Your channel is great brother, I've been on Iracing for 3 years, that setting always been on there the trouble with most people on Iracing is they are very tight lipped about settings as you go along and get more time and experience you will keep finding settings settings that will help my advice do a lot of testing and keep trying as much different type settings you will be amazed all the stuff you are going to find that everyone keeps to themselves, Shawn Powell 2 on the sim look forward to seeing you on the track.
Fun video, just an additional bit of information. In 2022 I was in the ENASCAR Coca-Cola Series and we raced at Dirt Bristol and the previous year in RTP we raced at Knoxville. Given that stockcars don't have super quick boxes like most dirt cars we as a group would change our wheel settings (Profiler, aka not in sim) to be ~250-400 degrees of rotation while keeping the in sim map to 900. This meant we basically had a 2-3:1 multiplier on our inputs. Turn the wheel 20 degrees in reality, get 40 degrees in sim. Was a game changer to our collective pace, while not directly but particulary in consistency. Was far easier to save a car, etc. So if you still feel like after going to a minimum steering box that you are still steering to much, feel free to try out changing your degrees of rotation in your respective profiler (for me VRS, if you have a logitech in theirs, etc) and seeing if that helps!
Steering ratio is in garage settings . Like a setup adjustment. Not in options. Use custom controls will only save game options not garage setup options.
Bro so funny, in midgets I went from 7:1 to 8:1 because it feels more like an IRL midget to actually work the wheel. I never understood how people drove dirt race cars by barely moving their wheel to countersteer in iRacing. Great vid!
I’ve always dropped the steering ratio down to 4:1 on dirt, and 16:1 or 14:1 on pavement. Is that why I’ve always been so fast and competitive on dirt? Thought this was relatively common knowledge. Good on you for putting it out there though
@@VMeed-jo7fb ok so did 10:1 and 14:8 steering rack for the modified cars and I think that’s my new go to! Raced at leenerville and already put down faster time than my previous few days. Good stuff! Always good to try new things
This does work but if you race in real life you can develop a bad habit of not turning the wheel enough. With a 10:1 box in my asphalt late model at my home track I have to turn the wheel about 90degree left. This is another reason I went to load cell pedals, so I'm already used to really mashing the brake pedal
WTF 4:1?? I would be wrecking. I run 14:1 in Street Stocks have over 400 wins. That's insanity you would burn your tires off in 10 laps. He must of been in the lowest split. In SS it's all about hitting your entry right so you get a launch on exit.
the steering ratio tricks are all preferences, its not a fix all setting. Like for me personally on dirt ovals, a LOWER steering ratio made me WORLDS better, I would argue a higher SR on dirt will make you worse, its much harder to drive thru a slide with a SR that's barely responding. I had dirt guys 6-7k irating tell me run lower SR on dirt and its been money ever since. A lot of the cars you cant lower the SR, so you gotta do it in your wheel software like g-hub or moza pithouse, On dirt ovals i run either 360 or 540, as opposed to 900 for asphalt oval,
This doesn't work universally for all cars/tracks on dirt or pavement. Try it out and see what feels best for you. Great explanation! Found this setting a couple months ago on a random reddit post after googling for a while when first running street stocks.
so longer races with more fall off, this is going to be a problem. It'll defnitely work on some of the lower series, but for something like the xfinity, its going to nuke tires. So just be careful with it
Can you get on call soon it’s 11:14 for me so I got to go to bed soon don’t wanna bug you but I gotta race and then go to bed just have wanted to talk to you for a long time
do away with force feed back so wheel will stop jerking back and forth and u will be smoother to u can then put a little force to center the wheel in profiler and be smoother

I’ve taken a year off iRacing and just recently came back. I was competitive before but man I’m curious to try this. Earned a new sub brother

I remember you never watched the actual races but enjoyed seeing you drive in the replays I watched.
not realistic though. its stupid but its the only way to win races anymore
This is so useful for people who don't know this. Thank you!
Make sure the box labelled 'use custom controls for this car' is checked to save settings like steering ratio for each of the cars.

Love this mate some many people keep stuff to there self 🔥
I've just got iRacing for a year so I'm gonna download it eventually and maybe see you on track. Hoping for another vid soon.

I’ve always done 4-1 on the street stocks but haven’t tried 12-1 on the faster cars I’ll try it tomorrow and see what it does
Definitely try it, it helps you hold your line so much easier!! Thanks for watching and commenting!
I run 10:1 on sprints. Also can change steering rod length to fine tune ratio.
@@VMeed-jo7fb yes I’m going to try some stuff this morning and see what it does for sure

Dude he's talking about dirt street stocks.. not asphalt. You probably are running 14:1 on asphalt.
@@sethkastl1651 you'd be correct. he's running asphalt.
What ratio do you guys recommend for dirt late models? I’ve been struggling pretty bad with it. Thanks guys. Great video.
I thought everyone knew this, keep in mind if you lower it itll burn your tires up quicker, raising it will preserve your tires

Save doesn’t save on fixed setup races, also when you go from practice session to “join race” you have to set the ratio again.
