  • The world's first EX8000E-6 electric-drive hydraulic excavator has been delivered to and assembled in China.
    It took 14 days for the ultra-large excavator to be transported from the Hitachinaka port in Japan to its final destination at the mine, where it took almost two months to assemble.

    1.5 months in a cold temperature is a must to assemble the EX8000E EDH excavator!

    Great video,
    Were all the mechanics from the same company in China, or was there someone from factory to oversee the assembly?
    I would have loved to be part of the crew that assembled the excavator, and would also love to be able to operate it for a few hours.
    How far did they have to run the electric lines that fed that beast?
    Thanks

      C Smith I think it was a collaboration between a team from hitachi and one from the mine, as the video stated "...both the hitachi and elle teams are confident" Just a guess! But yeah this is an awesome video, wish there was more of this type of content to watch

    • @GIGABACHI
      @GIGABACHI 8 лет назад

      So, what you're saying it's that it works like a DIESEL-ELECTRIC locomotive ? But instead of having the gen set inside it it has it outside apart from the machine and out of camera ? What's the big idea behind this layout ?

    • @joubertp16
      @joubertp16 8 лет назад

      I understand better now. Still what's the point using electricity to drive the hydraulic pump which powers the cylinders instead of driving it directly from the diesel engine? I'd rather think electric power is for the tracks only. They must be more efficient than hydraulic motors.

    • @ez2000co
      @ez2000co 2 года назад

      @@joubertp16 actually this EX8000 it's full electric, that means no diesel engine. A power line connected to the excavator, two electric motors running the hydraulic pumps to all movements: hydraulic cilinders, tracks, swing etc.
