    My valve cover isn't leaky and injectors were done by a shop 50k ago. Is there any need to do this if I don't have weird noises or any other issues?
    I don't have the special tool to turn motor. I have a 2005 5.9L with 196k miles on it. Thanks!

    I'm looking at doing a cummins swap in my 6.0 powerstroke what would be the best cummins to swap in to not have any issues with the Ontario obd2 emissions .whats your thoughts on this rich.

    Looking at buying an 01 5.3, is it a reliable engine? Also how is the 4l60e tranny? Love the videos keep it up!

    • @DEBOSSGARAGE
      @DEBOSSGARAGE  7 лет назад +1

      5.3 is super reliable. Thats why everyone swaps them into everything. No bad things to say about the 4l series trans either. As good as any of them out there. (4 means 4 speed, L is series, 60 means 600 torque rating and E means its electronic shift)

    Going to do an 05 Excursion with a cummins swap. What Cummins would you put in it if you had your choice?

    • @onlylikenerd
      @onlylikenerd 7 лет назад

      5.9 12v due to how simple they are. plus it'll fit in the engine bay of the excursion easily.

    My 06 5.9l cummins...doing injectors and the first one I pulled, I knocked the bridge off the valve springs. I notice a nipple on one side or the other of the bridge. Does it matter which way that faces? I've looked at the rest of them, and it flip flops, so I assume it doesn't. Any info DEBOSS?

    do you like the exhaust lash @ .026 it say adjust to .020

      yea wut up with that

    • @JeffinTD
      @JeffinTD Год назад

      That changed: iirc 2003-2005.5 was .020, the 2004.5-2007.5 .026.

  • @masonpauls
    @masonpauls 4 года назад

    What do you think, Rich? On 06-07 5.9 exhaust lash is .026. Some say it’s because of a different alloy used, heat, and some say it’s Chrysler’s recommendation for emissions.
    What’s your recommendation? Keep all 5.9 exhaust at .020 or go by spec listed on valve cover?

    Is the 24v Cummins just as reliable as the 12v? And i also noticed that the 1998.5-2002 Cummins 24v's were different looking then the 2003-2007, so that makes me think they had some sort of defect in the design, so they changed it.

    • @onlylikenerd
      @onlylikenerd 7 лет назад +9

      the 2003-2007 cummins were what they call the "common rail" cummins, which isn't what the 98-02 cummins are. The only differences I see with the 24v and 12v are obviously the difference in how many valves are per cylinder, and the injection pump, being the 12v is mechanical and the 24v went to the VP44. The biggest flaw of the 24v cummins from 89-02 is the injection pump. Pretty much all of them fail. And they're super expensive to replace. Also a lot of the seals in the Vacuum pump of the 24v go bad and begin to leak oil but those are super easy to replace. My 02 24v has 230k miles and it drives like brand new, and yes we have had to replace the VP44. But it's cheaper than rebuilding an entire common rail 24v haha. I would say they're just as reliable, it all depends on the driver and how they drive and how they take care of it. I wouldn't drive a new cummins over the older ones. I'd take an old 24v or a 12v over a 6.7 any day... just my 2 cents

    Witch in your opinion is a better motor 12 valve or 24 valve common rail and why?

    • @DEBOSSGARAGE
      @DEBOSSGARAGE  7 лет назад +1

      Simply put, the 12V is a simpler engine. My favorite. 24V puts out more stock HP/torque but pump and electronic issues come with that.

      I'm looking at getting a cummins ram and didn't know witch would be best iv read that they are both good and both react good to mods but just not sure on witch is more reliable.. Ill be using the truck for fun maybe a lift and taking it off road and hauling of course. My main things is reliability
