Straight to atmosphere, the regulations for refrigerants are much more relaxed in the BRICS countries. After all here I can still buy R22, and with a bit of driving also get R12 as well. just is more expensive, quadruple the price it was 5 years ago, and half the size cylinders. No more new AC units with R22, but still thousands of old ones that need work done, and yes where possible I actually do recover refrigerant, though with the most common reason for repair being that the outdoor unit got stolen for copper, not much refrigerant recycling. Large refrigerated ships still use R22, and there you order replacement refrigerant in 20 ton refillable containers, and you might need 3 or 4 to fill up a system.
On the other hand, just letting the compressor oil flow out to the floor and eventually seep into the ground is great. That way they can pump it up in a few years and make some more money! Great strategy!

In 2020 Pakistan CO2 emissions per person 0.83 metric tons- USA CO2 emissions per person 13.03 metric tons (the USA emissions have dropped from 20 metric tons per person in 1990).
I guess it is aluminum wire, but aluminum cans are made of either 3000 series or 5000 series aluminum alloy. Aluminum wire is made of 99%+ aluminum. Apparently it works, but an awful lot of metallurgists did a lot of experiments to determine the best alloy and I don’t think it was in vain.
Well, seeing as they are making it for a cheap price, and ignoring the insulation breakdowns, it probably is good enough to just not catch fire every install. Probably going to be used for street wiring, and for drops to each dwelling, where hopefully there is actually a fuse installed, unless the cable is the fuse.
And then you get crappy wires with much higher resistance than normal for given cross section. Conductivity worsens a lot when metals are mixed into alloy, even if all metals have great conductivity by themselves. Say if you add copper (2x better conductivity than aluminum) to aluminum, conductivity will be significantly worse than of pure aluminum. Thus such wire made of who knows what alloy will not able to handle the same load and will have much higher energy loss compared to a good wire made of (almost) pure aluminum or copper.
I’m sure OSHA makes a visit there every week. At night those guys work at the call center down the street and talk to your grandma, helping her get her new Medicare Part A & B card.
Terrifying working conditions? Yes. They could die of cancer or injury. But poverty is even more terrifying. They would die of hunger even sooner than cancer or injury if not doing this job.
Hey copper is expensive, plus also note that a good amount of that copper they stripped out of the compressors is not copper, but copper coated aluminium, so those copper bars are going to be interesting alloy wise.
@@SeanBZA The title of the video says "copper wire" . While the first segment was extracting copper wires from compressors, the made the copper wires in to bars not wire. The aluminum wired compressors would not be added to the copper and recycled as aluminum. BTW it is not copper coated aluminum but enameled aluminum for insulation. Why would they contaminate the copper with aluminum to make un pure copper and devalue sale price. The second segment was aluminum recycling to turn them in to pvc coated aluminum wire.
@@andyl3361 Guaranteed there would still be slip ups and the copper will get contaminated with aluminium. You can see them mixing CCA wire with enamelled copper wire, and no doubt some will land up in the furnace. But those cast bars they were making likely go to another place, where they get used to either make brass or bronze, or get refined again to make pure copper for wire drawing. Though of course they can also draw wire from it as well, just will not be as good a quality wire, but good enough for cheap appliance and cable use. After all the dregs also get drawn into wire, and made into the cheap nasty flex cables you get.
