welcome to Minnesota Coach

I need to find my old A Carter jersey. Great vid! Thanks!
Great History of Minnesota Viking Thanks
All I can say is UGHHH!!! I have watched my beloved Vikings since I was 2 foot tall...I have seen it all...Hopefully...now that we once again have a hell of a coach...2020 draft ending on a high note...the offensive line must...must be resolved...as it has been the achilles heel for the last several years...the line must play and protect Cousins...;henceforth the Vikes can become a deadly team...Irv Smith...Rudolph...2 tide end sets...Thielen with Jefferson our new rookie...the line must protect Cousins!!!
I fing hate bad Offensive lines. Its hard to watch. Nothing works except Shotgun 3 step game.

Thank you for using the Paul Allen commentary!
Catch phrase: No one could handle, John Randall!

Got to watch my Vikings back then, why i fell in love with them, dark purple helmet with white facemask, most beautiful thing i saw!

"There is no Most Valuable Viking. There are only 40 Most Valuable Vikings. Forty-for-Sixty." Wow.
Dude. Try your little term paper again, but with some punctuation.

I have been born a Viking and die a Minnesota Vikings Fan for Life
Vikings have been the #1 team for decades and decades and decades and decades up here in the Midwest.

Then the demon had a nice, long life. Bobby Bryant absolutely destroyed the Rams in 1976.
Scramblin Fran!, I remember!🤣
The 75 team could have won a Super Bowl had they not been robbed by the Hail Mary play where Drew Pearson pushed off. Tarkenton was never more upset than after that play.
Steelers would have beaten them anyways just like they did the year prior in the Super Bowl.
As a lifelong Packer fan, the NFL would not be the same without the Minnesota Vikings.
New York City Vikes fan for 53 years Looking foward to this season
I respect your commitment. But; for my Giants and your Vikes, 2022 isn't our year. At least, win or lose, Vikes will put up some fun games; got stars at WR and RB, and Cousins is underrated.
Eh, Freezing cold takes exposed, we both went to the playoffs. Now both fan bases think we're Superbowl contenders.
Great story!
I too am a GIANTS fan and agree 128% with this comment.
Most of the success was being outdoor stadium 🏟
Exactly!
@wingedbuffalo4670 it's the common denominator and buffalo bills are building an indoor stadium..Bad decision
To sell more concessions, and have more non fans come, we made the new stadium with a roof. The few years we played at the college, was the best

Teams that have never won a Super Bowl (1966-2021) or an AFL/NFL Championship in the Pre-Super Bowl Era (1920-1965):
Vikings 1961-2021 (61 seasons) - 4 Super Bowl losses 1969 1973 1974 1976
Falcons 1966-2021 (56 seasons) - 2 Super Bowl losses 1998 2016

Jaguars 1995-2021 (27 seasons)

The Bills barely escaped that list. Barely.
Browns 1950-1995 1999 -present 76 seasons O Super Bowl wins or appearances
Frantic Fran. I saw the Vikings play the Rams their very first time at the Coliseum. I remember my dad telling me that the Ram fans would boo Van Brocklin, and they did. Purple pants and helmets. I still have the program.
It's not a coincidence that the Vikings have not been to the super bowl since the 1976 season when they were still an outdoor team going into the dome was the worst thing they could have ever done
They didn't go to the Super Bowl for their final seasons at Met Stadium, 1977-1981 can't always use that outdoor thing as an excuse

If there had been a Super Bowl in Metropolitan stadium the Vikings would have won.
A lively cruise down memory fjord!
Fran Tarkenton is the greatest QB who never won a Superbowl
Dennis. Green. Was a. Great. Coach
The loss to the Falcons in 1998 is still the most disappointing loss in the more than 50 years of being a Vikings fan. That was our year to finally get off the Schneid.
They should start every training camp watching this.
i was fortunate enough to be brought into the world when bud grant and fran tarkenton were still together in minnesota, and as a child one of my earlier memories of the team was them beating the snot out of the 49ers so bad in the playoffs that they benched joe montana for steve young. i was there when fran left, there for jerry burns, saw all the ups and downs of dennis greens 90s and everything since.
the 2024 vikings have been so overlooked; in all the years i've been watching the team i don't think i've ever seen anything like it. sam darnold has the best season since 2009 with brett favre, and maybe 2004 with daunte culpepper, or 1998 with randal cunningham, yet all anyone wants to talk about is a washed up aaron rodgers and a jets team that hasn't been relevant in 20 years, a disaster rookie season for caleb williams and the bears, a sub .500 49ers team and brock purdy, and the as always annually terrible dallas cowboys.
the story of the 2024 minnesota vikings will require another episode of the secret base documentary series, similarly titled the history of the minnesota vikings (which i would highly recommend to anyone who hasn't seen it, loves football, and has ~9 hours to spare).
could not be happier to see sam darnold and the team have such an amazing season. doesn't matter how this one ends at this point, the ride has been once again an epic journey.
just one before i die.

How is it that Jim Marshall is NOT in the HOF????
76 sb
Sad that one bad play defined his career for the mainstream media. He was an awesome player and deserves it as much as anyone.
Jim Marshall should be in the HOF
I still can't believe they didn't win the Super Bowl in 98
1998 is Yes the best offense up to that time and still top 5.
💜💛💜💛 til I die!
Great team! Sorry they never won a Super Bowl! They were a great team!
@@WalterWhiteFootballSharing lol yeah maybe check when the post first happens. And yes the Vikings did play great but never in the big game
The 76 team blocked a Ray Guy punt and had the ball at the 1. They fumbled. You knew right then they wouldn't make it but Tarkenton tried until he was picked off.
Best two Vikings seasons ever were 1998 and 2009
Wish I had Modern HD angles of 98 Vikings thru Moss era.
1969 should be in that mix. They destroyed almost everyone that they played, much like 1998.
The best.
This missed saying that their first franchise game was played in Sioux Falls, South Dakota
Why didn't they show Gary Andersons missed field goal?!
My beloved Vikings..... SKOL!
The 1998 Vikings are one the best teams, ever.
Facts. #1 Offense and #6 Defense. Falcons were 4th and 4th. Every game, Crazy shit happens, so winning 15 of them is awe inspiring.
