He gets out early maybe because it was his first time doing that pin stent ppl get out early for being good don't mean they change ppl become institutionalized after a few years so it's easy to do crime and go back locked up again.

This is explained very easily in law school in the sense of judicial economy. Essentially felony convictions can take up to 2/3rds off their sentence if they accept a plea deal with the prosecutor. They are almost always offered and incentivized to take a plea deal because court dockets are swamped and jury trials take a long time. Public defenders are also overworked to the bone. The only solution is to raise your taxes so that we hire more judges, more prosecutors, and more public defenders, and plea deals are offered less and less to violent felons when public safety outweigh judicial economy.

If 2 gangs are having a shootout and their members are hurt, that is a bit different from a kid at school getting shot. Both wrong, yes. However, there are life choices and some of those lead to shortened lives. I wouldn't put my foot in an alligator pen and then complain that my foot was detached from my leg making me in the same category as a wounded veteran.

This is the end result of social justice instead of actual justice. This is just the beginning.
I agree with him, that for gangs to do something like that in such a public place is very concerning.
Even here in the SoCal area there's NOT been an event between rival gang members like the one that's just occurred in Sacto. It's always been before, as he said, just between the gangs and not located within a busy public area where innocent people could get shot and killed plus there would be a lot of people who could identify them.
My sincerest condolences go out to the family and friends of those who were killed in this senseless act of gang rivalry and revenge.
No one ever wins if they're a member of any gang, and they know that they'll either end up in prison or dead if they don't turn their lives back on the right track before they get in to deep to ever leave a gang, even if they wanted to because they then know to much for their own good/safety. That's why there needs to find a way to get to these very young people, under the age of 13 years old, and help them with various resources to try to prevent them from becoming a gang member, and also help their families out too so that all of them can stay on the right path.

I've heard that one for over 60+ years now in my lifetime living here in California, and I do mean both Northern and Southern California. Plus, I've also lived and worked for a few years, a total of about 6 1/2 years, in the NYC and East NJ areas during the late 60s and then again in the mid 70s. AND, drug abuse is NOTHING NEW to this country or frankly to any other country in this world either when you go back and just watch some old movies from the 1930s, or read about the lives of some famous people who were hooked on heroin or cocaine or marijuana or other stuff going way back into the days of the wagon trains and even before that time in Europe and elsewhere. Heck, I used to think of San Francisco as my second hometown when I was growing up because it was so close, only about 1 1/2 hours away by car, and thus in my late teens Haight Ashbury was the place for us to go to for the day or weekends and just go to other places in SF and listen to great music. Oh, and there were all forms of drugs in those days available within every place that I knew of and went to within this country, BUT it was UP TO the INDIVIDUAL PERSON then and it STILL IS whether or NOT to USE or NOT TO USE illegal drugs. I knew people who popped acid, speed, cocaine, and used all kinds of stuff and even, some, very sadly and unfortunately, died from it too. SO DON'T go giving me any of those tired old worn out answers. And, if they are really upsetting everyone then isn't time that the MAJORITY of the people within an area stand-up and take back their own without violence like say the way Martin Luther King Jr did or before him Edgar Evans or even Malcom X was for peace not violence. Also, look at how much was achieved by Mahatma Gandhi did Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu in their life's and through peace, umm?
And, even Cesar Chavez who was for better working conditions and better pay, etc for the farm laborers here in California, he was for doing the protesting, etc peacefully and no violence. Just take a look at what he did achieve a little, but frankly not enough, for the farm laborers of CA back then. At least, it was a start, but working in the hot sun all day, even nowadays many of them are still living poorly. I'm sorry that I went off topic sightly .

You know if the government really cared about our welfare, all drugs would be legalized. It would hurt gangs so much and it would become not worth it to become involved in crimnal organizations. Crime would go down drastically. Tax money made from sales could be used for education programs and rehabs. Deaths from drugs would drastically fall, people would know the strength of what they are getting and not have to worry about fentanyl. The spread of disease would severely decrease. Not to mention people's lives would not be ruined by drug charges for trying to have a good time or for therapy reasons. The big debate against it is that drug use would go up and addiction with it. That would not be the case at all. The very opposite. What people don't realize is that if someone wants to use they will do it regardless if legal. The fact that the 2 most dangerous and harmful drugs are legal is pathetic. That would be alcohol and tobacco. Lastly the economic gains and jobs created would be great. Compared to the way things are now, only good things would come about from legalization. Write to your representatives and plead your reasoning why legalization needs to happen to improve life in the U.S., mention the points I have laid out. Let's get this done before things get a lot worse. The only reasons that someone would be against legalization would be:
1. They are uneducated.
2. They are in bed with crime organizations that make money from drugs being illegal.
3. They are in bed with pharmaceutical companies who want to hold a monopoly on dangerous drugs.
4. They are in bed with the corporate prison system designed to make money off incarcerated people.

Honestly, gangs need to be prevented not just given harsher sentences. Gang members thrive in prison - they're all grouped together and convince each other doing time makes you "hard" and earns you "respect". Something needs to be done in these communities to keep impressionable youths from falling into older gang member's influences. I remember in high school I used to think it would be cool to join the norteno group I was around but I was too chicken to get jumped-in.
