Great lesson! One thing I love about the way you teach is that after speaking the phrase at a slow speed for understanding, you then speak it at a normal everyday speed. This is very important. People need to hear the correct rate of speaking. It's also important for people like myself who will mimic everything you say in Chinese.
Even if I already know what it means and have the characters memorized, I will walk away from my device and just listen and mimic everything at a normal rate of speed. I never spoke in my own way, I always mimicked my native teachers, and I think that is what has helped me so much, because tonal languages are so very different from English, even in terms of speed, pitch, everything.
My voice sounds competely different when speaking Chinese, that's because I mimic my wonderful teachers.

For "if", I think there is also 假如 and 假设. But I think for 假设 the likelihood is higher. For example:
假如他来 = If he comes (Supposing he comes)
假设他来 = If he comes (Assuming he comes)
Also, for "if", I have sometimes seen 若 (ruò), but I think this is rarely used, and only in writing.
How do you transcribe these symbols?
Well
I find that the word "if" is often omitted altogether in Chinese, when it can be clearly understood from the context.
For example: 你再等下去菜会凉了 ("If you wait any longer, the food will be cold")
This can be a difficult concept for English-speaking learners, because this never happens in English.
"你再等下去菜就凉了"，“就” is better (just omitted 如果).

by 5 o'clock = 五点前。
这里动作还没发生或完成，不用在最后加上“了”。
